+Samuel & Audrey Yes. The two kids are Romulus and Remus, the legendary founders of Rome, who where abandoned and adopted and nursed by a wolf. Since Romanians are a romanic nation, that statue is a very important symbol for us to :).

+tolwenAuris They are bronze copies received as a gift from Rome, like 50 copies spread over Romanian Cities bcs of our connection and latin heritage. Is called "Lupa Capitolina"

Hi!i just want to add that "the weird statue with the 2 children drinking milk from the wolf", as you said, it is called "The female wolf feeding Romulus & Remus"...Romulus & Remus were the 2 founders of Rome and they were twins. Romanian language has latin roots, same as italian, spanish and french. :)

    Wonderful moments, I love Brasov!
Romania has evolved enormously in recent years, I think you should explore new places and amazing cities, so many hidden gems to discover between and around the Romanian Carpathians.
Only the trains are still waiting to be brought into the present 😄

  • @Kakashikewl

You two are sweethearts :) I wish I was able to show you around, when you visited. There's plenty more stuff that you would've enjoyed, I'm sure. For example, you showed some footage in a forest which I'm somewhat sure was leading to a road, called Drumul Poienii. Basically meaning 'the Poienii Road". Poienii signifying that you are headed towards Poiana Brasov if you kept going. Poiana Brasov is a sky resort but on your way there you'll get to a point called Belvedere which is basically this parking spot for cars where you'll get a really nice view on the Old Town, compared to the one you've got from the that fortress you've visited. Which btw, it's the actual Fortress of Brasov back in the medieval times when Brasov was a powerful mercantile center. Then there's the 'elevator' thingy (idk exactly what it's called in English) that takes you all the way up to where that BRASOV sign was, which is by far the highest point you can reach in Brasov (height-wise) and probably the best view as well, being able to see pretty much the entire town from there. The medieval walls that used to circle around Brasov would've been another nice thing to show you. And all in one, having someone to take you around by car is way nicer. If you ever visit again, I would love to show you around, if you wish.
Best wishes and I'm glad you had a good time in Brasov.
PS: I only wished you would've actually stumbled upon more Romanian/Brasov related places too. It's true that we have a lot of Hungarian influences from back in the Dual Monarchy period of the Austro-Hungarian Empire but nowadays those are in fact a minority. Brasov is full of Romanian based cuisines, restaurants, pubs and whatnot. DISCLAIMER: Not saying there's anything wrong with Hungarian related places/cuisine. Just thought you might wanna have some more insight into Romanian cuisine and lifestyle also.
    Perhaps some other time.
    Take care, Samuel and Audrey!

Brasov is quite an old and beautiful city indeed, as many other cities from Romania like Sibiu, Alba Iulia, Cluj, Timisoara, Constanta, Craiova.
Bucuresti was founded about six centuries ago, but it was heavily bombed in the two world wars, so many of the old buildings were destroyed, there were so many arhitectural styles, such as Brancovenesc (original romanian arhitectural style), Art Nouveau and few Gothic ones, then followed the 50 years of communist dictatorship that imposed the standard apartments blocks in Romania (Bucuresti too, obviously), so this why there are so many identical gray apartments blocks everywhere.

    • @Kakashikewl
      @Kakashikewl 7 лет назад

Brasov is far better, traffic-wise, compared to Bucharest but unfortunately it's not really a city where 'most people ride bicycles to work'. The old Town gives that impression because of all the old streets that are mainly reserved for walking (I believe bicycles are not even allowed in some of these areas). But trust me, most people, unfortunately, use a car to get to work. There aren't any jams but there's quite a lot of cars by 4 in the afternoon.

haha that statue of the wolf is the story of how Rome began. The two twin boys are Romulus and Remus who were raised by a she-wolf. They, according to legend, founded Rome. Well technically Romulus did after he killed Remus.

+kterinkBZ why in all the videos about Romania we need to remind about politics and shit? It became annoying.

I'm not sure I follow, you say you're a Greek and Aroman person living in Romania, yet you consider it to be as such. Even more, I can sense a powerful hatred coming from you, towards it and its people. So my question is, why not leave elsewhere? I cannot really see any reason why anyone would stay in a country that he/she hates so much.

      Wow, ok.
Sper sa ajungeti intr-o zi sa va rezolvati orice problema ati avea.

Good grief your European and you don’t know who Romulus and Remus were? Only the traditional founders of Rome. I thought the education system in the US was the worst but I guess I was wrong. But still a thumbs up.
