I’m here for monogamy even though it seems like most are drifting away from it but what I will say is that if people would be honest with themselves and deal with their issues of lust, unfaithfulness and whatever other desires they may have before entering relationships and marriages, there would be less divorces and folks feeling like monogamy is unnatural and unrealistic. I worry that i am incapable of long-term romance. No matter how hot someone is, after a while i'm over it. Not everything has to be in this box or another. There is an in between and then some. There are a variety of happy committed relationships that don't choose monogamy. Every marriage/relationship is different and subjective.
I think most species are designed to mate with either one mate for life or multiple mates. Some species can go either way. But humans have an additional intellectual and emotional capacity that most other species don't, that allow us to more closely tie in "mating" with emotions. And emotions do naturally lean towards monogamy. I get Scar Jo's point though about how if monogamy was supposed to be so natural for people, why do so many have a hard time doing it. But again, I feel our brains were designed to be more complex for a reason. Doesn't mean people shouldn't have a choice at the end, I'm just talking biologically.
Imagine if we lived to be 500 years old. Would people still be with one person? If the person you are with isn't perfect, why should I leave them and search for that perfect person? I think it depends on the person. To some people monogamy is natural/normal and to some people it isn't. Just like how some people think the opposite isn't natural for them, some prefer only one person and that's normal for them. So it depends 🤷

I think most species are designed to mate with either one mate for life or multiple mates. Some species can go either way. But humans have an additional intellectual and emotional capacity that most other species don't, that allow us to more closely tie in "mating" with emotions. And emotions do naturally lean towards monogamy. I get Scar Jo's point though about how if monogamy was supposed to be so natural for people, why do so many have a hard time doing it. But again, I feel our brains were designed to be more complex for a reason. Doesn't mean people shouldn't have a choice at the end, I'm just talking biologically.
Imagine if we lived to be 500 years old. Would people still be with one person? If the person you are with isn't perfect, why should I leave them and search for that perfect person? No one is perfect but if you like them and love them, why not stay with them still or continue to date/hang out. What is wrong dumping someone for someone slightly better? The moment you realize that you check out people while being married or in a relationship, should give you a strong indication that being with one person isn't natural. Why fight that urge. Why fight staying with one person. Doesn't make any sense other than society telling us we need to find that perfect one and people seeing you as different and that it's "wrong". I'm realizing that most people who lack IQ can't actually comprehend the stupidity behind monogamy relationships. In my deathbed, I will be asking myself "wow, what could live have been exploring the world with different people vs just one person". Life is short to live life with one person. You don't see people dumping friends because they only want one friend who is perfect. Why don't we dumo friends who aren't perfect as your others? Because we care? No it's not. Being honest is important, but marriage means that you don't give room for yourself to change over time. I feel that my sexuality changed a lot after I had my child. How would I have known that was going to happen if I never had one? I've heard that some women don't feel the same way to their partner after getting off the pill, but it may not even be about that because I wasn't even on the pill.
