I still don't believe that no one ever recorded a video of a Mayhem gig with Dead and Euronymous, someone probably has something recorded but don't want to share it on internet
space witch It's possible any live recordings of the Dead/Euronymous era of Mayhem are inaccessible. 88-91 was the era of large primitive home recording cameras. Cameras get lost, exposed to weather, or simply succumb to age. If someone didn't have their recordings switched over to a newer technology, they lost any recordings on said camera.
@@oostycowart7053 Hey there Dead passed away on 4-08-1991. Pelle was only 22 years old when he died unfortunately suicide. I’ve been a big fan of Pelle Ohlin but not family member, i probably wouldn’t say his voice was seductive & menacing to me Lol winks Pelle was loved by family & friends. Dead was fantastic front man in his time. He paved the way for the scene at the time. He was in Mayhem until his death in 1991. Morbid formed in 1986. Pelle left Morbid in 1988 to join Mayhem. Morbid's album December Moon released in 1987. Johan Scarisbrick was the next vocalist for Morbid after Pelle had left the band.
The guitars are barely audible once the vocals kick in though. I mean are the guitars even still playing? I literally can't hear them at all. It sounds like drums and vocals only.
THE Black Metal vocalist. Rest in Peace, Pelle. You were and are an inspiration to millions all over the world to keep the true spirit of black metal alive. I wouldn't be in a black metal band if it weren't for Mayhem.
This gives me chills while listening specifically it's my first time hearing black metal, Dead's voice sounds so perfect and fit for this kind of music it's so sad his life was ended with such sadness and unhealthy minds.
Both versions are great. Euronymous and HellHammer really make the song. Euronymous inventive style and HellHammers death metal influence/groove quality make this song a masterpiece. It is, however, Dead’s shrieking that adds that grimness while Attila’s operatic style is beautiful in a different way. Either way, I love this band. Spiritual listening.
Euronymous was incredibly friendly. Dead was reclusive. Opposites in personality. I saw them live when I was 13. Shows were so simple back then. It was real and you could smell the death.
Did you had the chance to talk to any of them? It's cool to hear that euronymous was friendly, the stories we read says the complete opposite of friendly
Wow,that's incredible you saw the Dead/Euro phase of Mayhem live in concert! You are among an extremely small group of privileged people. The one clip I saw of Dead live on stage was intense and amazing.
drageben Yeah,he watched Snuff Films and sold blank tapes with Burzum covers at his record store. I wish both Dead & Euro could've lived and grown up on their on terms like us. Would be cool to hear both of them talk about the late 80's early 90's on RUclips Vimeo or a podcast.
The past few days I watched the moon in the sky grow more visible with each passing night. Last night looks like a full moon but I reckoned it was probably a 80-90% visible moon. I woke up at 3 am and stepped outside and looked to the sky and knew it was completely full and immediately thought of per. I listened to this song while I stared at the full moon in detail I never witnessed before, completely captivated by the surrealism of a rock orbiting another rock while contemplating and wondering how these simple "rocks" have so much power, influence, creation ability and life giving properties.I felt as though I was with the band meditating on these values and it was a great 6minute experience.
Its Just crazy, how the mental state of one Band member Had such a big impact in creating a completely new Genre. Mayhems live in Leipzig or in General their First concerts in the 90s where clearly the starting point of 2nd Wave black Metal. I don't Thing that without dead the music would be that extreme than it was. So its all about dynamics in a band context, and living for months together with a depressive Person who loves the dead Had surely an influence on the other band members getting Musical more extreme than it They were on deathcrush some years before . So my thesis "without the Depression of dead their would have been no norwegian black Metal or at least Not in this Intensity".
its like you can feel the harsh norwegian winter through the music.

When you listen to this, it takes to another place. Cold and dark. It gives sense of belonging.
Admit also that Euronymous solo totally rules.
Funny how I find peace in a cold dark place sometimes I did a hole and be there , enjoy the smell of mud, with very lil light, I like to be alone, there's something peaceful about it
It’s like stopping the time. This is so rare. Such art
Ba dum *shotgun blast*
I still don't believe that no one ever recorded a video of a Mayhem gig with Dead and Euronymous, someone probably has something recorded but don't want to share it on internet
space witch
It's possible any live recordings of the Dead/Euronymous era of Mayhem are inaccessible.
88-91 was the era of large primitive home recording cameras.
Cameras get lost,
exposed to weather,
or simply succumb to age.
If someone didn't have their recordings switched over to a newer technology, they lost any recordings on said camera.
Actually there are three shows being released on DVD that have never been seen with Dead.
I believe they are set for release this year...
Would love to see those....

but instead giving it all, his bandmate give him a gun

That's true. Nobody deserves to be so trapped in their head to the point they make their own end.

The lyrics of this song is a complete masterpiece... I feel frozen my blood with "dead" voice... No words for this! Brutal!
DEAD was way ahead of his time! His voice is so seductive & menacing at the same time. R.I.P Pelle Ohlin
So ok I'm new to this .... Dead passed at the age of 21??? And he was an active vocalist how long?? Someone help???
@@erynoise I know a little more now. I think he was was with morbid early in that 6 year stretch.
@@user-LadyLuna are you a family member? If so I'm sorry about your loss. I think in a fantastically weird way he was loved within the scene..
Morbid's album
December Moon released in 1987. Johan
Scarisbrick was the next vocalist for Morbid after Pelle had left the band.
Great sound, vocals are incredible. Maybe the best version of this song. Follow the freezing moon!!!
The guitars are barely audible once the vocals kick in though. I mean are the guitars even still playing? I literally can't hear them at all. It sounds like drums and vocals only.

For a handsome guy, Dead had a very traumatic past but a very morbid voice & one of the best voices in black metal. Long live Dead.
Handsome? you're being quite generous. Cute, more likely. The cuteness of youth.
I agree, he really was handsome
@@Rh-sl2kt He wasn't cute, he was HANDSOME and BEAUTIFUL

@@grizzlybare3771 I know. But truly, he is immortal
This gives me chills while listening specifically it's my first time hearing black metal, Dead's voice sounds so perfect and fit for this kind of music it's so sad his life was ended with such sadness and unhealthy minds.
You like nu metal?
“When it’s cold and when it’s dark, the moon can obsess you” -Dead Rest In Peace Pelle

This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. The moon has such a beautiful presence.

Deads voices is the sound of all of hell and its bad ass
Its Just crazy, how the mental state of one Band member Had such a big impact in creating a completely new Genre. Mayhems live in Leipzig or in General their First concerts in the 90s where clearly the starting point of 2nd Wave black Metal. I don't Thing that without dead the music would be that extreme than it was. So its all about dynamics in a band context, and living for months together with a depressive Person who loves the dead Had surely an influence on the other band members getting Musical more extreme than it
They were on deathcrush some years before . So my thesis "without the Depression of dead their would have been no norwegian black Metal or at least Not in this Intensity".
how the fuck can u sound so angry, hopeless and depressed at the same time? i don't like black metal but this guy is a complete legend. rest in peace
