What would be the best one to scan pipework so sizes can be determined for fabrication?
Hmmmm.... outdoor, large parts -- BEST would be the new Einscan Libre. Second alternative.... one of the laser scanners, either Freescan Combo or Einscan HX2 -- the lasers help a lot capturing data in brighter light. You could always go out and scan at night, though, if it were in the field -- then, it depends what you want to do with the data :)
Atos 5. $95000. Which of these scanners has interface language that interact with a 3D printer? Specifically which scanner has data file that allows modification of the scan and communicates with which brand of 3D printer to produce modified scan?
I bought an H2 (around 5,000$) from vision miner and I have to say, their customer service has been a pleasure to work with. They really are friendly and help trouble shoot every time I have called them.

Better than the H2, with the lasers -- you can get a lot more detail! No HX2 expected date, at this point -- they're focusing on the freescans, but maybe we'll see something EOY 24 or sometime in 2025, hard to say!
Hi so I have nearly 100 American Diorama 1/24 figures that I purchase back when I was first starting of in dioramas and I was wondering if you could direct me to a scanner that would work for scanning these figures lets say from a turntable. Right now I work in 1:48 scale and have a Creality Halot One Plus 4k Resin Printer that I want to use. So I am looking for a scanner that can scan at a good resolution and then be able to save as an STL file for printing. Hope you can help me. Hi. Thank you for these great videos you make. I have a question, i need a 3d scanner for reverse engineering and the hx model deosn't fit in my budget. Do you think I should buy h2 or pro hd for better resolution and also accuracy and details given. Thank you so much.
Hi, I need your thoughts before making a purchase. I'm currently looking at the Artec Space Spider and the FreeScan Combo (possibly the FreeScan Trio). I will mainly use this scanner for scanning hands and feet, including nails. Eventually, I will measure finger and nail sizes as well. Which scanner do you think would be more appropriate for my needs? The Accuracy is really important as well.

A house would be more in Lidar territory, where you would capture the entire building in a matter of hours. With something like this, you're still going to "paint" the entire house with the lasers using the scale bars in photogrammetry mode, so that's a bit bigger than it's intended for :)
Does the HX also capture color as good as or better than the H2? Or is it H2 = Best Color, Average Accuracy and HX = Best Accuracy, Average / No Color?
Hi, thanks for your videos. Very helpful! - At the moment we are working with a kinect azure but it's just not precise enough. Do you have a recommendation of what to buy when upgrading? - We'd be interested to include the new device in our real-time scan workflow in Rhino Grasshopper. So a solution that can scan upwards from 15 fps and is compatible with plug-ins etc. We usually use it on a tripod and just scan one perspective. Ideally of course multiple devices from different angles could be connected.... and then again the budget.... If you have any ideas or hints, that would be much appreciated.

3D scanners have come a long way in a short amount of time relative to a lot of tech devices. It wasn't that long ago that you needed a dedicated studio environment to get a decent scan, and you still needed A Ton of digital finessing to get a usable model out of them. Einscan makes dynamite tools and would be the company I'd go after if I had a use case where I would need them more often than borrowing a bud's tools once every few months. Now that portable scanners are seriously capable, I've been looking at them more often just to have one in the toolbox. 👍

For example, scanning a part to compare to the CAD drawing or measure specs to 20-microns or replace CMM style inspections etc. Also those NeRF apps usually upload the scan to the cloud for processing. I doubt proprietary or gov agencies would allow that. Still very cool.
0.5 Micron? You must mean 0.5mm -- half a micron is electron-microscope level. Regardless, AI generated geometry is not actual geometry -- I highly doubt that will work for a machine shop. Great, awesome technology, for sure -- but definitely not applicable to what we do here at Vision Miner, in regards to inspection and manufacturing -- apples to oranges :) REALLY cool stuff though, can't wait to scan some buildings with video capture!
