  • I took my fishing jet ski 20 miles offshore to catch these fish! In this episode I head 20 miles offshore in my Sea-Doo Fish Pro in search of big offshore fish. We found this old Shrimp boat that had a ton of GIANT fish on it!

Never tried Jack before. Bonita is actually really good cooked like tuna if you do it super fresh (day you caught it). The best way I've ever had Spanish is a smoked dip. I smoked about 30 a couple weeks ago and made a ton of dip and it absolutely incredible. Honestly one of my favorite ways to eat fish ever.

In Hawaii, the jack family is prized table fare (giant trevally and bluefin trevally (Omilu). Any jack over 10lb is called an "Ulua" and those 9lb and under are called "papio". We ate quite a few 1-5lb papio and always enjoyed it, especially the Omilu.

@southernsalt very first assignment as a newlywed butter bar, and again about ten years later. That second tour, we lived in a 900 sq ft shack (all five of us + the dog), right on a beautiful flat on Kaneohe Bay. I just left my kayak tied up in the water behind our house. Caught many jacks and bonefish (Oio), including a couple 10lb trophy boners. The good ol' days!

It's has come to my understanding that you have never eaten a jack fish. I'm a Bahamian, and in the Bahamas jack is one of the go-to fish for frying. It also pairs well with grits and avocado, and especially if it's stew (stew fish). I'm sorry if you don't understand it's a Bahamian thing.

That sea doo seems to work awesome for fishing out there. That jack put up a heck of a fight. I caught one that was 28.06lbs (so probably close to the size of that one) during the saltwater finaddicts tournament last year and it only took 5 minutes to get him in on my 3000 series trout rod. I think they're easier to get on the smaller gear because they can only put so much pressure on you at once 😂 Love the shirt BTW!
