My teil used(she passed long ago) to do that, she ADOREDDD ME, but man when she got in that nesting mode she would bite down as hard as she could and hold on. She would never dare do that normally, and if she didn't like something she'd gently and carefully just nibble at me telling me she didn't like something. But that instinctual nesting behavior, oh boy they become very very territorial.

(He was a parrotlet, smallest type of parrot) but he died a year ago, which is sad, but at least I constantly don't have to be on the watch for him…

It's their nesting behavior. They look for small places where they can nest, and then they get very territorial about those places. Last time one of mine got like this I had to gently throw a towell over her to get her from there.

I had a neighbor who had a cockatiel named Echo who used to hide under the newspaper at the bottom of the cage. They thought it was a male, until they found an egg one day. 😱😆😂
She's cute. Most cockateils hate direct sunlight. They need some place to find shade. Areas near windows are a BIG NO. The drafts will scare them. Mine love fresh kale, cilantro stem and leaves, dill stem and leaves, broccoli, broccolini, carrot, red part watermelon. Always give these fresh because they spoil very quickly by the end of the day and need to be thrown out. If you see their poop looking flat and acidic this is really bad. Fresh Watermelon and cilantro really help with digestive issues. Their poop area needs to be cleaned every day or it could contribute to both respiratory and digestive issues. The watermelon and carrot are rich in Vitamin A which is beneficial for the respiratory system. Give at least once a week. In addition give fresh water and seeds daily. If you they are pregnant they need a good source of calcium, carrot, seeds etc...If you live in the US, zupreem added vitamins and minerals pellets are a good addition. We as bird owners need to be attentive to their every need. If they appear lethargic for extended periods of time and sit perched in the corner of the cage not being their regular cheerful self this is bad. You must take to vet. If they are breathing through their mouths with their mouths open you need to take to vet. If they have xanthomas/masses forming on any part of their body don't wait take them to the vet for removal as soon as you see one. Also make sure ALL areas near the cockateils are clean of any debris especially any metals, christmas tree decorations, glitter, etc... They are known to pick things up from the ground, if they ingest any of these things they will get stomach problems and can die. You have to be very observant with your bird (their surroundings, what they are ingesting, etc...) Sometimes this can be paint from the walls, or cardboard boxes from Amazon which might have pesticides sprayed in it for covid 19. Don't give or keep them close to any of these things! Hope this helps in taking care of your precious sweetheart.
Are you sure is a male? Because that is a beehive of a female when they want to nest lol... They swing side by side and they are more aggressive and protective they consider that spot as their nest ☺️
My budgie mavi did the same thing but get stuck between the wall and closet I thought he was playing but after an hour I realized that he get stuck 😂thank God we get him out of there
