when birds squint their eyes like that, it means they really trust and love their owner
No it doesn't. It can be excitement, fear, curiosity etc nothing to do with love. Nice try though

Yeah because of her "dull" colors :(. I'm really glad this girl took her home and didn't care about that. I'm trying to get 2 conures and the price difference on colors is insane. From 475 to 2200. I really don't care what color they are, they're not for showing off. I just want some little buddies.
But it does make me sad when I see the super expensive ones are getting older and not being bought because people don't want to pay 4-5x the price for one just because it has a blue head.

Lucyferus Belial no it isn’t that’s just bullshit from 10 years ago. If a bird is in a flock the best bird doesn’t stand or fly at the highest point they can, so it doesn’t make sense. I had a cockatiel and he would always stand on my head or shoulder, he didn’t act up, he just felt safe there.
Sadly I now have actual landing strips. :p
I used to think birds were overrated pets. And then my daughter got a Cockatiel last year for her birthday. Fast forward to present day and Darwin now lives with me and is literally my best buddy. I cant picture my life without him. 👏🐦
Had a cockatiel for like a 1 year, he was my sweet little angy boi, hes name was Xilito and this year, he flew away. He liked to be kissed, when i was on the couch, he crawled me and stayed in my chest while his head was against my mouth, i miss him a lot and i hope he is happy now with his freedom

Bonding with a bird is a magical and rewarding experience. I've had dogs and cats but there is something about being loved by a bird that transcends other pets, at least in my opinion.
Any animal is equally special to bond with 💞
The are just so smoll, fragile, and free and it just hits different
@@NPClownumber81googolplex I think that is a big part of it. I just know that when my bird bonded with me it was a different level of special for me. I've never loved an animal so much.
Bc birds are magical creatures they are heaven creatures i always feel that i feel something is différent about birbs, it is mentionned in holy books that only birds will b present in heaven
Also cuz their not domesticated so it takes extra work or patience to get to that stage of bonding. Feels special to me.
What a gorgeous,affectionate bird.
I had a cockatiel for 17 years and she would only let me near her. She would see me coming along the path to the house after work and i could hear her calls from the end of the long path. Every day i would go straight to her cage once i was home and i would open the door and she would climb out and to the top of the cage then fly onto my shoulder.
Sometimes she would sleep on my bedroom door and the week she passed away while i was trying to sleep she would fly down and land on my pillow and spend the night right next to me which was unusual for her but made sense once she died.
She was a good age and died of natural causes and I’ll remember that day till i die....i knew something was wrong and as i held her in my hands she let out a little chirp and took her last breath. I was so heartbroken and even to this day it brings a tear to my eyes thinking about that day😢
I never knew how affectionate and playful cockatiels could be...they are such wonderful birds❤️
Tiels are such a loving type of birds. I had a Lutino named Angel and she was always with me when I was home. And she'd hear me wake up and would call for me and if I didnt come get her after a few minutes, she'd wolf whistle. When I'd get her out, she would tweet "mirror" so she had to go to the mirror and check her self out. Even my vet said he had never seen a bird who loved their owner like she did. She died of a stroke after I had her for 11 years. Me and my vet cried big time cause she was his favorite patient. Angel was my child before I had one of my own. I never forgot her and shes been gone since 2006. RIP Angel. Daddy misses you.

I used to have a cockatiel when I was a teenager, he called spike, loved that bird. I’m now 43 and live in a small flat near London, I have small roof terrace and I have a Magpie that has been visiting me day on day during lockdown. Gradually becoming more and more tame. However it has become a slight nuisance as removing coloured stones/decorative stones from my rooftop plants. 🐤
They like shiny stuff. :)
@@JustMe-vk4fn yes they sure do, the magpie also decided to remove a plastic strip along my doorframe with its beak and now it is letting in rain 🤔. I forget to add that my cockatiel ‘spike’ father! belonged to my Auntie, he was called Charlie and lived until he was 28 I believe!!! Unbelievable. Loved your story - I had a Cockatiel for 26 years - he dies a couple of years ago - I never knew they could live that long - He always said Hello - even in the dark if you walked by his cage.
She reminds me of my cockatiel Nina, that I got as a birthday gift when I was around 10~ years old. She was the sweetest pet I ever had. Nina would climb the sofa to sit on anyone's chest so they can give her pets. She was very sweet, docile, and adorable. Also, whenever me and my family had to leave home, she would shout at the top of her lungs to us to come back, and we could hear her from the other street. Sadly, she passed way and probably she suffocated under the sofa covers (only my brother saw her and he was very young at the time and he doesn't remember quite well).
Now I have a cockatiel named Chico. He is almost 1 year old and he is the funniest cockatiel I ever met. He loves to sing (even though he is a little tone deaf) and to shout whenever he is alone at the living room (he hates being alove even if he doesn't beg for attention when we give him company). He is a little more independent than Nina but he is still a curious little fella that likes head scratches. He mimicks the sound of water dripping whenever my dad is making coffee and he makes the sound of a door opening whenever he hears one. He gets quite angy when we leave him alone at home and he treats every tight space as if it was his nest. But I still love him alot.
We can't wait to get him a new friend though. When quarantine ends, it's gonna take some time for him to get used to stay alone in the house, so we plan on getting another cockatiel to give him company :)
@Cetrouz
I had a wonderful cockatiel named Chico! 13 beautiful years,we had together. He was intelligent, extremely funny, and so loyal.❤️ Enjoy each day with your Chico 🐤
People that have never had birds in their life have NO idea how wonderful they are. They are so loving, so smart, so curious and so dedicated to their master. I'm too old now to have another bird in the house but I am blessed to live on a lake so I have two white ducks who live on my dock and some to me when I call them. PLEASE be extremely careful if you allow they to fly in your home. I lost my cockatiel -- an error was made and he missed a shoulder and he was gone out the door. They are the fastest flying birds in the world. He was scared and excited and flew like a rocket straight up screaming all the way for me. It was at Christmas time 1997 and I was heart sick for weeks...after all these years I still tear up thinking of Sidney who looked exactly like your friend.

People who don't want 'duller colors' are looking for an ornament, not a pet.
Are people not allowed to have a preference? If someone has a colorful bird, is it always an indication that that owner is superficial? What's wrong with colorful birds, why do you look down on them, after all, it's not their fault they are a different color...? What if I said to you because you have a less colorful bird that's just vanity and want to be praised for not getting a more colorful bird? See how being judgmental works...

How do you potty train them? When they fly all over the house don't they potty everywhere?
@@frenchvanilla7109 very easily actually, repetition training with their favorite treats, pick a particular spot that becomes their "toilet" and when their about to poo(observe your birds body language for visual clues) take them over there and give a vocal or sound command/phrase like "poo" or "go poo" when and if the bird does poo there then reward them verbally and give them a treat, positive rewarding with food seems to work very well with many animals.

Aww! Ive never seen such a sweet female cockatiel before!
She reminds me of my little birdy. She was just like her she would fly to us when we left the room and would always eat when we did. She was the gentlest og things and loved sitting on my head too
R.I.P pika I will remember you forever ❤️
