I started watching your channel to learn as much as I could about having a garage built. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. Here I am two years later and they will break ground on my garage build this summer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
Let me start by saying that 3 years ago I had a stroke and the state took my CDL and retired me. The recovery time was when I found your channel. It took a while, but you got me inspired to get up and build something. I now have a 12by24 shed that looks like an old time general store. It must look good to other folks too because people keep trying to buy it. Thanks Ken!!!
Like the new layout of the tiny house on the trailer. It will allow the use of the space under the house to store house-related/camping things like fishing poles, tools etc. Will be watching the completion and mods along the way with interest.
Too bad you woke up to no power Ken! I'm glad you could find what you want between the two stores. I'm so glad you have such a good day. Nice that he gave you some pieces of hardwood. That's great he made a wooden Spatula for Sandy. Even something for the railroad! Thanks for being so generous to Ken Folks, you know who you are! Nice trailer. Might sell it with the trailer? Talk about a mobile home! Level! I'm so glad it's a nice day for you. I'm glad you get to use your air gun. I'm a little confused about the "floor." I guess I'll have to watch more before I "get it." Thanks for this video Ken!
Lots of room underneath the floor for plumbing and or storage . Great video Ken. Safe travels ,thx for sharing. Looking forward to the video series .🎉🎉
I’ve said it before, but Kaia is just TOO CUTE! The tiny house looks like it’s going to be an interesting project. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Hi Ken. Spalting is when fungi get into the wood and cause dark lines throughout the grain. It looks awesome and adds a neat design element to whatever you build with it. I worked with a guy who built the very first tiny house on a trailer in western Canada back in 2014. He had built the first with his dad and needed a real carpenter to come in and refine the process, which I did and showed them how to maximize materials use, proper framing, finishing, etc. He used a flat deck trailer where the wheel wells were inside the width of the deck so we were able to build to maximum width by framing around and over the wheel wells, giving us more interior room.
I have a 7x14 trailer and to keep it level I welded two brackets for *scissor jacks* on each side at the back and put those down when loading. The jacks are bolted on and the nuts are tack welded so they won't back off and have become a permanent fixture on the trailer. I use a 3/4 socket and a battery-operated impact driver/drill to raise and lower them when needed. There is no sag which allows load or offload without having the trailer attached to the vehicle. Hand crank Jacks would work also but they do not retract as much for road clearance.
Looking forward to the evolution of the little tiny house!! I just downsized to a 510 square foot house and I absolutely love it!!! It’s great to let go of “stuff “ very emancipating!! It’s also wonderful seeing you embrace retirement!!
Looking forward to this series! I’ve got a trailer that I’ve wanted to put a little house on also. Maybe watching you will give me the ambition to finally do it.
So excited about this project. Even more so since you've decided to build on top of the side rails. I like the 2" plus 1.5" insulation to bring up to a nice R-value on the floor. That's a nice touch. I'm curious what the overall height will end up being ... because I don't know what the legal limit is for highway transporting. Fun project. Loving it.
Another thing if you build on top all your piping and everything can come underneath the building because you'll have that little bit of space between the building and the floor of the trailer fort to be able to pipe underneath it running the pipes out wherever you wanna go
I like that the sides are lifted, but it might have been good to keep the center depressed to the original bed of the trailer. This will provide the head room you wanted while pushing cabinets and couches/benches out to the sides. Similar to the old slide in campers that fit into pickup truck beds.
this is what you should do - with some help from bigfoot maybe - I think you want to make the trailer a jig and then stack up wall components in 8x8 ft sections - assemble on site v quickly or sell with trailer - build the trailers too - also with jigs and minimal welding - use grade 8 fasteners #day labor #wildlife day labor
Hi. Great job Ken, I might have been tempted to still fit the 4x4's have then floating underneath so that they are there when you slide it off the trailer? Cheers.
Soooo, what's in the plan to keep this structure on the trailer in case of bumpy roads and hard braking? You can't rely on gravity and drywall screws for that part. Perhaps J-bolts or U-bolts through the finished floor to the trailer frame? Maybe 6 on each side? It needs to be bullet proof out on the highway.
Hi Ken, can you please consider changing your dog's neck collar for a harness? I see how much he pulls and will do harm to throat over time. He will love you for it. Thanks.
Ken you give us entertainment and education not that I will ever build any thing but it’s like friends spending sometime together do miss Chad, Dan and Lauren hope I got the spelling right
Ken why not build it like a slide-in Camper It would give you a lot more room with the door in the front and use the built up sides for sinks seating ect.
Building it on the 4x4s on the floor of the trailer made great skids for unloading. How will you unload it now that its all sitting up on the side rails?
He can still under frame it and add the 4×4's, or add 4×4's hanging off the frame and just slide some planks or beams underneath them when it needs to slide off.
Not once the 4×4's are attached. The total length of wood cantilevering over both sides bringing the span down, plus the 4x's themselves will take a lot of flex out. Best example would be to attach em anywhere from 5 to 6 ft apart with 1 to 1.5 foot cantilever on each side. Many large sheds and cabins are built this way.
Hi Ken I was wondering if you still had the trike still for sale and if so how much would you like for it thank you trying have a nice day and may God bless you and your family
@kenskarpentry I just want to thank you. I just can't spend that much money at this time. Because I am on a fixed income and my daughter said that I should wait once again thank you try and have a nice day I will see 👀 on the next videos 📹 and may God bless you and your family
It is good to watch the progress of "Little House on the Trailer". Again, all the best as you show us your build.
Thanks

Thanks there’s a lot of storage available under there
You are truly a Craftsman in your own right. I really enjoy watching your videos
I appreciate that! Thanks
Great start to a fun build. I so enjoy your carpentry videos the most. Like the others also, but this is right up my alley. Thanks for the variety.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching
Look at that sweet little farm in the background! Looks pretty nice. I’m sure the chickens are loving their digs!
They are! They’ve got their own castle

Thanks 👍
Kens garage sale is doing great! The free electric bikes should pay for the new generator 👍🍺
Going well
Don't leave air in your compressor because it will rust the inside of your tank
Thanks
I’ve said it before, but Kaia is just TOO CUTE!
The tiny house looks like it’s going to be an interesting project. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Thanks me too
$3000 for a gen, it must be a monster! I would not be without a generator ever again. Mike from Mass.
It’s basically a whole house

I sure enjoy your videos ken with kila. Very peaceful to watch with a calm demeanor in these bad times. Your wife has a good partner.
Wow, thank you

Thanks. Sounds like a nice house for you
Looking forward to future work on the tiny house
Thanks
Hi Ken. That was an excellent video love the way you plan & work this build looks amazing
roll on next episode.
Thanks, will do!
Another fun and educational view. I am enjoying your retirement. You are busy but looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks it is
Looking good
Thanks 👍
The 5 p's, prior planning prevents poor performance. Looking forward to the build.
I like that!
That's true.
Plus 🙏 PRAY
Looking forward to this series! I’ve got a trailer that I’ve wanted to put a little house on also. Maybe watching you will give me the ambition to finally do it.
Haha sounds good
I enjoy your videos, Ken. I am looking forward to seeing the end results

Thanks height limits are tricky. I’m going to stay under 12’ hopefully

Exactly. Thanks
"They seemed to like Kaiya"??? Of COURSE they liked Kaiya!! Always good to ruminate awhile on design, the end product will be better.
Right thanks

@@kenskarpentry glad you get to do fun stuff in your semi-retirement.
Interesting. Thank you. God bless.
Thanks same to you
Goooooooood morning, Ken!
Good morning sir
Same the scrap foam for the layout for mountains.
Good idea. I already have a lot of it
I was thinking about the FOUNDATION OF THIS TINY HOME. HOW YOU NEEDED TO BALANCE JUST RIGHT.
LORD SHOWED ME, OUR FOUNDATION NEEDS TO BE MORE IN HIM.
So true
Good morning, will be watching more of this. Thanks Ken!
Cool thanks
looking good Ken, keep it up.
Thanks
A great start for a new project!
Yes thanks
That ken is one hard workin fella 😊
Haha thanks
Yes Ken build on top,and out over the wheels, give you more floor space .👏👏☘️🇮🇪🔨🔨🔨🔨
You’re right
max width over the road will be 8 ft 6 in, including trim and roof eves. Gotta plan for that too.
Good Morning Ken and Kia! i Love watching your videos and your attention to all of the details in your work. :)
Good morning! Thanks I appreciate it
Consider putting drawers under the floor for storage.
Haha that’s actually part of the next video. Thanks

Looking for Bigfoot now
Another cool project. Your work is amazing.🏠
And I think Kia approved.
Thanks
Good morning, KEN and 🐶 .
BLESSED MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND.
👍 GREAT VLOG.🎉 love and praying with you in JESUS'S NAME AMEN
SE MICHIGAN 🙏❤
Good morning! Thanks
Hi. Great job Ken, I might have been tempted to still fit the 4x4's have then floating underneath so that they are there when you slide it off the trailer? Cheers.
Right. Plans have changed again
Necessity is the mort of invention (or figuring out how to make due with what you have).
So true. Thanks
Off to a great beginning! The village in the background looks great too
Thanks
Wow this is awesome, would of it been easier it all the tires were on the concrete
It wouldn’t have left much room to work on the other side unfortunately
Soooo, what's in the plan to keep this structure on the trailer in case of bumpy roads and hard braking? You can't rely on gravity and drywall screws for that part. Perhaps J-bolts or U-bolts through the finished floor to the trailer frame? Maybe 6 on each side? It needs to be bullet proof out on the highway.
Right. It needs to be anchored well
All right now we're talking, have a great day my friend off to work I go this is 8 in a roll .I am tired. Lol lol 🌴😎
Wow. Make hay while the sun shines
Ken, shouldn’t you put some Tyvek under the insulation to keep the moisture off?
It should be fine the insulation is waterproof and it won’t be exposed to the weather
Thanks for the video ken that was a busy day
It sure was
Hi Ken, can you please consider changing your dog's neck collar for a harness? I see how much he pulls and will do harm to throat over time. He will love you for it. Thanks.
I’ll look into that thanks
Ken you give us entertainment and education not that I will ever build any thing but it’s like friends spending sometime together do miss Chad, Dan and Lauren hope I got the spelling right
Thanks. Yup spelling is right
Good rainy morning!
Good morning. Currently we have sunshine
Ken tolle Arbeit 👏🏻👋🙂🙋♂️
Thanks
looks good so far
Thanks
Good day to all, peace.
Good morning!
Ken. Love to see your enjoying retirement . I'm recently retired, too. I'm finally building my own house. Enjoying every day of it.
Ken we know Al Lumnah bought you concrete finisher and vibrating screed, saw them in his shop on Saturday ‘s video.
Haha yup
Should be a fun build to watch
Yes definitely
Ken why not build it like a slide-in Camper It would give you a lot more room with the door in the front and use the built up sides for sinks seating ect.
So plans have changed. It’s going to be permanently mounted to the trailer
Building it on the 4x4s on the floor of the trailer made great skids for unloading. How will you unload it now that its all sitting up on the side rails?
Plans have changed….again
He can still under frame it and add the 4×4's, or add 4×4's hanging off the frame and just slide some planks or beams underneath them when it needs to slide off.
👍👍👍
Blessings
Thanks
That quite a bit of span for 2x4s. That floor will be bouncy dont you think?
It’s only spanning 6’9”. The rating should be fine
@ronlovell5374 it doesn't look like he's using the 4x4s any more, just sitting on the rail, but I could be wrong.
Just wondering how you will finish the outside of the outside wall where it will step up for the cantilever.
Lee
Still working on that
@@kenskarpentry LOL, maybe make the cantilever and finish it before you drop it down on the bed?
Good idea. 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice
Thanks
go ken Go
Haha I’m goin
How about a generator shed
Nice
👍👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘
Hi Ken I was wondering if you still had the trike still for sale and if so how much would you like for it thank you trying have a nice day and may God bless you and your family
Yes I do $1,000. Can you email me at kenskarpentry@aol.com
@kenskarpentry I just want to thank you. I just can't spend that much money at this time. Because I am on a fixed income and my daughter said that I should wait once again thank you try and have a nice day I will see 👀 on the next videos 📹 and may God bless you and your family
What's going on with the playhouse? I thought you were selling it.
Going to sell it soon
How are you getting that off the trailer
Plans changed! It’s staying on.
Are you still adding 4x4 to allow it to be off the trailer?
Plans have changed….again
I would for added floor strength, overall wracking resistance, and still have the option for removal from the trailer.
Good morning, Ken & Kia!
Chào bạn yêu Chúc bạn buổi tối vui ve
Thanks you too
