Great video. That's the first time I've got a real insight into what these factory bikes are like. Given it was built by Mitch Payton, it's no wonder it's so good. Well done to Kawasaki to.
Still amazes me that this bike is other worldly but it’s still not full factory 🤯 the one bike that I think would be amazing to break down would be RV’s 250 des nations bike he won both motos on. That bike must be unbelievable!! Love the content guys ✊
Those PC bikes back than were so much faster than everything. Mitch has talked about them a lot they could make them fast as hell but the motors blew up every race they eventually came up with a steel girdle to go inside the aluminum cases that held motors together for an entire race Langston, RV and Townley were unstoppable on those bikes.
This bike is as “factory” as you can get. There really hasn’t been a true “factory” bike since 1985. The AMA Production Rule instituted in 1986 states that any motorcycles raced in AMA Pro Racing Motocross or Supercross events MUST be homologated, meaning that a certain number of the machines must be available for purchase inside the U.S. prior to anybody competing aboard these motorcycles in said AMA Pro Racing events. Frames must remain stock, as can be purchased at a dealer, along with the rear swingarm. Exceptions are made for added strength. The engine mount LOCATION,along with steering-head ,swing-arm pivot point, and rear suspension linkage point must be the same as the homologated model. Subframe can be replaced, but must be made of steel , aluminum, or titanium ( NOT CARBON FIBER,unless the stock machine comes with a carbon fiber subframe ), but the subframe MUST BE OF SIMILAR DESIGN and use the same mounting points as stock. As far as the engine modifications go. Everything used to modify the engine ( piston, crankshaft, valves, and ect.) must be the same as the homologated model. There are more rule but that is the nutshell. I’ve been involved in the industry as a mechanical engineer and materials engineer developing performance parts for over 35 years. If you have the money you can buy a “factory bike” from just about any team. You CAN buy all the parts that the teams use.
@@mikebrown41182 So as far as magnesium engine covers go, Yamaha and KTM offer them directly from the dealers. If you search the web you can find a host of aftermarket companies who also offer magnesium side covers. You mentioned the transmission, from my experience these transmissions aren’t as trick as you believe they are. Some riders change the size of the gears and in most cases the transmission is VAPOR BLASTED to smooth or debur any imperfections. Most engine components are VAPOR BLASTED and cases are split and matched. All titanium nuts, bolts, screws, washers are available through several online companies. Magnesium wheel hub are also available online from several companies.
That's a total beauty. I only wish he elborated more on how the bike felt compared to other bikes he rode. Like what made it stand out. He obviously liked it over other bikes, he just didnt explain how so.
the same things that seperate works or factory racers over regular ones power of course but mainly top of the line ohlins suspension and set up by factory ohlins tech. From back in the day a few magazine riders rode great privateer bikes then works bike said power was almost equal just delivered differently downlow or mid range or high depending on tune for a track but the night and day was suspension and its tuning. said the works bikes could just go faster due to suspension
You did an excellent job describing this absolutely gorgeous ride. I’ve never been a huge four stroke guy, but the way you described it was hard to not love it. I’ve always been a Team Green fella, so it makes the bike that much more amazing, and it’s not even from the south. Speaking of green four strokes that aren’t from the south, ya know what’s not? Chad Reed and his early 00’s Yamaha Y-Zed 250 factory machine what needs oil mixed with the petrol. I’ve heard that the boys at Yammie dug deep to make that machine exist. Apparently it’s scary as fuck. I’m going home now.

The real deal? The design that goes into the KHI hubs is superior, PC would only be able Ti make them if they hire the top japanese enginers and get the equipment, but that would not be worth it. That is why PC buy what he needs and why they are only made in certain sets, Haan, Talon, Kite, what they offer to the public is not even close in quality to those hubs. But i would have to agree, it would be cool, but it would be a replica but the real deal would cost you and PC way to much money to be worth it.
