just replaced my headlight following this video which is excellent, thanks. mine is 2011 520d m sport so slightly different, spotlights different but same to remove. one suggestion which i found useful was to use 2 elastic bungy cords with hooks to hold the wheel well lining out of the way as it was really sharp and stiff, i just hooked them back and through the alloy wheel. my headlight was held with 2 bolts accessed from the front and 2 from the rear ie through the wheel well, the inner one at the rear was very difficult to get at and remove and i couldn't manage to replace it when i put the new headlight on so its just secured with 3 bolts which seems fine. one more thing if you are only replacing one headlight you dont need to completely remove the bumper, just enough so you can pull back the bumper enough to allow you to remove and replace the headlight, but do make sure you support the bumper underneath, i used a couple of cardboard boxes squashed to size. i did damage a couple of the plastic rivets so have some available if possible cheers Derek
Phenomenal video. For a complete car novice like myself who has a condensation issue on my BMW headlights, this is a task I now feel I could confidently take on. Thanks.
Unbelievable channel. First class! Replaced my bmw 520d headlight without even one question "how". Guide step by step with perfect details. I'm amazed how well everything is explained for non car savvy person like me. THANK YOU!
An absolutely excellent video - helped me remove the headlight on my 2012 520d. Was able to replace the indicator and adaptive headlight TMS module for £140, versus the ridiculous £3100 quote for a complete replacement from a main dealer. Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions . Just replaced the headlight TMS module , which needed bumper and head light removal . Very much appreciated ..
Thank you! The best instructional video ever. I just did it, had to replace the LED module for halo lights on 2015 528xi. They are only accessible from the bottom of the headlight unit. With this video it was a breeze.
This is a small smattering of our whole library...check out www.carcarekiosk.com for the full suite of videos for this 5 series...cabin air filter, coolant, etc.
Great and very clear video! Love the step by step approach, clear pointing out where all rivets and bolts are located. Well done and thank you!! This gives me confidence to start replacing the right headlight unit. Quick question: I pbb will only have a replacement without bulbs and/or control units: I expect I can easily swap those from my replacement unit eh?
Very well documented Video BUT - You guys Replaced ( Everything ) - !!!!! - REMOVE AND REFIT - and It will be Perfect - Only a little pick Guys - BUT AGAIN VERY WELL DONE -
Great video mate, I’ve been needing to remove mine for some time and watching how easy it actually is has given me the confidence to just get it done. I will finally finish my ACC retrofit!
Huge thank you for sharing this video. My angel eye module out so i need to change and I don’t need to ask Mechanic for do $200 . So I really appreciate it 👍
Could you please list down the tools you needed to get this job done? I need to replace my driver side headlight and this video gives me some confidence. Thank you!
Great video. Probably a dumb question, but can you check just the bulbs (with small hands!) -- by reaching through the hole after removing the top cover?
@carcarekiosk Regarding the two side panels that are removed first, there is a rubber weather-proofing strip on one of side of each, that can get dried out and crack. Any idea where we can buy more rubber trip to replace that with? Any good parts sites that you use for such things too?
Had the front drivers side head light replaced on BMW535I 2013 the vehicle's computer did not recognize the new headlight had to have the dealership reprogram the computer to accept it. It got so complicated that my insurance carrier sent an agent to witness the procedure. Headlight $2000+ total cost 25000 after all said and done. What a joke the head light fills up with condensation and the signal part of it has already failed just waiting for the rest of it to fail. We are retired and don't have that kind of spare change. Let it rot!!! Good job BMW. Good vidio but it is hard to do this process while in a wheelchair.
