Thanks for explaining how to hang houseplants in the way you did. You show great sensitivity in how your explain a project like hanging a plant - a lot of women are never shown how to do things like find studs vs drywall in a wall or ceiling. So much appreciated!
I recently just got into houseplants, so I only have 6 so far. I’ve been obsessed with learning about houseplants for weeks now, and you’re videos are very helpful! Can’t wait until my collection is a fraction of what yours is! 😂❤️
I have a couple plants hanging from the wall using wrought iron hooks that I think are for outdoor flower baskets. They sell them by the coco coir baskets at Lowe's. I use the big ones for larger pots because they stick out farther. I like it because it's easier to find a stud or use an anchor in the wall than the ceiling, and you can customize the height that it's hanging.
I wonder how your husband feels with all of these plants. because im so addicted to plants like u and my entire family is like please stop. but theres no stop for buying more plantsss.
In my opinion it's really important to balance my own desires to "have all the plants!" and the rest of my family's wants for our home. Because we all share the space, and it's important to respect others just as much as yourself. I try very hard to make sure the plants we have enhance/beautify our living space, and don't impede our actual living. It's no fun feeling like your roommate/family member's hobby is squeezing you out of your own home (from their perspective). 😫
Yeah I liked that too! You can buy those wreath hangers at the dollar store around Christmas. I know, wrong time of the year. *sadface But they also make over-the-door clothing hooks. Might try that.
1) I have to get a 'chenille' hanging plant now after hearing about yours! Adding that to my plant list. 2) I like your hoya. Mine is similar. I drove home some cuttings that a lady gave me in Maine. She was the new owner of a house from my childhood. She let me look around and go down memory lane. She had amazing plants. It was super sweet of her to give me some to always remember. Anyways, I drove a packed car, my dog and plant cuttings in my cup holder all the way home! I have since grown them into many plants and given some to friends. I love the sweet nectar flowers on them when they bloom. **** I enjoy your videos 🙂
Awesome video I never thought of using my curtain rod ends! WOOHOO NEW PLANT SPACE :) One thing I always do whenever I use toggle clamps is I put a bag of flour or rice in a shopping bag and hang it off the hook for 24 hours just to check the hold. Yes I'm paranoid plant Dad!
I'm in an apartment so hanging plants from the ceiling isn't really an option (I don't want to fill in the holes when I move into an actual house) but I do have a double curtain rods. I hang my actual curtains on the inside one(closest to the window) and some of my lighter weight hanging plants on the outside one so I can still see my plants when the curtains are closed. And just a note, you can find over the door hooks on amazon in 10 packs, they're shorter than wreath hangers but just as sturdy
Just left Pinterest and, indeed, ceiling rods are a thing 😬😄🤩. They do exist and the hardware comes with it. Common people hang curtains from them... 🤣 I’ll be one of the cool kids and hang plants from it 🙈🤷🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ Also... do you hang plants in your bathroom?
I am redoing my living room that has high ceilings. I will be installing pully systems to make it easier to place, water and generally take care of my plants I hang in there.
I like to hang spider plants too. They don't mind drying out so they can be lighter. I also saw these really cute macrame wall hangers that hang against the wall rather than from the ceiling and they have like a pocket. I'm planning to hang one of those between two windows where there is a really small wall. I also saw hanging plants on free-standing plant hangers that are like shepard hooks or even an old floor lamp or bird-cage stand repurposed for that. And I found this amazing plant hanging device on a foreign website (unable to locate one for sale in the U.S.) but it was almost like one of those corner shower caddies that are spring-loaded. Really cool. Yes, I too am obsessed with finding more house plant real estate!
I also like the jungle look and feel of many plants hanging. Have had hanging plants for over 30 years in my home, but last year I got the plant bug very big. I now have rods hanging on the original ceiling hooks suspended from chains with hooks. I put up brackets in the bedroom and the library and put one inch dowels across them. I do have hanging gardens now in the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and library. Still have many plants on my list. I love the canopy idea. Trying to figure out a way to hang more plants in the bedroom. Shalom
How about macrame hangers. You can hang them from the ceiling or on the wall. For me my favorites are the ceiling hooks as well as metal or wood plant hangers hung on any wall you want. It is hard to find them here in US, they are very popular in Europe. I'm from Poland so I grew up with it. I have couple of them from Poland but here I discovered great way to make them from metal candle wall sconces fitted with wire decorative bowls secured with zip tighs. You can find these really inexpensive parts in Goodwill or thrift shops. You have great wall hanger you can hang anywhere just with a nails or a screw. Great way to save space at home and have more plants hanging. I just thought you might like this idea.
Thank you ,thank you I was wondering how to hang my plants into the ceiling with those hanging hooks and now I know thanks to you ,I've been hanging some of mines on wall space also using candle holders that the little plate folds down so I put a plant pot on them and I will be putting up floating shelves, again thank you Sincerely Carol

GURL! It's like you're reading my mind! I was just talking to my bf last night about hanging up plants!! I swear! I've been looking for some heavy duty curtain rods for it. We rent, and we have blinds, no curtains, but the house has fantastic natural lighting. It was a must on the list when we were looking, hah.
If your plants aren't super heavy you can use large heavy duty command hooks! Stuff meant for like hanging wreaths and such. It's how I have my spider plant hanging :)
I love hanging plants and I just love your home!! Your bedroom will look amazing in a couple of years, too!! I'd never hang any plants on the ceiling, my boy has a phobia and I respect it, but I hang plants outdoors if I can and I'm hoping we'll have a gazebo this summer, which means: moar hanging plants for me!! We also don't have any plants in the bedroom, cause my boy sleeps in late now, so there wouldn't be enough hours of sun for the green creatures, but that might change one day.
Hi Harli! Great ideas! I have an old (1925) house that has many smaller windows with wood frames around them. I only use mini blinds, but am considering hanging curtain rods just for my plants, or using 2 plant hangers that I just bought from Amazon and putting a painted/stained dowel in them, which would stick out farther for bigger plants. For those with wall space (which I don't have), you may want to watch Betsy Begonias "DIY plant project: plant rack for hanging plants". That's what gave me the idea for using rods of some kind above my windows. I may have to dig out my macramé' supplies and make some hangers! TFS!
I have a clothes rail for my massive pothos. Underneath I put a calathea and a peace lilie which looks awesome. Therefore clothes rails are a nice and easy way for hanging plants without drilling any holes!
Thanks for making this video!! I actually searched before for a video on how to hang plants from the ceiling and couldn’t find a good one!! You explained that well and gave even more great ideas! Definitely will utilize them in order to make space (for more plants) 😆
Thank you so much for this video! So helpful! Loved the list of plants you give here! It’d be great if the names of the plants would be written down somewhere here, (to make it easier for us to find them) Great video!
Love. Love, Love your canopy bed with all the plants! It does look like you’re walking through a jungle and must be sooo peaceful. Any downside to having lots of plants indoors? Gnats? Insects? And how do you water your plants without making a mess with the excess water that comes out of the pot? Looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Goals! Much Peace ☮️ Love 💖 & Light ✨✨✨
Beautiful collection! I noticed you still have most in grower pots. What is the best way to water them? Do you need to take them down every time or do you place something under it to drain?

Thanks Harli for some great ideas on where to hang our hanging plants. I love the curtain rod ends, what a good place, also love using the over the door hanger. I use to have a plant pole that I put in a corner, it would also work on a long wall, it holds up to six plants, so sad when I moved it got given away, now I'm on the hunt for another one, it was like those shower things that have springy things on the top and bottom so you can adjust for ceiling heights. Thanks again for all your ideas, see you again, bye for now.
Hello Harli, I loved your hanging plant suggestions. I was wondering if you have advice on how to place a plant in a macramé plant hanger? I am tired of the struggle lol!!
I would appreciate to see a video of how much light (in quantity) you have in each growing space. I constantly use a lux meter app to see whether my plants get enough light and I would like to see how much light is enough for your plants. Especially because on camera it is not easy to show the true lighting. Thank you😊
@@ddvicious I use Lux Light Meter, it is very simple. Maybe there are better ones but this one suits me. It measures light intensity in luxes and foot-candles, you can store measurements with a name tag for example "bedroom sill summer" and recall it for later, measures average intensity and maximum intensity. :)
I have had 2 packs of those hooks for 2 months. I could not get it together. Thanks for showing us ( the less mechanical type people) the right way to install the hooks.
What a great idea using over the door wreath hangers to hang plants. I am going to try that as well as using the curtain rods. Was considering that in the kitchen for planting herbs. TFS.
I would love to see a video of you trying to shingle a plant! Like the satin pothos. Or making a post for a shingle plant or something like a monstera that needs to climb!
Harli I have a suggestion, wouldn't it be better if for the door hanging you use pots that are "cut" flat from the side so the pot does not move when you open the door? I mean kind of pot for hanging on the wall. I would think that a standard round pot moves with every door opening. And regarding the video, I am afraid that my fiance will not enjoy if I start hanging plants on the ceiling... So before I do this I start hanging them on the elements of my timber roof truss in our attic flat🤣 So far I have been seizing (😂) floor, tables, bookstands, walls as I just have two windowsills for 7 windows and inclined "walls".
Bougainvillea make fine hanging plants as well. They prefer to be kept on the dry side, so are fairly light, and mine bloom well indoors, adding color.
Thank you! Very useful video. Can I ask why you seem to just hang your plants in their plastic straight-from the shop containers? There are so many beautiful hanging planters and types of hanging apparatus (macrame, minimalist wire etc) that would m make your plants look SO much nicer...
Thanks a bunch! My addition to your helpful hints is for you to rush to your local Ikea or online and add 1-3 of Ikea's lovely 'Skurar hanging baskets' , plant pots and candle holder among your range, romantic flavour. Before they are taken out of production.
I want a home tour! It looks like you have a cool setup! I feel like I just have plants everywhere and it looks messy. How much light do you get in your bedroom for so much success? It’s super cool, kudos
Just as a friendly warning. I'm not an expert but plants emit C02 at night (with few exceptions like snake pants). I heard it's not recommended to have a lot of them in the bedroom. Really nice channel!
Hi Harli-- I love the way hanging plants look-- but...... any tips for watering them? I always make such a mess when I have hanging plants-- I try to water, the water goes on the leaves and runs onto the floor... I over water and it all comes out of the bottom of the pot... so then I under water and the plant wilts. In 30 years of plant keeping, I have never found a groove with it-- I have so many plants, but only 2 are hanging because they are spider plants and can take my abuse!
Lara B I use a little collapsible step stool and a watering can with a long, narrow spout that I can stick in the plant easily and make sure I’m watering into the pot. a lot of my hanging pots have no drainage so I put charcoal from Hoffman’s on the bottom to absorb excess water
Hi there, I recently added a lot of hanging plants to my home. Upstairs I use two tubs and set the plants in one and water the plant, excess water goes into the tub. I just keep pouring water from one to the other until all the plants have been watered. It works, not ideal, but I don't have a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs I just water them in the kitchen sink. Hope this gives you some ideas. Had to figure this out because like you I was making a mess and had water all over the bed and everything. Not working!!! Necessity is the mother of invention. Have a blessed day.
Awesome advice! I have several plants that hang from my balcony, and yes asparagus fern is one of them! ;) I love hanging trailing pants from shelves too.
Not just yet. I got distracted trying to keep my new wandering Jew alive before I hang it because it’s really bushy and hard to notice the leaves at the soil yellowing and dying. I’m struggling here
Really cool idea for the door hanger! I have a few for my Christmas wreaths but idk what to do with them the rest of the year lol. Also...kick ass Rammstein poster. Plants and German Metal go well together!
Hello Harli, I appreciate your videos. Can you please do one on the asparagus fern. I've been a hobbyist houseplanter for decades and am great at most plants. But have always had trouble with the asparagus fern. Thanks, Don
I just moved into a new home and have a small office space with a small window on the north side of house (long island). So, no direct sun and not extremely bright, except for electric lighting. I love ferns - do you have a fern recommendation?
I didn’t realize that the “hanging frame” was your bed frame. I was hoping you were going to show how to build it so I could adapt it to my space. Darn! Lol!!

So glad I found this I’m planning on hanging my tropical pitcher plants in my bathroom so they can soak up that shower steam 🥰
I have had 2 packs of those hooks for 2 months. I could not get it together. Thanks for showing us ( the less mechanical type people) the right way to install the hooks.
Same girl!!!! I have said that for years but have only got into plant survival / jungle life the past 4 years! 😉🤣
What a great idea using over the door wreath hangers to hang plants. I am going to try that as well as using the curtain rods. Was considering that in the kitchen for planting herbs. TFS.
I use the wreath hangers as well. They work great! 🙂
When I saw the plants around the bed I confirmed you are a crazy plant lady for real...haha. Good video!
Im a guy and i personally love this .. Just started to build my own garden
I would love to see a video of you trying to shingle a plant! Like the satin pothos. Or making a post for a shingle plant or something like a monstera that needs to climb!
Your video helped me hang my golden pothos! Thank you so much! 😭♥️
Yay! I am really happy to hear that ❤️
My fave way to keep my plants is by hanging them! 💚
I thought I had a lot of plants 😂 I would LOVE to breathe in your air quality 😍😍
Thank you! Very useful video. Can I ask why you seem to just hang your plants in their plastic straight-from the shop containers? There are so many beautiful hanging planters and types of hanging apparatus (macrame, minimalist wire etc) that would m make your plants look SO much nicer...
Great video!! The canopy bed is genius!!
Amazing video and your idea for a canopy to hang plants!? I LOVE THAT! Fortunately my husband says yes to anything I want haha.
Thanks a bunch! My addition to your helpful hints is for you to rush to your local Ikea or online and add 1-3 of Ikea's lovely 'Skurar hanging baskets' , plant pots and candle holder among your range, romantic flavour. Before they are taken out of production.
Beautiful space you've created and love your realness 🤗👌
Very helpful. I needed tips on both the hanging and especially what plants to buy. Thanks!
I want a home tour! It looks like you have a cool setup! I feel like I just have plants everywhere and it looks messy. How much light do you get in your bedroom for so much success? It’s super cool, kudos
i noticed that your asparagus fern pot has drainage holes.. when you hang them how do you manage the water draining out??
Funny thing is I found u about two weeks ago, when I was looking for plant hanging ideas.
Haha it's funny how that worked out! :P Did you get around to hanging plants then?!
Yesss hang ALL the plants! That’s for the ceiling info, I haven’t braved that yet!
Harli! you always come through!! I have over 100 plants at my house and I need to start hanging some of them. :) Thanks for all these great tips!
Love your plants. Thank you for info I'm ready to hang my plants.
Hello Harli,
I appreciate your videos.
Can you please do one on the asparagus fern. I've been a hobbyist houseplanter for decades and am great at most plants. But have always had trouble with the asparagus fern.
Thanks,
Don
Asparagus ferns definitely dont like to be water logged. So maybe overwatering? We plant them in our landscape in south Texas
Loved this!!!! And love your sweater 💚
Darn! Lol!!
Haaaaa I love you I am not the only plant hoarder Beautiful!!!!
THANK YOU for making this video!!! I have looked everywhere for a video to show me the step-to-step of drilling and installing hook on the ceiling!!! Now off to buy hooks 😉😉
This is awesome cause I been wondering how this works. Won't hang them on my window bar Cause my plant room is extra small. I'd block light to other plants but to each their area. Thanks.
omg your room is so sick, i love all the plant vibes
Yay a video on hanging plants!!! Loved your little hacks😉👍👍👍
Thanks so much Angelica! I really appreciate it. I am glad you enjoyed (:
Thanks this was helpful. Hung 3 plants. Trying to bring the outside inside

Great video I was so glad to see to hung on the door. Now I don't feel crazy that I hung mines on the doors. Lol I said oh well I'm going hang them from the doors anyway
It just adds so much space to hang them there! Definitely worth doing in my opinion (:
@@HarliG I already have.
