I hear you brother. Im an old man riding myself. These persons saying it’s America and I can do what I want have never been confronted with 1% ers or a dedicated club. I am a military retiree and a bicker of of 30 years. It’s all about respect in all aspects of life. Mess around and find out then wish you could have had a piece of humble pie. It’s sad to see that the new generation of riders don’t understand this and even more sad to see them pay the price. Stay upright and and keep the road hot!
Nobody deserves respect or 'etiquette' because they ride with a club...particularly not one that tries to get respect with violence. Your reaction when those goons were yelling at you ("why??") Was the correct one. I don't recall reading in my motorcycle handbook or hearing in my training that somehow, if approached by another motorxycle (versus a car, who apparently have no impact on the safety of such a pack) that this was necessary. The public is becoming less tolerant of this nonsense, which is whythe wearing of 'colors' will also be recognized for what it is...a threat of violence.
The issue comes in because you're claiming territory with the bottom rocker that's what the three-piece rocker means top is your club middle is your logo per se and the bottom is what territory you claim that's why biker wars happen because of turf
Great to get your take on the interaction with an outlaw biker club. There was no need for the driver/passengers of the white SUV to give you grief. Their vehicle had no Pagan identifying logos on it, so they should know drivers would assume the SUV is not associated w/ the club. Besides, if they were Pagan's, why weren't they on bikes, lol. Anyway, the Pagan captain was already cool with you. BTW, even if the club is a 1%er, the outlaw stigma isn't 100% criminal members. Any club has good people.
The whole biker cosplay thing is still wild to me. I know many of them, some very well known and even members of a few clubs that don't like to be spoken about and I still don't get it.
No it's a respect thing if you want to play in their lane you got to pay in their lane you want to claim a territory you fight to defend that territory that's the way they see it
@@adamontario2834 No doubt they believe they deserve respect, but it's completely undeserved which is why they're so triggered into childish temper tantrums. They don't own the road and anyone in a car or a more maneuverable or faster bike can easily prove it.

I’ve ridden on the streets of the United States for 40+ years, been in the company of multiple clubs, I’d leave the “bottom rocker” off. Yes America is a free country, with rights come responsibility, respect everybody .
It goes both ways you show them the respect they deserve and they'll show you respect by either, a letting you pass, or be maybe letting you ride along It's a safety thing for them they don't want their riders getting taken out by some newbie who doesn't even know which side of the bike the shifters on
@@adamontario2834 are you bonkers? "The respect they deserve"? Deserved it how exactly? By trying to bully nonMC rider to follow MC rules? Bullying is never a going to get you respect. Fear maybe but not respect. And dont you think respect should be somewhat equal on both sides? The true spirit of motorcycles is to ride free from all the everyday bs and following someone elses rules that have nothing to do with me doesnt sound much like freedom to me.
The issue with the bottom rocker is that signals to other clubs that you "own" that state/territory. It seemed like that wasn't clarified by the clubs in the video. Stay safe out there man.
I don't understand why a non club motorcyclist would express disdain for bike clubs, but then make themselves look like them. A bottom rocker indicates territory. Band patches and even a patch for your city or town, but why a rocker? Doesn't make sense.
Let me see, why do non-basketball wear shoes meant for basketball? I ride a motorcycle. I'm a Grateful Dead fan. What's the problem with letting people know that? I hope you weren't any debate teams. Your logic sucks.
@@OldGuyRidin grateful dead is not the bottom rocker debate. Bands, rallies, bike related. All fine. Bottom rocker is a design bike clubs use and made. As for name calling, you put this up for discussion. Or you could have switched off comments.
No name calling was done. A statement concerning logic in the discussion was. I researched the patch history. Once I did that, I contacted several motorcycle clubs (both legal and outlaw), asking if the lower rocker that I received reading 'MARYLAND' , the state in which I grew up, would be a problem. Both legal and outlaw clubs got back to me stating it would be best if I not wear it. I sent a picture of the upper and middle patches and got the okay. My argument is why shouldn't non-club riders have the option of an upper and middle patch? It's not a matter of emulating motorcycle club patches. It's a matter, for me, of letting people know I'm a DEADHEAD. Like I stated earlier, non-basketball players wear basketball shoes, Non-football players wear football jerseys. I get the lower rocker thing. That being said, the clubs gave me a thumbs up on the upper and middle.
Here are a few synonyms for "etiquette": civility, code, convention, customs, rules etc. Does anyone else notice that these so-called "outlaws" aren't really outlaws at all? It is an asinine oxymoron and a misnomer for one to refer to themselves as an outlaw and then immediately launch into all of the rules, laws, regulations that one must follow when riding anywhere near them. Even more bewildering is the fact that these so-called outlaws are quite frequently so incensed at anything approaching a trespass of their sacred trademark that they've hired lawyers to defend them in courts of LAW all over the world.
The best and three-piece patch is part of their culture so if you want to emulate their culture you need to respect their culture don't display a bottom rocker and you will be fine
Like it or not It's their world we're just playing in it, they live it, Most of those club guys put more miles in in one day than most of us will put in in our life so you show them respect and they will show you the same
I researched this and sent emails explaining my situation to both regular and one-percenter clubs. Both stated what you have stated. Sent pictures of vest with the three piece and without the lower rocker. Got the okay from everyone on just the upper rocker and middle patch. Hell's Angels actually wished me a happy Birthday and enjoy my retirement. All is good.
It's all about respect if you ride a bike you are expected to know this. That's just the way it is like driving with your lights on at night. Patches don't imitate a club they will be very insulted by this they go through a lot to get that patch and rockers. It's a culture not about you. You have to stop the me thing and follow proper protocol they're not bullies but if you disrespect them you asked for it.
Paranoia and fragile ego's can be a dangerous thing. We all work hard to achieve certain things in our lives but don't give others grief because they may have gotten theirs in an easier fashion. I just don't get the giving of respect to those who have no respect for anything other than their "clubs".
No respect to someone that’s on a motorcycle and can die in a second by anything you do stupid on the road. Go ahead and not respect them and you will find out why you should have listened to this man.
As someone in the motorcycle community the bottom rocker represents the state of the dominant club. There are protocols when it comes to the MC world
That's why I contacted motorcycle clubs (both legal and outlaw). I respect the protocol, but it seems like a lot of fragile ego's are at play as well.
As a new rider stuff like this is so intimidating…didn’t even know this was a thing lol. Thanks for the insights!
Chances are you'll never come across a one-percenter club but even non-violent clubs have these rules. Be safe out there.
Don't even worry about it. That's the last thing in my mind when I ride.
