I just tried it about 30 min ago and was fine up until them I killed the first one no issue but when they both started I just had no idea of there patterns I was abel to pogo for awhile on there heads but they jump everyonce in a while so idk I will have to go try them in the hall of gods but idk if you have to beat them first or not to practise them there because i can't practice nightmare grimm but i have fought him I just haven't beaten him.

Is it weird that it took me like 20 attempts to beat pantheon of the master while it only took me two attempts to beat pantheon of the artist. I think it took me so long to beat the first is because of that stupid brooding mawlek!
This. Dunno what it is about him but the mawlek is my kryptonite. I can no hit the pantheon till him then he takes all my masks... He's just plain in fun and obnoxious.
After being utterly demolished by the brooding mawlek and finally surviving with 2 masks, you can imagine how sad i was when oro showed up 😭😭 thanks for this video, your help is invaluable
For anyone wondering you can stand between oro and mato its very risky but when they use the double sword attack at the same time dash through them and you can heal, if you don't need to heal use the ground slam attack again its risky
I cannot agree more; being between the two of them is almost vital IMHO. That's the only way to get behind one of them, and when you're behind one of them you can just whack away for ages until he turns around, then Descending Dark as they both slash at you, and dash thru one of them after you land. Lots of extra damage, not a lot of risk when you get the timing right.
Here's a tip. When he slashes dash back, when he jump slashes dash towards him so you can get some hits off, and when he does the nail art do teh same thing you do with hornet, soul warrior, broken vessel, and every other boss with a dash. Just jump over him. When Mato shows up do the same thing but better. (When Mato does his nail art do the same thing for the jump slash considering it basically is the jump slash)
I have little trouble with the rest of this pantheon, but I always die in the fight with Oro and Mato. Sure, you can time to dodge their Dash Slash and Cyclone Slash, but the normal attacks were what got me. They have such a long reach with their nail that it’s often impossible to dodge out of their way.

So I’m fairly new to hollow knight (only got like 50 hours in the game) and I was amazed when I got to Oro and Mato first try, but had the wrongs charms, I had like wayward compass (which I think helped a lot tbh) and the geo catcher thing. This tutorial rly helped for both charm wise and the Oro and Mato attack patterns

All righty!! I watched your "how to beat trial of the fool" over and over tried to do what you did but it didnt work for me! But thats alright i learned their moves thx to u! I found the dreamshield and i used it! It worked so well! The first try with dreamshield i got to god tamer but it killed me! A couple more tries and i did it! And now here i am trying to learn the last boss' moves for thr 1st pantheon!!!

Well the first time I did the first Parthenon I though you needed all the bindings so I went for that😅 _-And that was the first time I ever died to vengefly king-_
I finally beat the first pantheon and I found usefull sharp shadow, especially with Dung Defender, Brooding Mawlek and oro&mato(ofc thorns of agony was usefull with them too😂)
A million years later, I came here looking to see if Sharp Shadow was a mistake. I threw it in solely due to the Mawlek - lots of avoidance dashes. It became really useful on Oro and Mato too
Wait what, they’re the final boss ??? I’ve Lost to Oro and Mato about 4 times in a row now and always thought there were still a few more bosses in that pantheon
on P4 where are you getting stuck? if is the same boss. Go and try that boss in Hall of God's learn their moves so can beat them then go back and do the Pantheon :)
Hey Relyea - I only started playing HK a few months ago. Hollow Knight is the best game I've ever played (I played Metroid 2 when it first came out on original GameBoy, been a metroidvania fan ever since). I got to 91%, before I needed some help online. There's a few people out there covering Hollow Knight, but you've got the best content by far. Used your content A LOT to get up to 108% now, with only the Pantheons left it seems.. Nightmare Grim and Trial of the Fool were tough, and Path of Pain was even tougher, but somehow the most fun!! Perhaps it's because it's just so rewarding, and there's zero chance involved, it's just you and the platforms. Anyway, just wanted to give you a long winded shout out as I've watched a bunch of your content, how to find stuff I'd missed, charms etc. and some tips for those bosses that on a first encounter you go 'WTF???'. Love your work, thanks a lot.
Thanks for the heads up on nailmasters. I was able to just go hard on the two at the end abd finish it forst try at a total of 13 minutes 5 seconds for the entire pantheon. Now for the other 3! 109%!

Best charms for me was unbreakable strength, quick slash, long nail, and my favorite charm dream shield!! Your videos have helped out a lot I got 2 accounts one fully complete because the help
@@AvrgJack you should use fragile greed combined with gathering swarm and run thru city of tears and some of the areas with lots of bugs. Also the colosseum of fools is a good way to rack up that geo!
@@brahCren do you know if Strength effects sharp shadow because SS does 1x damage of your nail, so does that mean if your nail damage is raised by strength the. SS is also raised
@@AvrgJack good question and tbh I don’t really use sharp shadow myself as you progress you get better charms so SS basically becomes useless. That’s my opinion. I did love using sharp shadow for awhile but after getting quick slash and unbreakable strength SS basically just took up extra notches I could use for better charms.
when dung defender does his swim attack and if you time it right you can just Pogo off of him and when hes is throwing himself around you can still hit him and do a decent amount of damage
Tips that i found as i played and watched people: Either VS or Shriek Vengefly King when it is stationary If you have quick slash, pure nail and fragile/unbreakable strength you can spam on false knight and basically perma stagger (same case for mossy boi as told in vid) On Hornet after stagger you can Shriek since she almost always jump Keep attacking Dung Defender when he throws the dung balls Mark of Pride helps and Descending Dark Dung Defender to get him out and stagger him for a bit and if you do it right you can kill him quickly On soul warrior you can pogo as he dashes and slash as he falls to get extra hits (mark of pride recommended) For mawlek, if you have quick slash you can spam and hopefully parry every slash it does, when it “rains” just s-dash through it and repeat At Oro and Mato fight try to use DD for the invulnerability frames (found this useful for bosses like zote before ceiling fall) Note that these are what I found useful so it may not work for you but feel free to try My main build: Mark of Pride, Quick Slash, Unbreakable Strength, and maybe heart
I legit found the dung defender and went into the white defender thinking I was gonna get my infected ass kicked! But I surprisingly killed him first try. The same happened with Grey prince Zote
I tried, like, 5 times and failed every single one. Then I watched your video and I realized how relatively "simple" it was lol, immediately won (btw I'm talking about the Oro & Mato fight specifically lol)
2:06 false knight is basically free If you've beaten failed champion Same with vengfly king and gruz mother (they're incredibly easy) And hornet protector is basically free if you've beaten hornet sentinel
Weirdly, I still haven't even gotten past Brooding Mawlek, so I guess that is the hardest for me Edit: Also weirdly, I killed Brooding Mawlek first try on the non-godhome
Is it bad that I still find Massive Moss Charger a pain in this? He moves so erratically, and I keep messing up trying to avoid him :D (Lost a goood 5 masks to that guy on my first go lol) (So I'm very glad that I know how to cheese it now ;) )
What i do is go to the wall then hit him down then go on the ground (to make them go up again cause if you dont they wont attack and you wont be able to hit them) then go up again. If it jumos go higher then hit down.
Here’s a tip for oro and mato: When you defeat oro, position yourself to the left of him a lil bit, and right when mato appears, you can dreamnail and dash out of the way quickly for a free 2 soul uses
It's so crazy watching your videos, while you're doing the fight, and commentating flawlessly. Every time I'm in these I can't speak, and my heart rate takes me back to college cocaine days.
I had an easier time with the second pantheon than this one. I don't know why. I just couldn't get past the brooding mawlek at times, and when I did, I never had enough health to deal with Mato and Oro. And I still haven't beaten the first pantheon thanks to it.
I actually have a godly easy strategy for Mawlek. I charge nail arts the whole time, and when he does the big spit, I shade cloak through it (yes I stay on the side it lands on) and slash dash. When he jumps, dash to avoid it, then cyclone slash from the lower area when he lands back in the middle. During the Cyclone slash I do move away from him since the range of the nail art is longer than his swipe.
Fun Fact that helped me out a little bit: Whenever Mato joins the fight and the brothers give each other that look and then that start "charging up" (like Dragon Ball Z characters or something) you can actually walk up to them and dream nail them to get some soul
While Oro and mato aren’t an issue for me I find it tough to control the fight most of the time. I got so lucky first time beating them with only one mask left. Had less problems no hit Grimm. I think it’s a mental thing that freaks me out and some of the rng with them
For the Brooding Mawlek, I usually Shade Cloak or (even better) use Desolate Dive to avoid his large wave attack. I find it a lot easier to dodge his attacks from one side than swapping between both. The safest time to heal is right after he jumps back to his original location after jumping at you, or right after shade cloaking through his acid wave. It's kind of unlikely but possible that he'll jump at you right after the acid wave or do his jump attack twice in a row, but you can usually get 2 heals off unpunished.
for anyone struggling with walking into the final boss right after getting all your hp taken from the mawlek just put on these charms: unbreakable strength, grubberflys elgy (i went half of the fight from just distance against the mawlek) deep focus, grub song i know it sounds crazy but try it it’s so easy
I can literally get all the way to Mawlek with full health and full soul, but even then can't get past Mawlek with more than 3 masks left over, so Oro/Mato are nearly impossible. Mawlek is SUCH a step up versus every other boss (including Oro/Mato) in this pantheon that he doesn't feel like he's in the same boss rush...
I remember I beat brooding mawlek in the pantheon. I was like "YES FINALLY I BEAT THE FIRST PANTHEON!!" And then I exit the room with godseeker and see that it's oro and mato (because I already knew that there were two of them)
I gave it my first attempt earlier just to see what it's like and died on the final fight so I'm pretty confident I can get it in a few tries when I have time
The charm build that finally got me through the Pantheons was: Quick Focus, Deep Focus, Shape of Unn, Grubsong and Spore Shroom (just for good measure). All that leaves so much margin for error like you wouldn't believe. Felt like cheating at times.
first half ez, second half gorbs a bit of a problem but dung defender free soul Then soul warrior depletes my soul and brooding mawlek make me low health and i just die to oro and mato
For hornet, I'd suggest *V E N G E F U L S P I R I T* literally, use it as much as possible on her. use it during her aoe attack, use it when she jumps at you, just use it so much.
During Dung Defender’s hyper stage where he repeatedly burrows and throws stuff, if you have claw or wings you can spam wall jump in the top corner and he can’t hit you. I’m new to hk sorry if I just said something obvious asf lol
I got to oro and Mato today. Died once they were both on the field. Brooding mawlek for me was tough so I used sharp shadow that helped me get passed him. I died to him the first time.
I just did my fourth attempt all sealed and I barely got past Oro but died when fighting Oro and Mato. I did not expect Mato to show up. Beating Oro was hard enough already. I'm gonna try doing it without the seals so I can practice Oro and Mato's attack patterns and then quit when I'm about to win so I can do it with the seals.
And extra tip for everyone struggling on the final boss, just dash in, get a hit, and dash out. It's a whole lot safer, and you almost never get hit. Also, I feel like I should really just emphasize that standing your ground when there are 2 of them is super important. If they corner you, just dash over/through them to the other side to keep space for yourself.
Hey this is probably a dumb question, but I've beaten this pantheon now. I got to the end and the end card says with a time of 16:54. But Now I can't exit it, I've pressed every key on my keyboard but nothing works. Im literally stuck. Help!
If you have trouble with a boss just go into the hall of gods and practice the boss solo with the charm setup you use for the pantheon, you’ll will eventually get better at the boss and then yoo xan go back and beat it easily, unless its the brooding mawlek, Nothing can prepare you for its stupidity

On soul warrior you can pogo as he dashes and slash as he falls to get extra hits (mark of pride recommended)
For mawlek, if you have quick slash you can spam and hopefully parry every slash it does, when it “rains” just s-dash through it and repeat
At Oro and Mato fight try to use DD for the invulnerability frames (found this useful for bosses like zote before ceiling fall)
Note that these are what I found useful so it may not work for you but feel free to try
My main build: Mark of Pride, Quick Slash, Unbreakable Strength, and maybe heart

Dung defender and white defender just hug the right wall, keep attacking and come out to attack when able. That easy 👌
I legit found the dung defender and went into the white defender thinking I was gonna get my infected ass kicked! But I surprisingly killed him first try. The same happened with Grey prince Zote
I have never had trouble with dung/white defender, yet gpz is hard for me
I tried, like, 5 times and failed every single one. Then I watched your video and I realized how relatively "simple" it was lol, immediately won (btw I'm talking about the Oro & Mato fight specifically lol)
oro and mato is the only problem, convenient they put it at the very end lol
2:06 false knight is basically free If you've beaten failed champion
Same with vengfly king and gruz mother (they're incredibly easy)
And hornet protector is basically free if you've beaten hornet sentinel

If you get long nail + mark of pride + quick slash + unbreakable strength you can defeat all the bosses.
What i do is go to the wall then hit him down then go on the ground (to make them go up again cause if you dont they wont attack and you wont be able to hit them) then go up again. If it jumos go higher then hit down.
if you have grubfly elegy, power strike, and quick slash The moss charger is melting XD

Here’s a tip for oro and mato: When you defeat oro, position yourself to the left of him a lil bit, and right when mato appears, you can dreamnail and dash out of the way quickly for a free 2 soul uses
It's so crazy watching your videos, while you're doing the fight, and commentating flawlessly. Every time I'm in these I can't speak, and my heart rate takes me back to college cocaine days.
It can be difficult for sure to try and explain what I’m doing and also worry about the next attack

You can Dream Nail Mato when he first appears for some soul before he and his brother scream.
If you pause at 9:13 at the right time one of them has a speck of dust lined up perfectly as a mouth

I had an easier time with the second pantheon than this one. I don't know why. I just couldn't get past the brooding mawlek at times, and when I did, I never had enough health to deal with Mato and Oro. And I still haven't beaten the first pantheon thanks to it.
I actually have a godly easy strategy for Mawlek. I charge nail arts the whole time, and when he does the big spit, I shade cloak through it (yes I stay on the side it lands on) and slash dash. When he jumps, dash to avoid it, then cyclone slash from the lower area when he lands back in the middle. During the Cyclone slash I do move away from him since the range of the nail art is longer than his swipe.
Fun Fact that helped me out a little bit: Whenever Mato joins the fight and the brothers give each other that look and then that start "charging up" (like Dragon Ball Z characters or something) you can actually walk up to them and dream nail them to get some soul
Gotta love how ALL of the bosses before Oro are extremely easy but Oro & Mato is one of the hardest fights in the game
I dont understand the strange addiction of the pantheon because its just bosses that you may have already defeated
there is at least one new boss in each pantheon. The last pantheon is a real challenge. its only for the try hards

While Oro and mato aren’t an issue for me I find it tough to control the fight most of the time. I got so lucky first time beating them with only one mask left. Had less problems no hit Grimm. I think it’s a mental thing that freaks me out and some of the rng with them
For the Brooding Mawlek, I usually Shade Cloak or (even better) use Desolate Dive to avoid his large wave attack. I find it a lot easier to dodge his attacks from one side than swapping between both.
The safest time to heal is right after he jumps back to his original location after jumping at you, or right after shade cloaking through his acid wave. It's kind of unlikely but possible that he'll jump at you right after the acid wave or do his jump attack twice in a row, but you can usually get 2 heals off unpunished.
Oro and Mato is currently the bane of my existence

for anyone struggling with walking into the final boss right after getting all your hp taken from the mawlek just put on these charms: unbreakable strength, grubberflys elgy (i went half of the fight from just distance against the mawlek) deep focus, grub song i know it sounds crazy but try it it’s so easy

I can literally get all the way to Mawlek with full health and full soul, but even then can't get past Mawlek with more than 3 masks left over, so Oro/Mato are nearly impossible.
Mawlek is SUCH a step up versus every other boss (including Oro/Mato) in this pantheon that he doesn't feel like he's in the same boss rush...

I remember I beat brooding mawlek in the pantheon. I was like "YES FINALLY I BEAT THE FIRST PANTHEON!!" And then I exit the room with godseeker and see that it's oro and mato (because I already knew that there were two of them)
I gave it my first attempt earlier just to see what it's like and died on the final fight so I'm pretty confident I can get it in a few tries when I have time
The charm build that finally got me through the Pantheons was: Quick Focus, Deep Focus, Shape of Unn, Grubsong and Spore Shroom (just for good measure). All that leaves so much margin for error like you wouldn't believe. Felt like cheating at times.
I have learned that brooding mawlek although annoying when he does his normal spot attack it is inaccurate enough to allow you to heal
first half ez, second half gorbs a bit of a problem but dung defender free soul
Then soul warrior depletes my soul and brooding mawlek make me low health and i just die to oro and mato
For hornet, I'd suggest *V E N G E F U L S P I R I T*
literally, use it as much as possible on her. use it during her aoe attack, use it when she jumps at you, just use it so much.
It took me so much time until i finally could beat mawlek consistantly in the hall of gods. But seeing mato spawn at the end was so scary 😂😂

During Dung Defender’s hyper stage where he repeatedly burrows and throws stuff, if you have claw or wings you can spam wall jump in the top corner and he can’t hit you.

When Hornet does her aoe attack I prepare a nail art using nailmaster's glory and get a good smack in.
oro and mato are the death of me. i got through the whole thing just fine on my first try until then until them.
I got to oro and Mato today. Died once they were both on the field. Brooding mawlek for me was tough so I used sharp shadow that helped me get passed him. I died to him the first time.
I just did my fourth attempt all sealed and I barely got past Oro but died when fighting Oro and Mato. I did not expect Mato to show up. Beating Oro was hard enough already. I'm gonna try doing it without the seals so I can practice Oro and Mato's attack patterns and then quit when I'm about to win so I can do it with the seals.
And extra tip for everyone struggling on the final boss, just dash in, get a hit, and dash out. It's a whole lot safer, and you almost never get hit. Also, I feel like I should really just emphasize that standing your ground when there are 2 of them is super important. If they corner you, just dash over/through them to the other side to keep space for yourself.
My first try on trying Pantheon of the master, I got stuck on Mawlek, and I still am.
When false knight knocked down use your cyclone slash it deals a lot of damage
False knight has to go through three phases. I don’t think you can skip a phase just because you did enough damage

Hey this is probably a dumb question, but I've beaten this pantheon now. I got to the end and the end card says with a time of 16:54. But Now I can't exit it, I've pressed every key on my keyboard but nothing works. Im literally stuck. Help!
If you have trouble with a boss just go into the hall of gods and practice the boss solo with the charm setup you use for the pantheon, you’ll will eventually get better at the boss and then yoo xan go back and beat it easily, unless its the brooding mawlek, Nothing can prepare you for its stupidity
Oro and Mari are just easier watcher knights imo
Quick tip: after mawlek does his double jump, you can heal a mask in the other corner
