These videos are by far the best out there - the best tutorial material I’ve ever seen and not a word spoken.

This is a very interesting comparison of two very similar throws (at least to an uninformed observer). In Chinese jacketed wrestling (摔跤 PRC / 摔角 ROC), we don't actually make a clear distinction between the two throws, classifying them as Xia Ba. The only distinction is that we would consider Uki-goshi a non-ideal Xia Ba (not perfect but it still gets the job done), while O-goshi is much closer to our ideal.
This is a great video series. Please keep them coming!

Everytime i see this throw(uki goshi) it’s different. I like the Steve Cunningham version.

Thanks for the AMAZING video I can learn soo much from it!
Now that I understand what the difference in the technique is may I ask what the advantages of both versions are compared to each other? When should I use which version and why?

    great way to remember:
    - uki-goshi, use your hip and make sure opponent fall at side
-ogosh, your butt goes to the other side and opponent fall over your back

La mínima diferencia es que en O-goshi mete más cadera, mientras en Uki-goshi lo desliza por el lateral con poca cadera. Pero lo hace de forma poco marcada y parece casi la misma técnica.
