  • In November 2022, I completed the Munda Biddi Ultra 2022, a 1049km ultra-endurance and self-supported bikepacking challenge from Mundaring to Albany in Western Australia through the Munda Biddi Trail, one of the world's longest off-road cycling track 🌲🦉🦘
The ride, in one way, was one of the most brutal, painful and frustrating experiences I ever had, but in another way, it was super calming or even meditative as I found a nice rhythm where things got very simple and I was able to completely empty my mind and only focus on riding and immerse myself in the nature 😌 There were only the bike, the nature and me; nothing else to worry or think about...
It took me just under 4 days to complete the ride, which led me to finish the ride first amongst all the riders 🥇 Whilst I had never considered winning an ultra event as the ultimate goal, it was nonetheless fantastic to cross the finish line in this fashion 🙈
Huge congrats to all the riders whether you completed the ride or not. I feel that reaching the starting point is already an enormous achievement 💯
Massive thanks to @callumridesbikes and @sachad_ultracrazy for getting all the bits together to make this ride happen and all dot watchers for all your encouraging messages, comments, and likes during the ride. Kudos to the Munda Biddi Trail Foundation and its volunteers for all their hard work in keeping this trail so awesome!

Great stuff Yohei. How do you manage the food? Do you just buy what you think will keep you going to the next town. Also what if you get there and the shops are shut? Sleep I guess ? Loving the vids mate. I would love to do a colab vid some time.

Thanks! I was eating a combination of different things: nuts, fruits, muesli bars and sugary snacks etc. If there was no resupply point nearby I would get some takeaways (Wraps and chips etc) and carry them with me for later. Sleep-wise I was having 1-2 hour sleep per day 😴

The fastest recorded was 2 days, 17 hours, and 22mins by Craig Wiggins back in 2020. I think that's mind-blowingly fast 🤯 mundabiddi.org.au/pages/test

Congratulations on a massive achievement! I'm wondering if this is the fastest unsupported North to South so far? I think now it is time for you to go interstate/overseas and showcase your incredible Ultra skills on the world stage! 😎

Thanks @ultracyclinglife I am not aware of any north-to-south records as most Munda Biddi record attempts have been done south-to-north for some reason. Yeah, I would love to try ultra rides outside WA and overseas!!

Mate, that is some serious crazy epic ride. I cannot fathom doing that. Did you sleep? How did you regulate riding for that distance, in that time sleep wise? Massive respect.❤

Cheers mate! I slept about 1-2 hours per day and was riding at a steady pace (around 70% - 80%) throughout to not burn myself out 🙂
