    we always clean and dry the draw compartment, drum and door after every wash, I also use a washing machine cleaner once every couple of months too for a more deeper clean.
    a useful tip for cleaning the back of the draw compartment if you cant reach, is to get a sponge on a stick or one of those shower brushes, they allow you to get into the crevices without smacking your wrists and hands on the plastic, if you have one of those steam cleaners oyu can also use them to clean the back of the compartment and the drain.

    I stopped using fabric softener because it gets all funky & leaves residue. Just think what it’s doing to our clothes!
    BTW ~ if you are mad at your spouse, use their toothbrush.

      If your fabric softener is doing that, you are using too cheap of a brand or your washer is using too little water to dilute it.

    That Miele is from 2008/9 - so I’m not surprised it’s so gunked up. Let’s hope it lasts for a few more years 😊

    The thing I have had most trouble with is the mildew in the rubber door seal even though the door is left fully open when not in use. I have tried all sorts to get rid of it and give the washer a deep clean at least every couple of months.

    Had Miele appliances for the last 25 years - always swore by them - have a S7 vacuum that’s now 15 years old and faultless. Having moved house 5 years ago we bought a new washer and dryer that matched. They have both been problematic constantly - the dryer was replaced completely and its replacement developed the same fault which was a banging in the drum/motor. The second one developed this just out of the 2 year warranty. Miele wanted £280 just to visit. The TwinDos washer started to leak and the electronics also played up. Similarly, just outside of warranty. So having spent close to £2k, in under 5 years they’ve both been scrapped. I would never buy this brand gain, their customer care has long since gone to Domestic & General like all the other brands and it’s utterly diabolical. For the money you’d honestly be better off buying a Beko every two years - would be cheaper.

      I have two S7 vacuums and they’re brilliant. Just need to work out how to replace the brush. Miele wanted nearly £200 per machine which is ludicrous!

      My Miele W1 washing machine had a TwinDos problem after just over a year. It was scrapped and replaced under guarantee.

    The more people buy modern "eco friendly" washers that combine "all in one" functions, the less time they will last and the more they will break. It is mechanically impossible to fit all the components of a washer and dryer into one unit and have it work properly. Can't be done. And it uses so little water you'd be lucky to clean a basket of socks.
    If you want to not ruin your clothes and actually get your laundry done, buy a washer and dryer made before 1990, preferably around 1972 or earlier. 90% of the time you don;t even need to pay anything people just give them away. I donated my 2013 Maytag and replaced it with a matching Westinghouse washer and dryer set in mustard yellow that I got at an estate sale for $50 for both. They wanted $100 but I said for $50 I will move them out myself and you won't have to do anything and they said "deal". I re-washed all my clothes and I can;t tell you how much of a difference it made. I was so happy I washed my bed too.
    You have to have WATER to clean clothes, and AGITATION. Something neither of these modern washers will ever provide, which is why they get full of mold. The mold is growing on the soap scum which forms because there is no water being used to dissolve it, so it just sits there. And you are just paying several thousand dollars for the privilege of making your house smell like an open sewer trench and ruined sticky clothing.

      Modern washers that arent combined do just fine using less water. Id rather be water efficient in todays day and age than use an entire ocean for no reason

    • @huskyvacs
      @huskyvacs 4 месяца назад +2

      It is not "for no reason". You clearly have no idea how clothes are cleaned and what is needed to clean them properly. I'd wager to guess though you buy new clothes every month and never wear clothes long enough to even wash them and feel them be slimy and stinky and crusty after being washed 4 times in your "eco friendly" POS washer with irreplaceable parts that are mysteriously no longer made even on a 2 year old washer.
      And if you ever go to a laundromat, they are using industrial washers that use the full amount of water required, there is no "water saving" washers there either. Know why? Because they don't work. Same as water saving toilets, you have to flush it 6 times to clear the waste, how is that saving water? Or low flow showerheads where you have to stand in there for an hour just to get clean? There is no such thing was being "Water efficient". You think all the water you use just disappears from existence? The only thing wasting water does is increase your water bill. Period. @@ExtremeGamer9951

      @@huskyvacs Ive happily worn well cleaned and maintained clothes for over 3 years, why would I waste good money every month on clothes. Buy good stuff and it lasts.
      I dont go to laundromats anyway, and my washer is eco friendly but works perfectly. Of course, it helps that its not a shitty combo unit, true.

    And if you're just checking the pump for any items in the lint trap and you want to wash a load right away you need to put 2 to 3 liters of water in the machine so that the detergent doesn't get flushed down the pump and is basically useless then. That's because there's mostly a little flap at the bottom of the tub that closes when water gets poured on it but if the water contains the detergent it won't do much because it's trapped in the pump then

    I simply don't understand how the detergent draw can get so incredibly disgusting with mold. My washing machine is 4 years old, I've never cleaned the inside of the draw compartment, yet it looks perfectly clean. What gives?

    • @Drakey_Fenix
      @Drakey_Fenix 4 месяца назад +6

      It's laundry detergent and softener (mostly softener) that gets deposited small amounts every time you use the washing machine. And over time it builds up a film that you can see, which is what that black stuff is. This also happens inside the drum in places where you can't see. This is why pretty much every washing machine engineer and servicemen advice against using softener, because it gunks up the inside and eventually will break stuff. I wish more people stopped using softener, it does basically nothing for your clothes, and just ruins your washing machine and poisons the environment.

    • @huskyvacs
      @huskyvacs 4 месяца назад +2

      If you are only using your washing machine on cold water you must use powder detergent, no liquids. Liquid detergent uses oil based soap which will not dissolve in cold water and will just sit on the surface.

      The most ignorant tiktok misinformation spread by a furry, how fitting. You sound like the Heaven's Gate cult or something. You always use fabric softener, it loosens the fabric and lets out the dirt. You know, so your clothes get clean, which is what it is for. If your shit is getting all nasty, then you are using way too much softener or you are using cheap-ass brands that are made with motor oil. And it is extremely hilarious that you think your washing machine is piped directly into a Hawaiian archipelago while failing to understand anything at all about city municipal waste services and how wastewater is treated. I bet your IQ is not high enough to know what starch is used for either huh. @@Drakey_Fenix

      Yup. I learned it after talking with washing machine collectors who never use liquid detergent in their machines anyway. But my hot water heater broke and I've had to wash clothes in cold water, and after a month my washer started stinking worse and worse, smelled like an open sewer. Found out it was the soap scum and the liquid detergent doesn't dissolve in cold water. Then when I went to get Tide powder detergent, I seen it said right on the box "designed for cold water laundry". Been using it for over a year - no more problems. It's a bit more expensive but it works. @@Deb.-.

    The sponge damages the plastic, makes small scratches, that makes dirt/soap etc. stick a lot easier. Never use a sponge like that on plastic.
