Very long coats are trending now, but the on-sale ones I’ve seen are quite short, ending around the knee, and I’m short. I think the longer the better, even to the ankle, for a really warm wool winter coat. I’m still wearing my 40-year old Dior, I have others, but I haven’t yet found one I love as much. It’s long and full (for the energetic, long walks of my commute) and buttons up to the neck, I commuted every winter during my whole career in it. It still looks brand new, if a bit out-of-style. It’s so hard to find that quality nowadays, 100% top-quality virgin wool with a high-quality, breathable (rayon) lining. I prefer a lined coat, but not if the lining is polyester, that’s just like wearing plastic wrap. A lining cuts the wind and makes it easier to put the coat on and off.
When I was young camel coats were made of undyed camel-hair wool, now it’s just a color.

I can relate because I was in the same situation. I really don't want to influence your decision. It really depends on your personality. This coat (teddy) is not for everyone. I can only tell you, every time I wear it, I feel amazing in it. I have been wearing it more than the Madame, btw. The price is high and I am absolutely aware of it but I have never seen a coat this warm, this lightweight at a lower price tag. 💕

I just got the black Teddy on eBay. Brand new, with tags for £816. With the US import taxes it will come to around 1k£. With the Teddy, there always seems to be a bargain somewhere. So exited for it to arrive, but I haven’t tried it on in a shop. Fingers crossed it works for me. I’d love a dedicated Teddy video 😍

If buttons come out of the buttonholes too easily, just close one end of the buttonholes a tiny bit with a few stitches in matching thread, or get a tailor to do it. (Buttons should be just able to squeeze through the buttonholes with a slight effort, but the holes tend to loosen with use). This type of adjustment is so easy that I do it myself. If you want a perfect thread match, take the coat and match the thread at a sewing shop, then take it to the tailor, they have a variety of colors, but not perhaps a perfect match, which an expensive coat deserves.
Many coat racks are in the entrances to restaurants. Don’t hang your nice coats there, they tend to “grow legs” and walk away, especially a designer brand. I often drape it over my chair back and seat, then sit and lean on it.

Hi, I’m one of those who finds the buttonholes on this coat unbearable! I purchased it a couple of weeks ago in size S (tried XS and another S before - all of them got unbuttoned when I walked!) The last one seemed okay, so I kept it, because the coat itself is very beautiful! But it got unbuttoned as well after a minute of walking outside! It’s just unacceptable for a coat which costs over 2000 euros! I never had this issue with any other coat.
I also noticed that most bloggers live in warmer climates and ALWAYS wear this coat unbuttoned as a fashion statement. I also like stylish things (that’s why I purchased it to begin with), but I also want them to be functional (especially for this kind of money!). I live in Sweden, so wearing it unbuttoned in winter is not an option, when temperatures get way below zero Celsius.
I really think it’s a design flow - having just one inner and one outer button located on the same level and with very soft and loose buttonholes for such a big and voluminous coat is a very weird designer decision. Other brands selling similar coats have much better button solutions (press buttons or hooks and at least two of them on different levels).
I also considered taking it to a tailor to tighten the buttonholes up, but honestly it feels kinda weird to pay so much money and have to fix the thing right away.
..such a shame.
Mine is still ok and this has not happened yet but if it does I am going to have it stitched by my local tailor.

Ich habe mir kürzlich den Teddy Coat in schwarz gekauft und bin total happy. Hätte nie gedacht, dass ich den Tagen wie bzw. dass er mir stehen könnte, aber es zeigt sich, man muss anprobieren!
Bzgl. des 101801 hatte ich vor Jahren den in camel Farben gekauft, jedoch hatte ich ihn etwas zu klein (34) für meinen Geschmack gekauft. Nun möchte ich ihn in der Farbe Beige kaufen und bin immer noch etwas unschlüssig bei der Größe. Ich schwanke zwischen 36 und 38 (bei einer Körpergrösse von 163cm). 😅
Oh wow, Teddy in schwarz ist auch so schön! Es ist nicht einfach mit den Gr. Ich habe den Madame in 38 und die Ärmeln sind für mein Geschmack ein Spur zu kurz. Ich habe ihn auch in 40 anprobiert und der war einfach viel zu groß (die Ärmeln waren aber besser; Ich bin 170 cm).

Darf ich kurz was zu Plug vs Trigger erwähnen? Ich glaube, du meinst eher "pull the trigger" statt "plug". Obwohl sicherlich heutzutage kein schöner Ausdruck, "pull the trigger" bedeutet im übertragenen Sinn, etwas ausführen. Also wenn man hier endlich den Kauf ausführt. "Pull the plug" heißt zwar auch etwas zu enden bringen aber im Sinn von Unterstützung beenden bzw. entziehen. Ursprünglich hat der Ausdruck tatsächlich mit dem Stecker ziehen zu tun. (Nebenbei bin ich freiberufliche Übersetzerin.)

Now in my 40's, I am so happy to be able to treat myself to these beautiful things. In the past, I couldn't though. But I worked and saved my whole life even when I was a school kid and later on at the university. I used to spend very little on fashion because I've always had a very expensive taste and could not afford things that I truly wanted.
