Practice African Music Rhythm with your Guitar | Follow along this Congolese Rumba exercise

- A good way to practice African music or African rhythm is to practice with someone, in a band, or even at home following along this kind of guitar training exercises.
In this video, I am showing you a Congolese Rumba guitar progression in the key of A. You can play it using fingerpicking or your guitar plectrum (the pick).
This tune is from my friend Jessy Mezzo, owner of the Music Studio Mezzo.

Finally, my teacher/ motivator has started a new style of coaching that gets students of different levels involved. This is really awesome teacher, especially when following along. It's true that it sometimes challenging to keep the same discipline when practicing alone at home no matter your level but when practicing along with a guitar coach like this even if you are not in person, is a great way to be disciplined because there's this feeling that makes you think you are in front of him and makes you push your self to improvement.

Level 3 & 4 you have to demonstrate the finger picking to us you can't just play without showing us how to pick😋

We use 4/4 or 4/2 time signature. Looks like we stay for long playing 1 and 5 then half that time playing 4. It's like 4 beats on 1 and 4 beats on 5 and 2 beats on 4. That is in 1-4-5 progression.
