  • Checking on the Limia I got from Greg Sage of Select Aquatics back in September. The group has sexed out to 5.4 and they all look healthy! Also, they produced their first batch of fry!

    Andrew, the plant Rotala Indica that you describe at the 00:58 mark is what I was trying to remember. Thanks!

      Glad I could help! Its an awesome plant. I propagated it by replanting the trimmed ends back into a dirted pot. You can see that in my Ameca tank. Thanks for watching man!

      Aquariums Anonymous Do it, they're awesome! Takes about as long as swordtails to mature and start breeding.

      @@RachelOLeary I remember a video of yours about the Ameca. My favorite fish are the goodeids. Most of my tanks & videos are dedicated to them. You should definitely get them again!

      I agree with you. they are not shy at all. very nice.
      they do not get as many fry at a time maybe because the fry is big.

    Am I hallucinating, or did I see these actually in a tank at aquarium Co-op? I would love to see more of the rare and endangered species in the commercial hobby!

    Those look like the wild caught liberty mollies i have...just bigger stripes...my males have 5 faint stripes on them and they swim around all day

    • @AndrewPiorkowski
      @AndrewPiorkowski  6 лет назад +1

      I have seen people refer to Limia in general as a type of wild molly but I don't necessarily like to get caught up in common names too much since they are so variable depending on the location. That being said, these guys have a lot in common physiologically with the Poecilia sphenops-complex! Thanks for watching!

    i love video's about goodeid and limia. I think my zoogeneticus tequila are getting to old to have fry, but i had a decent amount of fry. I got my hands on a small group of limia vittata , a female throw 4 fry after one day i got them, i think stress related.

    • @AndrewPiorkowski

      Thanks for watching! I love them too. Regarding your tequilas, that seems to be the case where they breed prolifically then they stop. Good that you were able to get fry to keep them going!

    These limia are generally more slimmer than those of L. nigrofasciata.

      Paul Pú , alias Zero True, these males will retain a similar look in terms of overall body shape as opposed to the Humpback Limia. People originally believed the Tigers to be a juvenile form but are now awaiting formal description as a distinct species.

    That's cute how you had to actually BREAK pots. Dang, boy, you can't take two steps anywhere in my yard without tripping over a broken pot! Maybe it's a phase of life. You seem like a young person. After 40 Years of gardening, there's hardly a pot in my life that doesn't have a crack or a repair in it somewhere! The question becomes do you want smooth or jagged, terracotta or glazed, dark or light, plain or textured, with a rim or with a partial hole? ;-)

    • @AndrewPiorkowski
      @AndrewPiorkowski  5 лет назад +1

      Lol, I actually sanded down the edges too so they wouldn't be too sharp.

    I bought a breeding pair for £60. I live in the UK and you can't find them anywhere.
