You did amazing showing how large of a water feature you can have in a smaller, newer build Socal backyard.

I live in so-cal, I was trying to start a waterfeature business in south oc. It was too hard getting a contractors license. So I'm trying my luck in utah!

Why didn’t you lay a full sheet of fabric over the liner? You just used fabric under some of the boulders.

We do that on a case by case basis based on the soil conditions. We always use the fabric as an underlayment, but the reason we don’t always lay a full sheet on top is that it is really difficult to keep taught on the bottom of the pond and has a tendency to bulge and pop up through the pebble (which is round). 😁

Nice pond.. but I don’t think it’s a pond for Koi Fish. Koi need ponds with smooth surfaces and contours. Over time, their scales or skin can become damaged.

Thank you. While accidents can happen, we've had no (zero) known fish loss attributable to rocks.

Those fish are way too big for that tiny pond. It would be nice if people would actually give consideration for the well being of the fish.

Overstocking can be a problem, no doubt! In this case, the original koi have multiplied rapidly and the growth of the babies has been astounding. The tough part is convincing the owners to part ways with their beloved fish.
