With the release of Fallout 4, let's look at some of the art styles within the game.
tbh the walking out of the vault and being blasted with light at the end of the video seems to be a reference to Platos cave. I love how dev really put effort in making these games
"If video games aren't art then the world of fiction would be doomed."
Amazing analysis. Shared it on the fallout Reddit, hoping you'll get more subs. You really do deserve it!
Keep up the great work! You're slowly becoming one of my favourite youtubers...
+Porkmiester That's a kind compliment, I appreciate the support.
Dude, your videos are amazing. I'm currently on a marathon, and my only criticism is the mic quality. Aside from that, well fucking done.
Amazing analysis bro....I enjoyed the change from these gushing fucking reviews.
+123doomdoom Haha, someone that speaks the truth.
+Ryan Hollinger Hey, I was just wondering if you could give us the name of the background track that yyou used for this and the macbeth-video? Thanks
It's a track by Kevin Macleod, unfortunately, the track name is on my other computer. I'll hunt it out and get back to you!
Ryan Hollinger Thanks man, much appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Perfect analysis for a near perfect game. Thank you for doing this vid for my new favorite game!
Huh, seems I got recommended a gem here, who knew Ryan hoyevered the Fallout series.
In terms or logic and writing the Commonwealth is one of the worst and unbelievable.
But I'll be damned if it doesn't look the part.
Very nice
Fantastic, really enjoyed this!
Art > Gameplay > Story.
Please do a vídeo analysis of Bully and L.A Noire
technology stays the same?.....*shows floating robot
The only bad bad fallout was the brotherhood of steel tactics, even then all fallout games are good in their own way
You're thinking of just "Brotherhood of Steel". Tactics is a seperate thing.
Awesome work, more please!!!!
i felt engrossed when wandering in Fallout 3, in Fallout 4, it just doesnt feel the same... its less deppressing, which sucks smh lol
0:14 not to Black Isle Studio/Obsidian Entertainment original fallout loyalists with the direction of Bethesda simplifying the franchise for a broader shooting audience.
Fallout remains my favorite franchise. An tho I agree with 75% of your take here Ryan as a GAMER... Fallout 4 was the worst of the lot, removing all meaningful choices removing most role playing aspects in rpg gaming, and allowed for few build types, not to mention horrible dialog choices. That all being true I am still glad i paid and played it and got my few hundred hours in for all the small smiles, the moments of sadness and discovery and a few times when just the right song or music hit just the right scene.... but it is my hope Fallout 5 is made much better by all the things fallout 4 did wrong.
I do agree that Fallout 4 did some things wrong, but I will argue that while it removed choices regarding morality (which is arguably a good thing) and whether or not you want a quest (which is obviously a bad thing altogether) it kept one important choice and emphasized it more than the 3rd game did. Bethesda tried to emulate and did it quite good, considering their usual low quality of their main storylines, it has done an excelent job by having you chose one of the four in-game factions for the end and have to deal with the fact that you need to destroy at least one other faction as a result.
If you join the Railroad you need to get rid of both the Institute AND Brotherhood of Steel.
If you join BOS you fight against Institute and Railroad.
As part of the Minutemen you can fuck up all three remaining factions.
And the same goes for the Institute.
You can even delve into how each faction works, what are their views and the end goal regarding the commonwealth.
So while it did remove quite a bit, it did improve in some regards as well, which is quite surprising really.
Same goes for the companions, for which I actually gave a fuck for once, compared to not only Fallout 3 but also Elder Scrolls series (Fuck off Lydia) and some of the side quests even if bugged, were as engaging as those in New Vegas (which I hate for some reason, but the quests were mostly good... Must be those western themes. I don't like these really, they bore the fuck out of me).
Is Fallout 4 the best and definite Fallout? Not really. But is it a bad game? Not at all. At least not as bad as most people claim.
Oh and settlements suck. And fuck you too Preston! And so does the conversation system. Mass Effect did it right. Fallout 4 didn't.
We will agree to disagree on a few points and I will agree on the companions being one of the better parts of fallout 4. I am a super fan of the series, so I loved Fallout 4 with all the flaws it had.... but it is (almost always) never a good thing to dumb down a game and fallout 4 was by far (to me) the most basic, rpg soulless, choice was weak, all factions were lame, and dialog and play options ridiculously limited..... It is my hope when a proper fallout 5 comes out in 8 or 10 years they can take some of the good from fallout 4, and get back to its unlimited play styles, options, and rpg soul and get away from worrying about the shooter aspects.... otherwise I hope they let other studios do fallout. Yea fallout 4 was THAT disappointing to me. However @Sidwinder I appreciate the passion and the difference of view :) as discussion and difference is how we learn :).
Michael I appreciate your honesty and that you can discuss it with civility, compared to quite a lot of other people :)
And I too hope F5 will be closer to a proper RPG even if I had a ton of fun with F4 and never could get into New Vegas.
And that they'll get rid of Emil Pagliarulo...
@ Sidewinder. Sorry you did not like FNV that was the better modern take, tho I confess to LOVING 3 more. I take it you played the original 1 and 2 games?
I actually didn't. Or rather, I tried but since I don't enjoy turn based games I couldn't get into them. It's unfortunate because Fallout world has captured me really well.
