Santa Teresa is located in western Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Puntarenas. The fishing village on the Pacific coast has developed into a popular vacation and emigration destination since the 1990s.
On the five-kilometer-long beaches of Playa Hermose, Playa Santa Teresa and Playa Carmen, surfers ride the waves at any time of the day and enjoy the Pura Vida lifestyle of Costa Rica. The beaches around Santa Theresa are natural and quiet, you can relax here with a book or meditate in peace.
The village is relatively tranquil and consists of just one street with many small shops, great cafes, restaurants and bars. For a longer stay, a trip to the neighboring hippie village of Montezuma or to the Cabo Blanco National Park, which is home to monkeys, sloths and toucans, is also worthwhile. Santa Theresa's main street is a really bad dirt road. There is only one main street that runs parallel to the beach. The road consists of a track - riddled with potholes. Driving is no fun here, so most rent quads (ATVs), motorbikes or bicycles to get from A to B with their surfboards.
