This is so much more clean, simple and serviceable than a retrofit steering rack. Also you don't lose your turning radius like you do with a rack. I Had a retrofit power rack and I'm switching back to this original style. I guess the rack in theory was more "precise" though I have my doubts but for a daily driver this system just works well. Another great video.
Grate Video!! The steering column should not be cut at a angle the lower steering column shaft bushing will not set straight. Thats not the fire wall seal. Thats the carpet trim ring for the steering column.
Excellent video!! Just discovered your channel and have been binge watching all your content. I wanted to ask if Borgeson make a 16:1 ratio manual steering box?? Or if the power steering box can somehow be modified to use in a manual steering setup? Keep up the great work mate!! Following from Australia.
Borgeson has a different kit for that. Essentially it has a drag link that needs to be changed. I would just reach out to them directly to see exactly what kit would work for your car.
Nice video. One question. Does the kit come with a new steering column shaft. How do you know where to cut the steering column to get the correct length.
Yes, it comes with a nee shaft. We mark ours before we remove the originals. However we cut ours differently because we use a specific angled bushing in the end that we didn't show. Typically the shafts are cut straight if you want keep the borgeson stuff. I typically advise to mark the bottom of the column 1/4" out past the firewall and you should be good. However, every car is a little different. CJ pony parts has a good video in this specific thing as well that I would encourage people to watch.
Thanks this saved my life from struggling for hours

Not 100% sure, but it's quite possible.

Oh awesome! I'm not 100% sure but I would probably browse around on their website.
so, what would happen if you have a "power steering" suspension, but want to upgrade to the borgeson power steering?
Borgeson has a different kit for that. Essentially it has a drag link that needs to be changed. I would just reach out to them directly to see exactly what kit would work for your car.
would this system work on a 66 galaxie with a 289?

How much did you cutt off the steering column?
Do you recommend this upgrade vs the electric power steering upgrade?
I have not yet installed an EPAS system so I would not fair to compare.
