CSRP Rear Disc Brake Conversion - 1966 Ford Mustang
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.2 месяца назад
Today at Alf's Mustang Garage, we install a CSRP rear disc brake conversion onto a 1966 Mustang. This particular Mustang already has a disc brake kit installed onto it but we want to put a better one on. This is definitely the best one and in our opinion, the best all inclusive kit you can get for your Mustang that is used as a driver / weekend cruiser and not a high horsepower car. Want to hel...

You're very welcome!
Happy new year. Looking forward to more great and informative videos. You have been a great source of information. Thanks
Happy New Year! Thank you very much!
Words can't express the profound respect I have for you guys at Alf's. Your instructional videos are awesome and, indeed very helpful. I look forward to seeing your work in 2025. Thanks for what you do. Dave
Dave, thank you very much! It's seeing comments like this that help motivate us!
6 point socket right ?
Alex - Thanks for putting our truck in the background! I know you're working on that planetary gear / rear end issue. See ya soon!
Thanks Greg! Ya we should have her back together this week. Happy new year!
Proud of you my friend!!
Thank you!
It’s awesome you’ve been so busy! Happy New Year. I’m currently enjoying my 65 that your vids help me build. Thanks for taking the time to put out such quality content.
Oh awesome thank you very much! Glad to hear they have been helpful. Happy new year!
I think I’ve watched this 20 times today! Thanks for being part of Enzo’s history! ❤
That's awesome! It's a privilege to be a part of it. Thank you!
I brought a 66 mustang little over a month ago. Came across your site and have been watching and saving all your videos on the 66. The guy had owned it for 45 yrs and took real good care of it. No body work is needed but I'm going to go through the engine with a new kit. So I will be watching for more videos on the 66.
Very cool. It's getting harder to find a good solid clean car nowadays. Good luck with her!
Happy New Year! Open shop in Cleveland Ohio. Not a lot of classic mechanics up here. Keep up the good work.
Happy New Year! Ya its getting harder and harder to find people to work on these cars.
Great info ty!
You're very welcome
HNY👍👍
Happy New Year!
I enjoy your content, cheers for a good 2025
Thank you very much, happy new year!
Congrats Brotha on another great year!! I saw quite a few awesome looking projects in that preview, can't wait!!
Thank you sir! We are excited! Happy new year!
Whats the number to your shop so I can call and get some help amd advice on some parts for my 1967 mustang
You guys are awesome! Happy new year!
Happy New Year!!!!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Hello from Australia. You just saved me from not sealing the flex plate bolts and I may not have noticed the torque converter drain holes too. Phew! Thanks Alf! :)
You're very welcome! Glad to hear we helped out!
Exactly what I needed to see thank you
You're very welcome!
Great video! What shade of blue is on that 289?
Eastwood's old Ford blue.
My brake lights engage with a slight tap on the brakes, but go away on a firmer press. Turn signals and running lights are fine. Brake switch?
Just had to be patient and watch the whole thing. You answered my questions! Thank you!!!
You're very welcome. Glad you figured it out.
@@AlfsMustangGaragehmmm. So my hazards and turn signals work, but only the driver side brake light works intermittently. When I tested the switch, it mimicked the behavior and flickered when I pressed the brakes. I’m getting signal to the driver side when checking the turn signal switch, but none on the passenger side (orange and green wire I believe). Should I start with the switch?
So conpression on #1 cylinder, when its near its highest compression, turn over/rotate the cam to the mark? May i turn over either way as long as it is at the mark;clockwise or counter clockwise?
Thanks, it helped me learn about spring
You're very welcome!
I really liked the demonstration of how the choke works but the way you installed those guages is crazy LOL!🙆♂️😁🙏
A tuning video would be great.
What type and brand is that brake master cylinder?
Do the bearings come with the crankshaft when you order it?
Not typically
Sounds ĝreat 😊
Thank you!
What happens if i moved the adjuster nut(video minute 1.45)? Any recommendations on how to re-adjust it back to how it was?
Failed master cylinder?
It moves the shuttle, and the shuttle limits volumetric flow, which creates a lower pressure circuit in the tripped circuit
Im in need of a throtal return spring for a 1967 mustang. Ot has an inline 6 200 let me know if anyone can help
Will the fan spacer also fit a 64 mustang same engine 289 ??
Neat!
And for the idiots out there disconnect your negative battery terminals first
Is this swap the same procedure for the 1967 mustang inline 6 ?
The process is the same. A lot of the specific parts will be different.
Great video, man! 😎
Thank you!
Have ordered 2 and they are too big.l to thread in. Any ideas on a size to look for? Help is greatly appreciated!
Your idle is WAY too high. Needs to be about 750/725
Not on a cold start when the choke is on.
@bradstaton1934 ... the choke is working correctly, therefore the hi idle.
@@AlfsMustangGarage Ah, yes. Good catch!
Thats because it's cold and the choke is engaged! Once it warms up and the choke opens it will slow down and be perfect! Trust me!😉👍
Does this csrp booster and master cylinder work on drum brakes? Why am i"m I having such a hard time finding it online. I'm wanting to install a new booster and master cyl for my 66 mustang automatic and keep my drum brakes, having a hard time deciding on what would be the best. Been watching all your videos on the 66 rebuild can't tell how much they have help me.
Silver keeper shown in the video: I think I know why the SK was used. The inner shaft is attached to the kickdown lever. When the kickdown lever detaches from the inner shaft it must be pressed into place for the kickdown function to work. This is what I encountered, reattaching the kickdown lever is simply a pressure fit on to the inner shaft, the question is how far down into the inner shaft? If you do not press the kickdown lever deep enough you will have too much inner shaft left when you try to install the safety switch. To compensate for this the keeper is used. In short, when reattaching the kickdown lever to the inner shaft distance is important. Just my guess, I could be wrong for sure.
I pulled the trans oil pan and preformed everything in this video. Is it true the C4 trans holds between 7-8 quarts? Note that my case is different because I just replaced engine.
I usually get 9 quarts total capacity when I have one of these rebuilt.
@@AlfsMustangGarage Thanks
Me and my daughter bought a 1967 mustang with an inline 6 200 and Om looking for a repair manual for it Do you have any suggestions for a book that we may use let me know have a blessed day
What carb is this?
Looks like a Holley 4150
This is applicable to the 260 in my 1963 Falcon. When I bought the car twelve years ago, I was surprised to find that that its points had been replaced by a Pertronix electronic ignition setup. I may convert the car back to its original points. Thanks for posting.
You're very welcome
So clean!
Thank you!
How much it will cost to do the complete swap? Thanks
the link takes me to to their homepage. Whats the part number on that kit
That was by design. Every kit will be different based on your car and what you want. I would recommend calling csrp to find out what is best for your situation.
@@AlfsMustangGarage thank you
👍👍 Subscriber here and I watch many, many of your videos. I have the same wiring diagram for a 63 Falcon Futura Sport Sprint. I have this exact problem, Rt. Brake light works, Lt. brake light inop. I have put a jumper wire on the wires connecting to the brake light switch on the master cylinder, Rt. Brake light illuminates, still no brake light power to the left light. Interestingly enough tail lights, and blinkers work on both Lt. & Rt. Tail lights. 👍👍, I believe this instructional video will help.
This is super helpful! I have no play in my clutch pedal, do I adjust it like you did here from the bottom or is there another adjustment nut? ‘66 Mustang. Thanks
