Only in kingdom hearts will a character come outta nowhere claiming they're trying to save you by beating the complete shit out of you
And this character originated in a video game within a video game in the Toy Story world
Gotta find out if they're worthy of being saved first
I remember this awkward moment playing Dissidia 012; Onion Knight's story mode. I reach the part where Terra's powers fly out of control, and OK is like, "Don't worry, Terra, I'll save you!" Cue the gameplay fight against Chainspell Spamming Esper Terra. But I had long since overleveled OK, and I effortlessly floor Terra within a few seconds. Leading to following inappropriate and out-of-context victory quote from the Onion Knight that stayed with me:
"See? It was REAL easy, too."
"I'm gonna go save Sora."
"How?"
"By beating the crap outta him."
"Makes perfect sense."

@@WinterFox1000 Yeah but none of it is interesting to be honest. In KH3, I couldnt give a damn about Organization 13. Theyre the same character 13 times over. Ansem sucks, all 93 versions of Ansem suck, Xehanort sucks, Xemnas sucks, Diz sucks, Riku Sucks, Kairi sucks, the three boring characters from the psp game suck, Roxas sucks. The only enjoyable characters are Sora, Goofy and Donald. That's why the first game worked well. It had a relatively simple story with a cool concept and cool worlds. KH3 was a total waste of time. It basically was go quest meaninglessly only to go and beat up every bad guy in the end with no problems at all.

I love how all of Sora’s attacks and abilities are fantasy based like magic, the Keyblade and items like potions while Yozora’s moveset is based around technology like his laser sword, laser cages and disco balls.

I love how that Sora has so many abilities and forms now that if you switched to Yozora's perspective as the protagonist, Sora as the final boss is 100% believable.

Thorson Wayne Basically, the lead developer of this series, Tetsuya Nomura, wanted to make a new Final Fantasy game set in the same universe as Final Fantasy XIII, and he made a character named Noctis for that game; however, he was replaced as lead developer for the game and the new developer team butchered his original design (if you watch the first FFXV trailers vs the actual gameplay you'll see the difference.)
Yozora is the new Noctis because Nomura now has complete control of the Kingdom Hearts series and can finally create the character he wanted.

@Leonardo PreciousRb KH is not by any means realistic, but Joel's voice fits Sora's personality like a glove and he can do some serious moments insanely well. I don't think any character in the franchise needs a recasting but if they do, it better be as good as the OG ones

If this turns into a Judgement/Kingdom Hearts crossover, I am walking out of the door.
Quite honestly, that ENTIRE interaction between Sora and Yozora is just fantastic, the scenery of the Final World being one big starry night sky and the music is amazing too.
This fight is from a «kids game», and its not only way harder than most Fromsoft bosses, but also way fairer. This boss design is what Elden Ring should have been : Very hard while being completely fair. I love Fromsoft to death, but it’s kinda embarrassing that a “baby game made for cringe disney fans” managed to outcompete in terms of game difficulty and game design at the same time.
However, that wouldn’t be too fair since both ER and KH3 main games had massive issues. I have full faith in FS to create well designed mega challenges in the upcoming ER DLC. I wasn’t trying to mock KH, but rather Fromsoft. This game isn’t technically for children, but it’s way more family friendly, which makes this game look like it has mid and childish fights (which do exist in the main game tbh). But no, the main KH team absolutely blew it out of the park with the Limit cut and Secret cut (The first half of the dlc was mid though)
And also sorry for necroposting. Yozora is just so damn good that I wanted to comment. The fight is so good that I’m considering replaying this game (which I haven’t done in 3 years) just to experience this 11/10 boss fight again. Well fucking done Megachads of a team. What a redemption arc from the problematic main game.
You just made me realize that the reason why this boss battle takes place under a dark night sky is because Yozora's name means night sky in Japanese!

The "trials" he underwent sound a LOT like Twewy to me.
I think it's more likely that Yozora never met Sora, but had only heard of him. Or, it's a case of mistaken identity. Yozora on the other hand, looks like Noctis but something changed his appearance. Sora though, doesn't know any of this because he's only seen Yozora as apart of Verum Rex.

Just watching this at the end came back with qoutes from the first kingdom hearts intro.... erm..... it's weird how far its come. I do feel alienated some sort of what it has gone too but I hope its original like the first. That's why I like the first and secound, I recognise. Okay, so Yozora isn’t from this world, and that’s not his real form.
There are huge hints that Sora and Yozora are connected in essence, in terms of Yozora saying the famous “weird thoughts, is any of this for real or not” line.
Think about when Sora travels across worlds.
Little Mermaid, Nightmare Before Christmas, Tron, etc. He changes forms to fit in with the world. What if that’s why Yozora (Noctis) has a Kingdom hearts outfit, as opposed to when he’s in the car looking hella Final Fantasy. He came to Kingdom Hearts World (lol) and changed forms to save Sora, like Sora does for different worlds, and that’s why there’s so many Yozora/Sora parallels.
Also there’s the whole bit about them being named Sora (sky) and Yozora (night sky), like they’re two sides of the same coin. Bruh.

A thing I kinda like in the dialogue, before it devolves into this fight, is when Yozora calls out to Sora in the distance, then Sora yells back, then Yozora calls back that he sees him as they make their way towards one another, it has a neat realistic flavor to it......but then it goes into anime vagueness and addressing with Yozora acting like a “mysterious figure” I could believe Nomura or whomever else behind this fight intentionally was cheeky though since the other secret bosses like blue lightning Xemnas, Lingering Will, mysterious Young Xehanort, and black and white Vanitas were choreographed as such too.
But I still like the idea of it.
Their are 2 ending to this fight. You die and Sora is frozen and game ends, you win and Yozora disappears and game ends. 2 cutscenes

For once, Sora is just as confused as we are. The voice actors did a good job with this, Sora's growing incredulity against Yozora's tired deadpan. It works better than it has any right to.

Here's my guess:
Sora was not supposed to win this fight. Him being crystallized is canon. Then we play as Yozora in the next game, set during his "trials" before his encounter with Sora.
I can kinda buy into that, kinda like playing as Roxas in kh2 for the prologue and then becoming Sora again. Maybe it'll even branch out to 2 seperate story lines like chain of memories. That would be hype
The game files reveal that losing to Yozora triggers the video called “bad ending” and that winning triggers the one named “true ending” to play. But knowing Nomura, he probably will come up with something to make them both canon, like more time reseting shenanigans or something like that lol

I was wondering why everyone was calling winning this fight “the true ending.” What if it’s not? I mean, canonically Sora also lost the fight against Leon and Cloud in KH1 so he might have lost this one too

Difference being by the time Sora faces Yozora, he is pretty well seasoned and experienced.
By the time Sora faces Leon and Cloud in KH1, the only prior experience he had was scratching his ass and picking his nose on Destiny Island.

My crazy experience about this fight bruh. So when I defeated Yozora, the sound it made when a boss is defeated and I was like “finally”. Mind you, It took me like 20-25 attempts. and then this bastard used the Kuppo Coin to revive himself. I honestly forgot that he took it from me and then I died.I was so mad.

@@zemom.a.8171 No. He's INSPIRED by Noctis. Yozora is an original character made for Kingdom Hearts. Nomura said he has nothing to do with Versus XIII if I remember correctly. Yozora is not from Final Fantasy but has ideas taken from Versus XIII. KH3 has (unfortunately) no FF bosses.
But you can say Yozora is the CLOSEST thing to one.

Even after this boss fight, and the other super boss fights, I'm definitely going to miss not having to fight Sephiroth as a being among those boss fights, for a numbered title. Would have been a great way to see him off, with Final Fantasy characters potentially no longer being in the KH universe.

This is by far the hardest boss in Kingdom Hearts 3 in my opinion. I was finally able to beat him last night, and I was so happy to do so.

Your comment reminds me of a joke that was used in the comment section of the Dark Souls Honest Trailer; it went something like this: Dark Souls is a kind of game that is really more like one of those perfect girlfriends you gain during a full moon. Only, every 5 seconds, she punches you in the face. And you enjoy the abuse she puts you through because you keep coming back to her.
Kingdom Hearts is kind of like that dumb cheerleader you started dating in high school, the ex-de-facto PERFECT GIRLFRIEND, and years later, you learn that she's become a flashy politician, completely pretentious and flaunting her perfect curves before all the boys in the yard, and basically acting like a complete attention whore. What goes completely ignored is the fact that she's every bit as attractive as a trophy girl can be, but she's completely fucking incoherent and keeps making all her blatant mistakes look intentional. And the whole thing is putting you through a great deal of emotional and physical abuse, because Christ, you should've tied the fucking knot already, and she consistently gives you every reason NOT to. And yet, after all this time, you are STILL sustaining this "on/off" relationship with her, because deep down, you know that she only has eyes for you, and the feeling is mutual.

I think the real Yozora has the ability to connect ones heart and send it to data. His eye color represent a heart and soul and the other allows him to access data like he was given cybernetic enhancements. So when he goes to sleep he is able to enter a data like dream just like humans are able to go to the final world whenever they sleep and the yozora that sora fought was a data program sent to “save” and the only way to save him was to put him at halt sent by who ever luxord true name is.
Dylan sprouse really is perfect. I couldn’t have imagined a different voice for him. It’s perfect. The master being ray chase, I guess the couldn’t have him be noctis 2.0 as yozora lol but I didn’t expect that anyway

When Yozora swings his sword down at 3:39, it’s the exact same sound used when Noctis switches to the Engine Blade, but pitched higher! You can compare it to when Noctis summons the Engine Blade in all the Versus trailers that have the invasion of Insomnia! NOMURA!!!! 👀
The sound effects on this guy's tech has just *pure* absolute HNNNNGHhh..!!

Maybe soras only way of “existing” again is to be inside Yazora somehow. I think regardless of who wins the fight, the outcome is the same because even when Yazora loses that famous line he “thinks out loud” is almost interrupted by sora at the start, then Yazora voice takes over. Idk

I feel like I want to get the DLC just for this fight, it was released not too long ago and yet the second it came out it became the toughest Kingdom Hearts fight without being cheap like the Unknown fight from BBS or exploitable like that fight.

I swear square enix is literally reaching huge heights this whole fight plus the final fight with xehonort in kh3 are one of the best visually impressive and gripping gameplay I've seen in my life, not to mention the amazing ffvii remake with it's amazing boss fights like wow I'm at awe how ff and kh are evolving so great can't wait for kh4 hopefully it will be better paced and a little bit more kh than just Disney this time, kh2 had the best balance of Disney and kh.

Yozora is a nobody of Noctis/Riku/Sora since they all have died and share the same dreams.
Sora is now the "antagonist" in Yozora's world because Sora can time travel (much like Ansem did in KH1 Destiny Islands)
ever since Sora defied destiny now Sora and Riku have accessed an entirely different realm to meet Yozora (who must be Noctis who has died and now somehow has ties with Sora/Riku).

The power of waking true purpose is to wake from the fictional world.
That's why "sleep" & "dreams" are such a strong theme in KH -- Yozora obviously a variation if not Noctics from FF13Versus.

As far as I know the Canon one is where sora wins. I mean the secret ending shows him waking up in that town.
Mijdax true i understand that but i assumed that’s because he hasn’t ran into yozora yet. Plus gotta think about the words yozora said. Even tho he attacks us, he wants to “save us” somehow. Plus the battle is set up for majority of people to experience the bad ending anyway at least on their first try. Idk 🤷🏿♂️ pretty excited to see what they do with this tho

- Yozora used an encephalon-dive type device to test Sora in the digital world.
- Sora passed so he waits for him.
- Riku is having a dream in the secret ending where Yozora watches him, and where Sora is too.
- Sora is safe and easily locatable. He is in the Verum Rex world (I know people would like to say vs13 but no, we have no proof).
- Riku being in a dream with Sora proves he can find him by using the power of waking too. Riku hasn't abused it yet.
- If you paid attention to how kairi was saved, Yozora would have crystallised Sora's heart into pieces to prevent it from being taken at the cost of his body. In this case, Yozora is literally a parallel anti-sora, "saving" people by entrapping them in him.

Yozora has 4000 HP, the most I've ever seen in a boss from any Kingdom Hearts game.
How can I tell? Well, take a look at how many health gauges he has. 19 green bars below the main gauge plus one more when all of the green bars become black. Each gauge is 200 HP.
This is absurd, given the fights in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix put the HP cap at 3400 (17 health gauges), which is exactly how much HP Lingering Will has. The devs at Square Enix really weren't joking about raising the difficulty.
