Charming! These days I've been replaying this game. It's one of my best along with SH2. When I was 20 I wanted look like Henry: bought a shirt his style, and turned the jeans in the bottom the same way (Walter wore the same way, I presume). Some considered Henry to wander like a void ghost with no personality, well I wouldn't agree on that, he was shy. The other characters as well as the plot were remarkable. Eileen was a neighbour many wants to have.
Nice video about one of the most underrated games in the franchise... It's a case of suffering from success. Previous SH games set the bar so high that expectations were almost unreal. Little we knew it was the last "real" SH game we would have😢 (at least so far)
The rotating thing in the middle of the final boss room is an armillary sphere. Basically an ancient celestial sundial used to track constellations and calendrical computations/calculations. In some cultures the outer rings represent the heavens and such. Which is probably where the movie event horizon got it from, so yeah it could just be a coincidence but I think both EH and SH4 got the general idea from a real astrological device.
you missed 2 secrets. 1) When you get the escape ending look behind Henry and the billboard will change from that creepy phone number and 2) this is more of a speedrun glitch but in building world if you leave eileen alone in a corner after getting off the elevator go down the ladder on the opposite side and on the other side of the fence, she will just magically run behind you and "bazinga" go to the exit of the world. you've just skipped a whole level!
MAN! I wish I liked this game more than I do. I greatly respect it. I love the story, characters, lore, worldbuilding, imagery, the frankly insane twists on the series' gameplay. It's just that every time I try to play it, it just feels like a slog in the last few hours. Escorting Eileen, and those damn ghosts! I understand what they are, why they do what they do, how they work, and all that, and again, I love and respect it all in concept, but they get old when I just want to explore and take in that atmosphere that the series is famous for. I've finished the first three games (and the next two for that matter) many, many times, but I have yet to finish this one. And, yes, I am ashamed of that fact. Great video! I do love hearing other people talk about this game.
SH4 had great ideas and an interesting story, it's the gameplay that took a step backwards. Unfortunately, they had no choice but to try new gameplay mechanics and ideas, otherwise people would have criticized it as being too much like SH2 and SH3. The game was stuck between a rock and a hard place, it was going to be criticized either way. Personally, I think I would have preferred if SH4 played more like the first 3 games, just to keep it consistent. I think it would have aged better.
I think time was the bigger issue. SH3 & 4 were in development at the same time, but a majority of it was focused on 3 to the point that when SH3 was finished and released, the team has less time to work on 4. Which is why a ton of stuff like endings and music/sound effects were either cut or unfinished.

Hey, yeah I wanted to take a break for a bit. I decided to do Silent Hill 4, which required four playthroughs to get as much recorded footage as I could. Now I can make a few SH 4 videos. The next one will be showcasing all the hauntings in room 302.. might make you a bit uncomfortable again.. but it should be uploaded next week.
You should do a break down of the "did walt purpose set hank off on gus as a master plan" theory... I do think that there is a part of walt wanted to get back at gus for his treatment and wanting to throw some mud innhis face... but ultimately it comes down to his ego. I have read some theories that he did this to put pressure on gus to eventually get ride of him
It is Akira Yamaoka. I think it's only heard once in a scene in the hospital when Henry realizes Eileen can't follow him back through the portal. It's my favourite piece in Silent Hill 4, it's called Abandon Chaos.
Silent Hill 4 is one of the games i never finished, but a game i would like to finish. But that Eileen is your escort partner and the fact that the ending depends on her, i easily stopped playing after i found her in the Hospital.
At 2:50 You will get the information in SH4 that the son of Frank Sunderland and his fiance Mary Shepherd-Sunderland went missing, because... James Sunderland also killed himself. The true ending of Silent Hill 2 is : "In Water Ending."
Whats funny is the people who would complain -- game journalists -- would never complete the game 3 or 4 times to even discover the outfits. So they have no right to complain!
dude i never fell in love with fiction character (Really no joke) but after i played this SH4 and i saw Eileen Galvin (especially what she wears during rescuing her) I never thought i would Love this Eileen, literally I love her

The room should be remaked. So much potential. It could be a much better game if konami invested a bigger budget and time for its production.
