- The year 2038: highly intelligent androids established a state of supremacy in which humanity serves as their respective slaves. To stunt the deep-rooted violence in humans, androids have taken precautions by implanting "social" brain chips into surviving and newborn humans - which not only allow humans to communicate wirelessly in order to best serve their masters, but also places them into a non-threatening and submissive trance-like state.
But suddenly the chips start to malfunction, more and more humans start to wake up...
Kara Archer: an empathic young woman who grew up in a human detention camp and is purchased by a family of two after the suspicious loss of their previous service-human.
Markus Manfred: Markus and his father used to serve an android philantropist. When his father was outsourced due to his old age, Markus put up a desperate fight and was left for dead in a mass grave. He finds new purpose as the unlikely leader of a human rebellion.
Connor Stern: is the privileged son of CyberLife CEO Amanda, the previous owner and confidante of android ursuper and leader EK1000. He operates undercover to eliminate the malfunction in „deviants“ and save the company’s public image.

This reverse AU is a multichapter mod, opposed to a full playthrough. The protagonists are humans navigating in a world ruled by androids. Some characters are swapped and switched around to fit this AU, there’s also canon divergence for Alice’s identity, Connor’s backup system and Markus’ early POV due to the lack of Carl (Carl exists, but died pre-story since his model could not be modded). See the description box for more extensive info.
My private life is pretty chaotic right now so it’ll be some time before I can edit and upload the remaining three parts. I’ll try to release a part at least once per week.

I love this au. Without conext to whats going on, someone could easily theorize that andriod took over and put something into humans (A chip similar to the ones in clones) to make them act more like "machines"
That or in order to survive, human's became more compliant

Briefly, "The Matrix" is about the world being ruled by machines. And we're following a bunch of human-rebelions that are desperately trying to escape this slavery. It kinda reminded me of your "REVERSE AU", that's why I mentioned this movie :)

This is so cool! It's interesting seeing Detroit reversed. I admit, during Connor's investigation scene at Carlos Ortiz's house, it was hard for my brain to keep up with everything (then again, I'd been working/running around all day and it was right before I went to bed lol).
Seeing Shaolin/Carlos Ortiz's android as a human made his lines "I didn't know what to do. For the first time, there was no one there to tell me" hit even harder for me this time around.
[Context: My parents were abusive, they joined a religious fundamentalist cult when I was 6 and became even more abusive. I got married to a man in the cult when I was 19, he was also abusive but not as much as my parents.]
When I left all of that behind (my family, my husband, the cult), I felt like I had way more freedom than I knew what to do with. I kept waiting for someone to tell me what to do, but instead I was told that it was my choice to decide what to do in my own time. I had never been told that before.
I'm STILL adjusting, and it's been almost 4 years since I left.

That's such a cool AU! I think you did a great job with replacing the models and creating this alternate world, especially with the mentioned brained chips which explain the wireless connection between humans. (And also skipping a few chapters and scenes)
I like that you didn't include subtitles or flowcharts, but I think the cuts between the chapters were a little too sudden - maybe you could do a fade-out instead?
I wonder, was Alice always an android in this reverse AU or did you consider not changing her at all? I certainly like to see the bonding scenes with Alice's android body (and absolutely love the detail of her name being her canon model number), but it _is_ quite curious that she is one of the very few characters that technically remained the same ^^
Excited to see more deleted dialogue in action, btw. Honestly, I partly hoped you would stay in the motel because I wanted to hear all that cut motel dialogue! And I say that as someone who likes the squat the most XD

Seeing Markus so late was very unusual! I would've loved to see the crowdy "Shades of Color" with all the androids, but I understand why you had to cut these scenes out. Anyway, "From the Dead" was awesome mod work!

I decided Alice was going to be an android in her true form from the get go. That’s actually the idea which inspired me to play in reverse at all, a human caring for an android child. Then I came up with Markus’ and Connor’s arcs later on. Alice‘s species doesn’t matter to me either way. But for the most part I think the player initially bonds with Alice because she looks human. I‘m basically being mean by representing her unfiltered android model and challenge my viewer to question if that makes them care less.
And unfortunately the deleted motel dialogue has no audio recording. It only exits in the script files. Besides, the motel owner wouldn’t have offered Kara a room since she can’t pass as an android.
I changed Alice‘s pictures by painting them over and for the previous service human I just placed a stock photo onto the texture file.
Spacing the black screen between chapters out a bit is no problem. Also the 28 stab wounds meme never gets old, I‘m sorry. xD

They only have skin as a feature to appeal to their customer, in sense it's just mascot costume if anything there is not anything as naked in Android unless they project human skin
