I just purchased the book on Audible. I'm so glad to have been led to your channel.
I've been following the damage caused by Helene and so many survivors praise God for their survival as a reflex. One woman lost her young son and elderly parents when their roof collapsed in the flood but still praised God through her tears.
That's so incredibly sad.
I remember thinking Mother Theresa was so wonderful when I was growing up in the Roman Catholic Church. The first time I learned otherwise was Christopher Hitchens, of course. When I read his accusations, I was horrified but couldn’t deny it. She was a monster in sheep’s clothing.
I had a few heroes who fell to the wayside of reason.
Oh absolutely. She actively contributed to the suffering of extremely vulnerable people. It was incredibly disappointing to learn about how she kept people in poverty and misery, doing essentially nothing to actually help them.

I think the evidence shows that religiosity goes up and down and up and down and up and down in different cultures at different times. The date on number of people who admit to atheism cannot be trusted because the punishments are often severe and in many eras involve being tortured to death. That doesn’t happen at the moment in our culture so the number of people willing to acknowledge atheism is high.

I have for quite some time throughout my adult years questioned my belief in God. I've just always felt that God to some degree or another was very unfair on so many levels. My family, most of Whom are devout in their faith. They always tend to make apologies for God. I long to believe without wavering in my faith thst God exists. I also am very drawn to your RUclips channel. Your intelligence and well thought out commentary is subtlety addictive. You are definitely challenge your viewers thinking. I am longing for Your personal in depth unapologetic perspective on heaven and your personal beliefs on the after life. You are definitely a TED talk waiting to happen. A book can have good content even if the author is a mixed bag. How much of literature are we going to miss out on if every potentially "problematic" author is ignored? You can still hold JK Rowling accountable for her words. Let's multi-task no matter how hard it is.

Whatever it is they're looking for as a cause or origin, I think science will find it somewhere along the line. It found where people and whatnot came from and has a theory on the origin of the universe. Maybe these mystified things won't be explained in our life times but people are looking so it's a start.

@@smidlee7747 more baseless claims, my deluded little friend. Sight can easily be explained as incremental steps in the bush of evolution. All the various steps to something like a human eye can be demonstrated in organisms that still use those more 'primitive' form of eye... primitive only in contrast to say a mammalian eye, but those eyes were sufficient for those organisms in their environmental niche so did not need to evolve past the point. You don't seem to be very well educated, I am afraid.

Also sight requires more than eyes.
You need eyes, optical nerve , digital code and visual cortex all required at the exactly same time or you will see as well as a rock.
Also sight is part of our conscious perception. No one has a clue how to turn electrical impulses into conscious perception. Yet atheist must believe blind nature did it without trying and covered up it's tracks so the smartest people on the planet can't figure how blind nature did it.
Atheism is complete nonsense and denies reality.

Good video. You have some valid points but we can’t think our way through spiritual awakening which is the evidence of God we seek. It’s an internal experience that happens as a side effect of following the truth that sets free. There is a path. Traditional Christianity is a misunderstanding. The story of Jesus is a parable about the human soul which is born pure of a virgin miraculous buried and rejected yet lives forever.

You can't demonstrate any of those claims... 1 - there is no definition of 'spiritual' since everyone who uses the word has a different meaning behind it, making the word meaningless. 2 - there is no good and convincing evidence that any of the 10,000+ gods mankind has worshipped exist in reality. 3 - there is absolutely no good and convincing evidence that a soul exists. 4 - human virgins cannot give birth and 5 - humans also do not resurrect.

At least Cosmic Skeptic admitted he didn't fully understand Williams Craig's argument until he went to collage and while he still don't accept it admits it's much stronger than most atheist realize. He realize he was dealing with the straw man of Craig's argument when he was a teen.
For me I find no reason to believe reason came from that which has no reason. Atheism, naturalism is nonsense.
Note as you read @ 10:20 If something can exist without a cause (The uncaused cause) it might as well be the universe.
This is admitting atheist have no problem with something without a cause but they have a problem with an higher authority greater than man. Rebellious men don't WANT there to a God who hold all men accountable so hoping the universe itself is the ultimate source of existence.
It's not an intellectual problem but a heart issue as atheist do not like that which is eternal to be personal, intelligence , powerful and the ultimate judge.
Please do not accuse someone of strawmaning an argument, then using one yourself. Your whole comment is full of assumptions. First of all, atheism does not necessarily lead to an infinite regress. There are atheists who believe a creator/s of some sort could be a possibility, but until we have more information, atheists aren't going to hold a belief in it. But there is still so much to explore and learn about our universe and about life. No one knows what happened during the Planck era, nor what happened before that. It is possible that infinite regress or creator is not a true dichotomy. There could be so much more going on that we aren't even close to discovering. It's too soon to choose a belief so a lot of atheists are simply saying "we don't know." I definitely don't see this as "nonsense."

We do know some things and everything we know goes against atheism.
Atheism questions the very cognitive faculties the atheist is using to reason with.
I'm an atheist skeptic , very skeptical of atheist's skepticism. I've learn a lot of atheist can't stand someone being skeptical of their skepticism.

Atheism might lead to an infinte regress... as that is what the evidence leads to. Most of us just say 'I do not know' and we are being completely honest with that statement. If you were honest, it would be the same answer for you.
Craig's Kalaam only suggests a cause... not a god. That cause, if the universe actually had a 'beginning' could be completely natural.
Atheists do not have a problem with an uncaused cause... and we would not have a problem with a god either... IF ONE WAS DEMONSTRATED.. but alas, it has not been, so we do not believe that which has never been proven to be true/exist. I would believe a god existed if one was demonstrated to exist. Can you do this?
@@smidlee7747 nothing goes against atheism as atheism is the stance on only 1 thing... a reaction to the claim that god/s exist. The religionist claims 'generic god' exists. The atheist says, 'I do not believe you'. That is all it takes to be an atheist. So, what goes against being an atheist?

You can claim atheism is complete nonsense, but, just like in the god claim, you cannot demonstrate it to be so. Can you? Mankind has created/worshipped over 10,000 gods in our history. You are an atheist for 9,999 of them, correct and believe in 1 of them (assuming you are monotheistic)? I just go one god further... Bertrand is also agonizing in hell for eternity. He was totally wrong about what a Christian is and believes about God. It is certainly anyone's right to reject the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The longer you talk the more amused I become at how hard you are trying to prove there is no God. Jesus is the Son of God sent to save us from our sins and live eternally in heaven. So many religions and preachers in the pulpit are false but God will judge them just like he will judge you. I will pray for you and your family to be saved. One other important thing, you are playing with fire, God will not be mocked!
