When I saw the new valve springs my first thought was I bet someone put a cam kit in it with matching timing gear, chain, lifter's and springs looks like they did cool. That holly is something special as you may already know, personally I would give it a proper rebuild and proper jetting and run it hell yeah you've got a piece gold there brother, it's all about the jetting. That carb was one of the first items inducted into the Hot Rod Magazine Speed Parts Hall of Fame.
A Holley double pumper would definitely be sweet! You are correct, I think someone had installed a cam and lifter kit along with the timing chain. I think this is a huge score!
Hi Omar, my first car in 1968 was a 64 mercury comet caliente convertable, 289 4 bbl, with the Fx trans ps, pb,naughahide interior, white top and that mercury orange- red color paint. Wish I had never parted with it. Good luck with your cyclone, sounds mean! Dave K
That was awesome. Those Comets are really nice cars. For a young guy you have a lot of knowledge with old cars. You make good detailed videos and your work is very meticulous. I followed you on your 428 build. Sorry about the block. It was just crappy luck and shouldn’t reflect the great work you did. Was a beautiful job you did and enjoyed watching the whole build. Best of luck on the Comet 👍🏻👍🏻
That is the 375 hp 396 and 425 hp 427 Corvette carb. It is a 780 cfm and is a valuable carb that I would love to take off your hands, lol. Neat carb. I T sounds like a beast. I am really sad that the 428 was cracked. Keep looking for a 428, they are great torquey engines. But a 289 is a good one too! Do you have headers on the Cyclone?
Thanks for the info! Carb will most likely be up for sale as the base linkage looks to be different. I’ll be installing some goodies on this comet, headers would be sweet!
VERY cool car, and very much sought after so cool find! Glad that the motor fired over and ran. She sounds great. Get her warmed up and check that valve lashing, but everything else you showed looks good
Yeah, that was definitely too much carb for a 289. Looks like a solid motor Omar. I was just checking out Classic Industries site and thankfully there are still some parts for the Comet because they are just Falcons under the sheetmetal.
Happy day when this engine comes aliv: It seems that lots of things were done to the engine. So you have a winner here. And you really deserve it. At least where you live you can take a car on the road as soon as it is save to drive. Wher I live the laws are killing guys like me who love classic cars. I have vehicles awaiting super stupid inspections. Having a rust hole the size of a penny makes a car fail. It is ridiculous.
Nice score .64 Comet are good looking car. Those heads or engine have been replace as they are 65 heads maybe close chamber also you can notice adjustable rocker so it 's not stock on a 289. those run really well with 600 cfm up to 7000 rpm
Coincidence maybe, but it occurred to me Friday that I dropped an Edelbrock 1406 and intake on my '69Falcon Labor Day 27 years ago. It's never been off the car or.had the top off since. Great carb for the daily driver/ cruiser. It will serve you well.
Very cool! I had en Edelbrock on my 66 mustang for 8 years before I sold it and never once touched it. Thing ran like a top even when I let it sit for months. 27 years is insane!
She would be great one for dual point distributor thats what guys around were iam from did a lot Takes a bit of tinker but it does great like adding few extra ponys Under the hood on top end mostly In those days you could buy rebuild Parts like fuel pumps water pumps ect ect
Hey Omar, Id like your permission to use the first 10 seconds of this video for a RUclips video I'm doing on my Caliente. Typical Ford products from that era, rusted out floor pans. I believe I told you the story about Ford engineers creating the e-coat system and selling the rights to use it to GM and Chrysler, which used them on all of their cars. Ford only used it on the top of the line vehicles like Thunderbird and Lincoln. Nice to see you with some new projects!
@@OmarRamirezGalaxiedad had a 1967 meteor in green. He loved it but needed a bigger newer car for towing so he got a Chevy impala in blue around 76 And a 73 super beetle in red. He always wanted to keep the merc. You do great work exploring.
@@alanwhite3280will have to take a look at the vin again, I’ll have to make some holes on the non existent floor haha I think I’ll end up putting a piece of steel for now
Aluminum water pump. K code you say . What else I wonder. Sounds like a beast. Great win.

@@OmarRamirezGalaxie Most definitely scored 👍
The valve cover look to be right. One has a placement for the PVC Valve and the other for the breather/oil fill tube.
I just took a look at one of the pictures from my 66 mustang and they look the same. So you are right! They are a correct pair.
Stoked to hear that first fire up! Love it!
Good job Omar . Looks like ya got a runner ....

That's the plan!
I love that year Comet. One of your best acquisitions. Can't wait to hear it run & taken for a spin.
You and me both!
What a sweet Cyclone! Very rare car I think. Make it look totally stock, but with that built motor in it. Wow! Serious cool, brother.
That’s a great idea, I’d love to have a stout engine in it and still look stock
Yeah, that was definitely too much carb for a 289. Looks like a solid motor Omar.

Yes classic industries is fairly close to me, I’ll be ordering some stuff through them. I did see they have the floor panels I need

Those wheels are my favorite and they look to be in excellent condition.
Yes they’re really nice, I think they look sweet on the comet!
Nice job!! Very good first start sequence you did there....taking the time to do thing right...and that chevelle
carb should bring you a few dollars.
Yes that would give some cash towards the build!
Love to hear this running. I am huge fan of the 289 engine!
Same here! Can make big power in a small package
@@OmarRamirezGalaxie I missed purchasing a 289 pulled from a ‘66 Mustang for $200 for my project. Have to keep looking!
Realy Nice the Cars. You can do a video in spanish please i'm from México thanks

Transmission kickdown was the piece on the side of the carb! You running a manual transmission in this project right? Nice motor
Yes t10 4 speed. I’m thinking it’s because the base and shaft is for a chevy so they tried to make it work haha
Sounds like it has a decent cam in it… I like the 289 ford and the 283 Chevy…good workhorse engines.
Yes very simple but very effective when done right. Love the 289 as well
The 3310 is a universal 750 DP. I noticed poly locks on the valve studs. Not factory so a previous owner might have installed a cam.
The 3310 has a rear metering block. Downleg boosters and a Chevy vin number. The first 3310 with no suffix is for the 396 375.
This looks like a great project. What happened to the GT 350?
I had a 1963 ford galaxie 390.I almost bought a comet like this for my first car but went with the 63 ford instead
Sounds like it has a cam upgrade
Very nice video.
Much appreciated Scott!
Haha, nice Omar. Nice. What are those tools on the shock tower braces?
Those are the Braun lights from harbor freight. They’re nice lights, when they go on sale it’s definitely worth it to grab a few
Very nice 🙂👍💕
Thank you! Cheers!
very nice!!
Valve covers are correct...pcv valve hennerally on the back side passenger side to port into vacum
Correct! I guess the script is offset on them

That would be cool, no problem
A 1964 with a generator? Would that not then be a 260 ?
No. I had two stock 64 Comet 289 K codes that had generators.
Cool car
Do you still have the cyclone
289 is a very good engine
Agreed!!
Omar, where are you located?
I’m in Southern California Long Beach area!
very cool
I'm a Ford guy I am from Ohio brother
Oh, and I will credit your channel in the clip.
Sure thing

Lol it’s funny because I saw a vintage ad for that corrosion resistant “aluminized” I think they called it
LIGHT THIS CANDLE!!!!!!
I love it. Is it the Canadian version?
I believe the meteor and some full size mercuries were built in Canada. Not entirely sure on the comet

The 2cd character in the VIN will tell you where it was built. That little engine does sound nice! Seat bolted right in?
