the issue with revenging first in an aoe pack is that when you charge depending on where you land, you may miss out on hitting some mobs with revenge as it's a cone effect. if any mobs are slightly out of the cone, that mob could 1shot or beat on your dps. Thunderclap is 100% effective for threat gen
Agreed, Thunderclap is always first on pull and if the mobs are not fleeing everywhere like in ToP or NW, for static mobs you can do the Revenge prio again depending on the positioning. The problem with Revenge is that you can use it even if you're not at range which looks like a bad design imo throwing an ability in the void... Thunderclap will always hit as long as the mob(s) are in the area. A slight point for the first row of talents, i know it's not every popular but i find War Machine so nice especially on Spiteful, you can get Rage sometimes even if you didn't killed the adds spawning and it gives you the speed boost (The craziest is on the Ghost spawned by one of the casters before first boss) in HoA you get flooded by rage). I noticed the rage gained was about 12 to 25% for an entire dungeon but on average you can expect ~1200 rage generated through the entire dungeon and up to 2500 rage if you are lucky with kills (Each dungeon you generate 10500 rage)
Well when you use condemn instead of ignore pain, you can use ignore pain first, then condemn as ignore pain shield also reduces damage taken by 50% while it holds, bur if you use Condemn, the condemn shield applied later will be consumed first while the buff from ignore is active, basically increasing ignore while doing damage altogether

Couple of Adjustments: I say Prot warriors have the highest uptime of mitigation. Did not include blood dk and guardian druid. Both should/could have more uptime of mitigation, but weren't fully considered (My Bad) 18 seconds of Max SB uptime does not include the increase if you are running bolster which then the uptime from bolster is added on top of that which was not mentioned. Every pug prot warrior not running reprisal has been a disaster in pugs. They leap around griefing the groups AOE damage and accidentally pulling nearby enemies. With reprisal they seem much stronger.
In the end that just is based off experience and Reps. I can equally take less damage with The Wall legendary or even Seismic Reverb, but it is about knowing when to kite + use ccs/externals to do that. But YES, reprisal can make warriors have a smoother damage intake just by having more SB uptime.
Is there any way you update this to include more information about Into the fray and Heavy repercussions? I have seen some high end tanks most notably Andybrew running on 25s HR and Into the frey and from some digging it can push ur block hit ratio from ~85% up to 100%. Do you have any insights on that build?

Very nice guide, but have a question about Thunderlord legendary. You didn't mention it as possible choice that goes along with Booming Voice and possibly Unstoppable Force. Why so? In M+ there's always groups of mobs to fight so in theory, it would be usable like 2-3 times on each pack.
With the changes to 9.0.5 and reprisal, Reprisal is just better defensive and offensive option than TL. The only reason The Wall is still considered is it is a slight more defensive option the reprisal if u need the big CDs often. And unstoppable force is never better than ravager for the reasons I said in the vid :)
Uh, then I really hope I get some higher level back ( I've made The Wall on a wrong item ) so I can test Reprisal in keys. Generals are very uncooperative about dropping it :(

People really sleep on Venthyr prot warrior because of a couple of "guides" on the internet. Giving a tank very powerful ST ability is obscenely powerful, couple that with little to no defensive loss and you have a combination that is extremely powerful. This is all on top of the fact that general draven has THE ABSOLUTE BEST no contest soulbinds for tanks. 10% to all damage reduction? you gotta be crazy NOT to pick that. Charge in, Shield block is already up, Condemn right in the bosses face = Threat for days... Keep in mind that the shield from Condemn stops ALL damage, not just 50% like IP and it stops magic damage too..
Nah, I would argue Pelagos magic damage dr is so much better for prot after they fixed it. It is also active all the time regardless health percentage. And phial is extremely superior for warrior because you already have heroic leap. Most of the top m+ prot warriors are also Kyrian with some few Night Faes in between.
I like vulpera. I think nose for trouble and Bag of tricks are both great for m+. But tauren, Blood elf are both good options as well. If you are ally, then Dark Iron or OG Dwarf BIS!
It is all relative. Some people find 12-15 a bit rough due to not having as much experience. I used seismic in a 22 Mists yesterday and did 5k overall. I like it especially on mists.
Feels bad because the clap playstyle was so fun. I rly think they should just turn the extra dmg back to 100% since you dont have triple mastery azerites now. Thanks for the reply tho. Keep smashin.
Although reprisal was recently nerfed from 6 seconds of SB to 4, it still will give us about 65% uptime of SB compared to the 45-50% we have now. This alone will make us one of the more sturdy tanks in m+ and should be our BIS in m+. For raid, the Wall should still be a better option due to tank swaps. Reprisal allows you to play AM for Damage or Bolster for more survivabilty.
I feel really bad playing prot warrior now, compared to BFA? No bloodsport for leech, no Anger Management reducing 4 abilities, into the fray 15% haste and big avatar windows. You feel like playing prot warrior with ress sickness

I played prot in BFA 8.1.5, before essences and corruptions, and that's what I'm comparing it to. It was definitely a nerf but that was intended as all would agree that we were too powerful after stat scaling at the end of the expansion. This has opened up different playstyles especially with ravager which I enjoy. Also makes my hands hurt less after a 7 hour m+ session of spamming TC haha. yes- Since my guild farms 10/10 Mythic CN every week, the legs that drop off of SLG are only 2 ilvl below the 235, so instead of wearing 235 legs and 226 boots, I wear 233 legs and 235 boots.
Not too much. In the end its mostly preference. I love vulpera for the Nose for Trouble healing at a start of pull + the 40 yard pull range (+10 over heroic throw) from Bag of tricks

6:02 wait... Isn't last stand 30% max hp? So your health goes to 130% and 40% of it it's 52% , a net gain of 12% not 6%
