It shows how important music is in our lives that such a turnable can exist. The development, the engineering and production, and finally the sound. Incredible. Thanks. Edited to add. That Guitar from 7:35 then the plate echo? Amazing...
Gosh! Again, an amazing sound. I know the song but not intimately, but I could still recognise sounds that I’ve never ever heard before. I wish this TT was more in reach of us ordinary mortals, but then again, I couldn’t see me parting with my Nottingham Analogue.
Well organized, controlled and clean sounding, one of the few turntables I've heard whose replay qualities manages to somewhat transcend youtube's limitations.
Michael Every time I listen to one of your vids I learn sooo much more about the meanings of many songs like ……Major Tom!! You are one special “bright spot” in our lives!! Cod Bless!
Once again - an extraordinarily beautiful turntable that must have been hard to return! 'Scary Monsters...' was a great album: perfect for its time, and so much more adventurous and daring than its more successful (and accessible) follow-up...
Carl nailed it with the Full Circle I used to sell in the UK way back when...Just needed a little time to perfect it...Mesmerising Mikey as were the other needle drops. Sheffield Steel would have been most appropriate but hey...Here's to trickle down...
While that particular song does not quite do it for me; I can certainly appreciate the "organic" realistic sound quality of it and this wonderful WB turntable. It makes me appreciate my little WB Circle just barely larger than the platter itself. I won't even ask how that is shipped back and forth to the UK. A large wood crate of some sort I suspect. Always appreciate your content and being at the forefront of demonstrating the analog vinyl sound reproduction.
To crawl inside Bowie's head one would need a tether on a timer to pull you out because you would never come out on your own. Thanks for this mini miracle.
the separation is great. What I like most is they lent you a gazillion dollar turntable and you stuffed it in a corner with a bunch of LP's you don't like ! It may interest the flamers that I own and use a WB tonearm . So there. Keep it up Mikey !
Excellent as always. Of course, we know that the biggest gain in systems when you spend $ is dynamic presentation, which is difficult to connote over RUclips. But I've got an imagination. I wonder Michael, how do you feel about periphery rings? I have a modest VPI at home and plunked down for the periphery ring and it has helped tame small warps and things. I've been happy to see my tonearm virtually not moving up/down with a more flat ride. To me, constricting this has felt like I am getting a clearer sense of timing/rhythm/pitch, since I'm able to track what was cut on the lacquer's flat plane more easily. It is perhaps confirmation bias, but to me, anything that allows the good feeling to be elicited is good to me!
Have an original vinyl , very dynamic , sounds good and punchy ..............then I listened to the CD ...........there they realy messed it up... Thanks for the upload .
I am wondering if the positive immersive effect is the result of cumulative and flawless consistency over time. We constantly anticipate repetitious or newly introduced artifacts of some kind as a result of following the musical tempo, style, and orchestration. So when they are delivered this flawlessly you begin to trust the experience and fully absorb it. For me, it's the opposite of the "wince factor".
Michael, I saw your review in the magazine, it was great as usual. Michael do you have any plans to review Denon's new turntable the DP-3000ne, direct drive? I believe Denon is calling it their flagship.
Sounds great Michael. May I ask how you are transcribing the vinyl to digital? My DAC tells me this is 24b 192k audio file. Listening through my Alpha Design Lab Stratos DAC/ADC and Focal Clear headphones these files sound excellent. Thanks for posting this song, I am now going to hunt down a Scary Monsters pressing.
Revelatory. I must have heard this track hundreds of times but this is like hearing it anew. Bowie’s vocals never sounded better. Even the fade out which I sometimes feel outstays it’s welcome now doesn’t last long enough. I’m off to give my own UK original a spin on my Linn LP12 to see how it compares.
My god!!! I’m selling my house and buying this turntable. The whole system, even! Can you tell us what you’re using? Just to see if the summer house has to go too.
Michael, the part where you were discussing a turntables presentation of certain genres of music, do you think this has to do with cartridge and stylus selection? Thank you
Since it's direct-drive and the platter doesn't appear to be made of metal -looks acrylic - so how does it shield the magnetic field from reaching the cartridge?
I’ve heard many pressings on multiple setups and this is ridiculous sounding curious you should rip this on your personal rig I love to hear the difference? Is it close or night and day?
No mention of Robert Fripp’s contribution not only to the track Fashion but to the Scary Monsters album as a whole? Scary Monsters is such a great album not just because Robert Fripp sprayed burning guitar all over it but because David Bowie wrote songs that demanded Fripp spray burning guitar all over them.
Fools believing that vinyl is superior to digital 😅 I have both a technics 1200g a Topping d90se and no bun indented but the Topping tops the technics 1200g turntable.
I don't know what is more bizarre, the price of 370,000 dollars, the fact that the sound of such a record player is presented on RUclips, or the most bizarre thing is that it is Michael Fremer in that role???
I wonder why these videos so often actually fail to deliver. This example has largely similar faults as the Steely Dan track. Midrange is cardboard-like and 'splashy' for lack of a better word. This is also very heavily distorted - could be the track being the innermost groove of the side. No true music lover should settle for that. The streaming version absolutely wipes the floor with this. What gives?
370k doesn't mean it's an outstanding player. It's the more expensive must be better mindset. It's not. There are many variables from groove to the ear. The biggest is the carbon - based lifeform listening.
You are an outlier to the comments. I find that interesting. On the website someone uses the same "wipes the floor" metaphor to describe how far superior the vinyl version sounds that the streamed one.
Sounds nice but that turntable must be the most tacky, worst looking turntable ever. I bet Trump has one to match all gold appliances he probably have.
It shows how important music is in our lives that such a turnable can exist. The development, the engineering and production, and finally the sound. Incredible. Thanks. Edited to add. That Guitar from 7:35 then the plate echo? Amazing...
Everything you've played on that turntable sounds Amazing.Soundstage is wide and deep. Thanks for sharing it with us.
That sounds great Michael ! Plus one my favorite Bowie tunes! Love your videos! Nice turntable!!
Gosh! Again, an amazing sound. I know the song but not intimately, but I could still recognise sounds that I’ve never ever heard before. I wish this TT was more in reach of us ordinary mortals, but then again, I couldn’t see me parting with my Nottingham Analogue.
Nice crisp bite to the sound! I can only imagine what it sounded like in your room 🙌🏽
Well organized, controlled and clean sounding, one of the few turntables I've heard whose replay qualities manages to somewhat transcend youtube's limitations.
Wow that sounds incredible even over my phone speakers. Best Bowie album for me.
Yet again, amazing even on RUclips, unbelievable, that’s some turntable, thanks Michael, stay well
Michael

Once again - an extraordinarily beautiful turntable that must have been hard to return! 'Scary Monsters...' was a great album: perfect for its time, and so much more adventurous and daring than its more successful (and accessible) follow-up...
Scary Monsters is my favorite Bowie album. Still have my original vinyl I bought when it came out. Ouststanding!
Amazing sound and clarity. It’s like hearing the song for the first time.
Yes. Digital files can sound very good can’t they.
@ That’s like saying a digital scan of a picture taken with a 35 MM film camera can’t still retain the warmth of the film.
Interesting. Maybe Tidal et al should play records, record them as digital files (like Michael) and stream those instead. You could be onto something.
Thanks! I'm appreciating the song for the first time -- maybe in part due to your presentation.
Carl nailed it with the Full Circle I used to sell in the UK way back when...Just needed a little time to perfect it...Mesmerising Mikey as were the other needle drops. Sheffield Steel would have been most appropriate but hey...Here's to trickle down...
Once again, you were right about its versatility. Extraordinary

Amazing sound
You can truly feel that the musicians are in the room with you rather than a flat digital sound
You are listening to a digital recording via you tube so I am a little confused about your reference to digital sound sounding flat.
TT sounds great but your system is top notch too 👍. Awesome. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Wow (again)! THANK YOU!
I have the 80 townhouse pressing but I doubt it'll ever sound this good, cheers
the separation is great. What I like most is they lent you a gazillion dollar turntable and you stuffed it in a corner with a bunch of LP's you don't like !

Thank you for everything
Even listening to this on my iPad with my Sony Bluetooth IEMs the dynamics, instrument separation, and detail is readily apparent.
Amazing Sound. Very Very nice Stereo sizzle..❤
"Really expensive" is an understatement.
Sounds incredible!
I love vinyl
I bet you also love cack

Stunning

I bought this album the day it came out and now I'm sitting here thinking I've never actually heard it

excellent observation!
I heard it , and it was "fan f***g tasic"! I wish I could afford one!
Thanks Mike✌️
Perhaps you can do an article/video on the best way to rip vinyl... personally I favour using a field recorder.
Mmm Michael I need to dig this album out and listen.
Michael, I saw your review in the magazine, it was great as usual. Michael do you have any plans to review Denon's new turntable the DP-3000ne, direct drive? I believe Denon is calling it their flagship.
Sounds good from my house!
I use a Lynx HiLo A/D converter 96/24
Robert Fripp is a monster on this album!
How do you avoid getting copyright strikes?
RUclips has a program with publishers. The publisher takes over monetization. I'm good with that!
Love it! Teenage Wildlife is such a killer tune and one of his best albums in my opinion.
Sounds great through my phone's speaker.
Woah! Yep, sounds ultra. Just like your Babylon Sisters play-off.
More!!!!!
Not my cup of tea in music, but obviously an excellent turntable.
I have an original RCA UK pressing of Scary Monsters that sounds great. It's an under-rated Bowie album in some ways
Fast and punchy drums!
Love the table Mike! What is the record clamp or weight you are using ? Does it really make a noticeable difference?
It's the supplied Wilson-Benesch clamp
My god!!! I’m selling my house and buying this turntable. The whole system, even! Can you tell us what you’re using? Just to see if the summer house has to go too.
Michael, the part where you were discussing a turntables presentation of certain genres of music, do you think this has to do with cartridge and stylus selection? Thank you
I'd normally think that but here it seems that every musical genre sounds wow!
Since it's direct-drive and the platter doesn't appear to be made of metal -looks acrylic - so how does it shield the magnetic field from reaching the cartridge?
The coils and stator are well away from the record. They are not under the platter.
Is the dust cover closed or open? I can’t tell
There's no dust cover!
I’ve heard many pressings on multiple setups and this is ridiculous sounding curious you should rip this on your personal rig I love to hear the difference? Is it close or night and day?
Maybe I’ll do that!

Scary Monsters is such a great album not just because Robert Fripp sprayed burning guitar all over it but because David Bowie wrote songs that demanded Fripp spray burning guitar all over them.
Yes should have given Fripp a shout out
In this song Bowie imitates the Talking Heads sound?
Fools believing that vinyl is superior to digital 😅 I have both a technics 1200g a Topping d90se and no bun indented but the Topping tops the technics 1200g turntable.
Your comment is incredibly foolish.
As people are listening to a digital file and seem to be impressed by it perhaps streaming is ok after all.
And RUclips's bit rate is?
I don't know what is more bizarre, the price of 370,000 dollars, the fact that the sound of such a record player is presented on RUclips, or the most bizarre thing is that it is Michael Fremer in that role???
I like the sound very much, so I’m happy hé does this! 😊
Why shouldn’t I be in that role???
A seriously useless comment.
Nice t/t but seriously out of my range. Just have one issue. It would have been nice if you'd given the plinth a bit of a clean for the video.
I got one at a garage sale for $37. Kaching
Mike - Barnes & Noble carry The Absolute Sound
Meshugas!!!!
I never understood people who complain about the price of luxury items. 😮
Because price indeed is the product.
Isn’t this just a big tease ? How many people who view this channel can afford this insanely price turntable ? Just wondering 🤔
Not many but the point is to make sure everyone knows that vinyl playback can reach these heights
Go ask all the car channels why they bother showing high end cars while you're at it.

The irony of so many audiophiles saying how good this sounds when they are listening to a digital file they usually despise.
Sounds nice but that turntable must be the most tacky, worst looking turntable ever. I bet Trump has one to match all gold appliances he probably have.
It’s available in a much less gaudy silver finish
Why is it audiophile music always sounds like CRAP ?
