Which went from being around 15 wpm to around 50-60 in the same time span. So wherever you are, be it 10 wpm, or 60 wpm, there is always room for improvement. I actually think it is much easier to get from 60 to 100 wpm. Around a year now I have been trying to get from 100-110 wpm to 120-130. I have been doing this typing stuff from months, I started nearly October 2022, and till January I was able to reach 80 wpm on 10fastfingers website But after that, I still do typing and my speed doesn't seem to increase, it is stuck somewhere nearly 87wpm. What should I do?
Practice makes perfect. If you feel you aren't improving anymore, you might be near your limit. Or it might just take a lot more practice time. Hard to tell without knowing how you type
I had a surprisingly similar journey! Until one year ago, I had been typing the same way as you with two fingers (+1 or 2 for special keys). I also had to look at the keyboard regularly and I also had the same speed as you! Around 60 WPM. One year ago, I got a new keyboard as well. A custom mechanical one. I also switched to a new keyboard layout (EurKey instead of QWERTZ) and decided more or less on a whim that now'd be the time to learn touch typing. I used typingclub, which is a bit more aimed towards beginners, but I had a really good experience and it was fun. It took me about 1 week to get to 60 WPM WPM, I think, but I spent more time per day practising. I didn't really continue to practise after that, I learned a lot of the non-letter keys just on the go. Now I'm sitting at around 70-80 WPM. At some point I also want to get to 80 or higher consistently.
Amazing journey! I've never heard of EurKey, but I'm glad it's working for you. Tbh I think I'd also naturally get faster if I typed more at work etc. It all comes down to repetition in the end.
@@Its_jason_ho EurKey is basically just US QWERTY but with tons of extra characters for European languages mapped to Alt Gr keys. It's pretty cool, allows you to type words in many more languages, which was a requirement for me.

i actually try to read a bit faster than i type then memorize the word so i can take a slight look at the keyboard and automatically increase the accuracy&confidence while i type
Practice a little everyday, or when you can and you'll see improvement! The important thing is to not cheat the process, even if it feels really difficult. Over time you'll develop the muscle memory
@@Its_jason_ho it's mainly just hard for me to know what fingers should be responsible for what keys and well specifically how i should move them when i type, but i hope i'd get that with more practice and just kinda trying different things.
Yea absolutely, it was really hard for me too. I think what I like about keybr is that they take it one letter at a time. But it'll still take getting used to. There are other sites as well, that focus even more on single letters and fingers I think. Worth having a look around
I can't remember my exact story but I typed exceedingly quickly with just two fingers(70-90), I switched to touch typing for ergonomics because I major in computer science. I type around 130 rn(about a year later)
I’ve never thought that i will able to type above 20wpm with 10 fingers but here i am after a month typing at 94wpm on average! If i could do it I doubt u can’t just have faith and consistency. Note that u needn’t an expensive custom keyboard, start with a regular one…
Keep at it! And remember you can do it slowly initially and focus on making no mistakes first. This is a great way to increase your speed through accuracy
I'm no expert, but I got to my speed with practice! There's no shortcut. You have to build up your muscle memory through websites like keybr and eventually your speed will increase. I recommend practicing when you can for at least 30 mins at a time. Good luck!
@@Its_jason_ho Well... If you must know the current world record is 273 held by rocket over the span of 60 seconds. But if you want to consider the 15 second record (which isnt the official time) that is 305 held by izagani

Sounds like you have the potential to type at 120wpm! It definitely would take a while to get used to the transition though. I reckon a few months practice would get you there
my school had me do a lot stuff like this, had an entire class dedicated to teaching typing, later in life I got myself a custom mechincal keyboard and had to learn how to type all over again because of the layout but I improved from 60wpm to 90wpm with something close 100wpm which was amazing as it only took me like a month to get that average. Also while watching this I got self-concious about my typing and thought that I only typing with two fingers but realized lol, even while typing this I thought I was only typing with two fingers.
I never had a typing class, but my parents always told me to learn to type properly. Took me a long time to come around haha. But still there's nothing wrong with typing with any number of fingers as long as it works

I’ve been touch typing for 3 years and I have a highscore of only 90 wpm. Now I’m learning Dvorak layout and I’m back at 19 wpm
It's a learning process, you'll be back to 90 soon!
how does ali abdaal get 160 wpm, genuinely curious as you list 100 wpm as top 1%. Have I just anwered my own questions. Thx Nick
His video is really helpful actually. I know he's helped a lot of people in their typing journeys as well as mine. But hitting 160wpm is genuinely superhuman, so it could just be natural talent haha
i actually try to read a bit faster than i type then memorize the word so i can take a slight look at the keyboard and automatically increase the accuracy&confidence while i type
That's cool! Are you working on not looking at all in the future?
@@Its_jason_ho yes still trying to adjust
I like your narration style
Thanks, I appreciate it!
i still type like you did with two fingers and am trying to learn but it's hard, but i'll just try to practice everyday.
I've started like you with 40wpm in april, and now I'm at around 70-80wpm.
Trying to get to 120wpm including punctuation and numbers
That's great progress! You'll get there in no time
I can't remember my exact story but I typed exceedingly quickly with just two fingers(70-90), I switched to touch typing for ergonomics because I major in computer science. I type around 130 rn(about a year later)
That's still amazingly fast either way haha
I'm currently trying to do the same (bar the 130wpm part lmfao), cause I think it'll help me code a tiny bit faster
also dont forget to click ctrl+R immediately to avoid the disappointment
Well done!
Thanks!
I’ve never thought that i will able to type above 20wpm with 10 fingers but here i am after a month typing at 94wpm on average! If i could do it I doubt u can’t just have faith and consistency. Note that u needn’t an expensive custom keyboard, start with a regular one…
Of course, you can learn with any keyboard. Just have dedication and consistency
each day how many hours should practice for increase typing speed?
30 mins a day should be enough!
Nice! i like your passion for doing this,i wish i had the same haha!
You don't have to do it as long or as regular as me! Just learn the positions and then it'll come over time
Now do one but including a lot of numbers and symbols. That would be interesting to see.
That would definitely be a challenge! I'd probably have to start from square 1 haha
best video for typing
I got 97 WPM with 100% accuracy in 4 months of practice every day more than 6 hours of practice
That's dedication! Congrats
@@Its_jason_ho ❤️
How long did you practice each day? Im stuck at letter 'u' in keybr...
The recommended practice time on keybr is 30 mins a day, half the time I would practice 1 hr a day when I could
After six months since you started
did you get average 100wpm?
I decided to focus on learning new things, which you can find on my channel!
bro can you tell me,
which keyboard is it you are using?
The keyboard stats are shown at the start of the video
It's the QK65 👍
@@Its_jason_ho thanks brother
i also typed with like 4 or 5 fingers until I bought an expensive keyboard and felt shame for not being able to use it properly 😅
Right?! It's a legit reason haha
Amazing and motivational
im good at english while touch typing but sluggish on my own lenguage!i feel like touch typing is just made for english:/
how much time did you spent every day ?
At least 30 mins, sometimes 1 hour :)
Sir plz tell me keyboard company name what u r using
Of course. I use the QK65 from QwertyKeys
Thanks man
Appreciate the support!
you gotta help me im stuck at 40 wpm
40wpm isn't bad! Still better than a lot of people. Just take it slow and practice and you'll get better for sure
Well that is inspiring
Thanks!
Its been 3 weeks that ive done touchtyping every day but with all letters i'm only at 22wpm. Its so frustrating
Keep at it! And remember you can do it slowly initially and focus on making no mistakes first. This is a great way to increase your speed through accuracy
The brightness indeed
LMAO
It blinded me!
I type 20 wpm😭 can you please right the name were can I practice thank you
No problem! Keybr.com
🥶🥶🥶 Simpsons 🥶🥶🥶
Only the best
I am starting touch typing
Good luck!
that 60 wpm is with punctuatoon
good video bro
Glad you liked it!
Name Jason Ho ????
That's me
@@Its_jason_ho where are u from name is jakaon Ho ?
I'm a beginner how can i aquire typing speed
I'm no expert, but I got to my speed with practice! There's no shortcut. You have to build up your muscle memory through websites like keybr and eventually your speed will increase. I recommend practicing when you can for at least 30 mins at a time. Good luck!
My age is 16 and top speed I've achieved is 176 WPM, with average of 149, You now inspired me to hit 200 WPM.
That's amazing! I know you can do it
@@Its_jason_ho Thnx Man :)
For me, I have the opposite of your problem of reading too fast. For me my muscle memory is way ahead of my reading no matter how fast I read. Ironic
That's a better problem to have, you must type fast!
the current 2 finger world record is 178 wpm lol
Oh wow, that's ridiculous! It's not far off the world record for normal typing
@@Its_jason_ho Well... If you must know the current world record is 273 held by rocket over the span of 60 seconds. But if you want to consider the 15 second record (which isnt the official time) that is 305 held by izagani
I was way off. That's crazy fast! I don't even think my brain could process words that fast
@@Its_jason_ho You'd be surprised at how quick the brain can process words
nah starsuki beat that 178 just under 2 years ago btw
1:01 - Using all your fingers? Standard touch typing uses 9 fingers.
I sometimes changed up which thumb I would use for the space bar, so it made it 10
@@Its_jason_ho Oh I see. I use both thumbs for keys as well as space so I was curious if you did that
@@sapiently1 Yea I'm not sure why I change sometimes, it just happens naturally
I can't get along with a phone though. No way. 😥😥
which keycaps are that?
These are the GMK Inukuma dupes.
are u korean? me too
Haha not Korean, I'm Chinese, but I've been mistaken for Korean too
@@Its_jason_ho then why are you writing korean?
That start clip is from another RUclipsr called :3ildcat not me. Sorry if I confused you!
goood
i still two finger type, reaching 100 wpm, without looking at the keyboard... idk how
That's impressive, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
@@Its_jason_ho sometimes, i do have to look at the keyboard to reposition my fingers, in case i make a mistake which is somewhat rare. but i really want to learn touch typing as i can't make any more progress as i am.
Sounds like you have the potential to type at 120wpm! It definitely would take a while to get used to the transition though. I reckon a few months practice would get you there
@@Its_jason_ho thanks m8
Typing like that really isn't bad, I can get 100 wpm pretty easy lol.
The way you type at the end looks like 50wpm🤨
I promise it's not but I wish it looked faster haha
my school had me do a lot stuff like this, had an entire class dedicated to teaching typing, later in life I got myself a custom mechincal keyboard and had to learn how to type all over again because of the layout but I improved from 60wpm to 90wpm with something close 100wpm which was amazing as it only took me like a month to get that average.
Also while watching this I got self-concious about my typing and thought that I only typing with two fingers but realized lol, even while typing this I thought I was only typing with two fingers.
I never had a typing class, but my parents always told me to learn to type properly. Took me a long time to come around haha. But still there's nothing wrong with typing with any number of fingers as long as it works
lets' do kebr
me whos gotten a 61 wpm at a typing game right now:
(._.)
hmm, I type with two fingers and get 100wpm w/o looking =D
That's impressive, I'd be happy with 100wpm no matter how I did it
@@Its_jason_ho Cheers, and enjoy the journey! All the best 🙏🙏
stuck at 30 wpm
A bit of practice every day and you'll get faster!
i am in 17WPM
Getting there!

yeah the video is 7:27 minutes long @@Its_jason_ho

Don't put your wrists and elbows on the desk surface, please! Bear in mind: if it would be useful and helpful all pianists and organists should do that anyway.
I saw someone suggest this on another video, but it feels so unnatural at first! I ended up using a wrist rest sometimes instead
@@Its_jason_ho Most useful and productive approaches are extremely difficult at an initial stage.
And the opposite is clear: dumb, silly and stupid things are always fun and easy-peasy 🙂
Captil
Keep practicing and it'll go up, trust me! Don't worry about speed. Go for accuracy
@@Its_jason_ho thanks for tips but I have a question ❓ what about wrist position should be rested on table or free on the air ?
@@maximianum personally after typing for too long my wrists got sore. So I put a wrist rest underneath them. Nothing special. Just rolled up a wristband or sometimes a cloth.
Lie 😂
if i hit 69.5, to keep my morale up, i would have to lose the .5

Throwing in numbers, capitalizations, and symbols DRASTICALLY lowered my speed 🥲
Yea I've been seeing that too when I type in more real life situations, KeyBR is great, but other sites add in the capitalizations to be more realistic
I've tried it a few times, but some people on there are insanely fast!
