- Very special tune by Alex Reece & Wax Doctor under the guise of Jazz Juice.

Dating from 1995, I personally could not fathom this track at first, instead going straight for the lighter and easy-going b-side "Back To Back". Subsequent listening gave me the opportunity to appreciate the true beauty of this track.
Titled "Detroit", a nod to the old detroit-house sound, the track builds a soundscape of mysterious perhaps omnipresent synth pads over a bongo infused drum beat, eventually combining a wonderfully expressive bassline that is pure jungle in its essence.
Part of the movement of 'jazzy', less rave-orientated, drum & bass music that came to fruition in that year, this is definitely one of the finer examples and has a special status confirmed by its re-release as a double pack 12" remix project in 1997!
Yout of today- listen and appreciate, this is drum and bass.
Still feelin this after all these years..i think the word is TIMELESS!!
What a Lullaby !!!!!!!!
So many memories. The stuff of legend!
You can clearly hear Alex Reeces influence on this one; love it.
Play this song at 33 and it’ll blow your mind all over your face!
This track is on SO many mixtapes from back in the day.. And rightfully so! Classic.
Brilliant vinyl, both side kick ass. Alex Reece and the main man Wax Doctor on point
I used to smash this on the airwaves of London.. 🔥🔥
4:47 that's the reece!
Just dropped you an email....
one of the best tunes from r&s "order to dance 6" compilation :-))
"music is the basis for all life" :)
Best ambient dnb track ever. I'm getting the vinyl.
Timeless, amazing drum & bass classic. Incredible music.
Yea, I agree. I got that track on the green ArtCore EP. One of the most beautiful tracks around, drops nicely in a mix, but Ive never heard it in a mix.
Wicked tune, thanks for the upload
Alex Reece and Wax Doctor were amazing together. Such a shame that they disappeared. The late 90s was a graveyard for so many of the original dons; they had a fairly big comeback in 99 and then they disappeared forever.
Cause the scene went to shit. The 90's was it and died out.
14 years on from buying it (jees...) this tune still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Love this!
Beautiful song.
Simplicity at its best........awesome!!!!!!
same with me. absolutely timeless masterpiece!
Wicked tune.
perfection

Hey Ornsman, thanks heaps for this upload. I'd forgotten about this tune altogether until those bongos started up, and then the synth stabs and the little shimmer ... this was a landmark piece for me. I remember always handling this 12" very very carefully on the trip from the box to the turntable ... would have been hard to replace!! Precious Material releases always were aptly named. This was a really magical time for new music. Got more PMs?
Have the 500th 👍 on me. It's a pleasure/TUNE
quite possibly the most creative track of the decade which was the 90's!!
......
@Ornsman
Yea, there is!
❤
There's a Laurent Garnier remix of this (called the 'Laboratoire mix') which is amazing! Don't suppose anyone can upload it?
orsman....I stand corrected...we must have both had the same Herbie Hancock sample 7"....but you are right...5 years before myself and Lars used the same sample...thanks for correction.
Wycombe sound! in the pound! oioi :D

I just want to know where this Roland pad is coming from, I'm looking for the corresponding track for ages (15 years now)!!!
sounds like detroit.

not sure about that? Think this tune was a good few years before... nice tune though nonetheless =)
