    Hi Jay. Great little lesson. I started rehabilitating (tuning?) my takeaway about 6 months ago. I am not normally a training device kind of guy, but I thought the ProSendr practice device, which is a cuff that you put on your trailing arm, really made sense. It is consistent with what you are teaching here. The trailing arm and wrist position on takeaway leads to a better position at top, which sets you up for transition, etc. For me, it has made a big difference. My path is straight down the line now, and I'm now more focused on transition to get a few degrees inside to out. Also, you conveyed in 5 minutes what takes other guys on youtube 20 or 30 minutes. Brevity is very much appreciated! 😅

      Really glad you found it useful.... Also has to be the first time anyone has said my content is much shorter than anyone else's 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
      Reason why content is generally always around the 10 minutes mark is the mid roll advertising. Anything less than 8 minutes doesn't bring in hardly any ad revenue 👍🏻

    Excellent video. I had a similar issue (taking away hugely inside) but was still hitting from the inside because the over the top move was still not getting me to swing from the outside. The launch monitor numbers don't help identify that issue and it really is only video (as you say a number of times in these comments) that help get to the root cause of the problem. Thanks Jay for continuing to post instructional videos in addition to the great club reviews.

    Never seen this drill before but it definitely feels very simple and unified and gets me in the same position of my eyes staying centered over the ball.

      Can also help recognise and show lateral sway whilst doing this.
      I've done this drill with many students whilst also popping a pencil in their mouths.... Pencil points to the ball and if you sway off or move off in any way the pencil moves too 👍🏻

    I suffer big time with the ott swing. My right hand is definitely the problem but I didn't know how to solve it despite having lessons . This tip must be working as I seem to activate muscle I haven't used in years ! Thanks for the great drill, Jay. Somehow, during my 6-month ongoing convalescence , I've developed the dreaded disconnect backswing. This is something that I will be able to do to nip that ugly habit in the bud!

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 месяца назад +1

      Using a phone is a really simple way to record how the backswing starts and goes up into transition. Even if you have a relatively low grade phone the swing is normally, compared to the down swing at least, slow enough to be able to see where you start to go wrong 👍🏻

    • @Carl_Spackler
      @Carl_Spackler 4 месяца назад

      @AskGolfNut Agree, Jay. I've used my phone quite a bit to record my swing. But for me, seeing is one thing, but I also need to connect the visual with the "feelz". That's why I count on professionals such as you and my swing coach!
      I did record my putting stroke in super slow motion, using my new Bettinardi Inovai 6.0. Thanks to it (and certainly not to my skill!), the ball skids for less than 2" and then already begins to roll.

    Great drill, and very timely. I just filmed myself at the range and I noticed I was hugely inside! I didn't even realize it. I've been working on improving the takeaway and seen excellent results. I'll definitely be incorporating this drill into my practice routine.
    One question: I've had fabulous results with my irons, wedges, and even fairway woods, but I'm finding that those feels don't seem to transfer to my driver takeaway. What would you suggest about handling the longer club that's more forward in the stance?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 месяца назад

      To be fair it's a totally different set up and swing, so even though the takeaway is actually not too dissimilar, the initial setup makes things move slightly differently due to tilts etc.
      It's probably best discussed on a Live Stream.. Tomorrow evening is an Open All Access Live Stream at 7pm UK Time. Feel free to join in and ask the question there 👍🏻

    Well, obviously a player shouldn't pull the club, or turn club, inside the arc. But, the extendors in the left hand can't extend; and, the club moves back outside the arc, when you place the left hand in that position.

    I believe I'm guilty of this but I hit draws (sometimes big ones) with my irons and rarely pull my iron shots. The pull slice really only appears when I get into my 3 wood and driver and it happens pretty frequently. Can you make any sense of this?

      Sometimes you get a great result from a poor swing, when the timing is perfect! The whole idea is to improve consistency and strike, and with an OTT swing, that ain't gonna happen! Keep on hacking!
