everybody's shocked that Richard Christy from the Howard Stern show was in Death. I was shocked that Richard Christy from Death was on the Howard Stern show
Sean Reinert, the drummer on Human, doesn't get enough recognition for his work with Death. I know his real band is Cynic, who are incredible, but the work he did on Human was really killer. That opening double bass fading in on Human is memorable.
Well he succeeded very well to create his own sound! The drumming on Death's The Sound of Perseverance is nothing like I have ever heard, just increadably good and most of all unique!
To me, RC is the dude..he appreciates his good fortune, has lived with nothing and has used his talents and great personality to get him ahead in life. He doesn't feel entitled, he's earned it. He's now married to a beautiful woman, has his dream job making us laugh and can fall back on his other dream whenever he needs or wants to. Compared to some other Stern staffers Christy IS THE MAN. Rock on Richard!!!!
I'm a drummer and Richard has been one of my main role models to follow! His story is so amazing! Motivates me to keep on drumming and getting better everyday!! Definitely for me one of the best drummers in the world! Keep on rocking Richard!
5:21 That’s exactly what he did in Death. He created a unique style of drumming. I think one reason why The Sound of Perseverance is a bit ahead of the rest of the Death discography is the drums. Gene Hoglan is a great drummer as well but if it was him playing in that album, the songs wouldn’t be as original as they are now. If Chuck didn’t die and they continued producing albums together Richard playing in his style consistently, he would be much better known drummer today.
These videos are very inspirational and really helps people to practise more and more. Richard Christy is one of my favorites. Some sick drumming on Sound of Perseverance.\../
Damn. What a nice guy. Very unassuming. Played in Death. In my opinion he was the best drummer for Death. And he doesn't make a noise about it. Hat's off man.
That is amazing i saw the Death live at Dinamo dvd years ago but didn't know anything about Richard he is quite a character and is a hard core drummer. i love deaths Symbolic album and their last album. Amazing music to my ears.
Public Assassin was amazing! I watched them on two different occasions at Club Slam in Joplin, Missouri back in 1992. I had the pleasure of hanging out with them a bit on those nights... before I received a throat injury in the mosh pit.
I love he admits it was a sausagefest! LOL Honesty is the true barometer. 'Being a carpenter, barista, customer service representative, machine operator, hostess, bar keeper has not gotten me laid. Quote unquote. Be what it may, Glamour is for the glamorous.
Started watching Beetlejuice videos lately and at one point I thought I saw what looked to be Richard Christy ! But I just dismissed the idea of an ex Death and Iced Earth metal drummer being part of Howard Stern show, but it turned out to be true ! The world is small !! Thank you for the upload, cheers from Morocco.
Greg Ponder from that band is also the guy that recoreded the albums that my old death metal band did..Noctopia..look it up on myspace..so you can hear Greg's recording talents..he also did back up vocals on certain songs of ours
He spotlighted his drumming a few times but howard HATES it when his employees find success outside of the show because he believes that is taking away from their concentration on the show and for howard the show comes before everything.
Richard is a mid-western man from Kansas; polite, eloquent and good at his craft. Probably the best ever metal drummer ever but he's too modest to ascertain that role. Having said that, he's also one the funniest guys around, as well. His role at the Howard Stern Show was and is pivotal. Hey Richard, keep making Charred Walls of the Damned records!
The song is "Spirit Crusher" by Death off of the album the Sound of Perseverance. If you have never heard Death I urge you to go do so immediately. Even better go to iTunes and download Symbolic by them. Best $10 you can spend on metal.
That's less than half the time most people spend working their corporate job. You've got guys like EVH that played the guitar from the moment they woke up till they went to bed.
@@Hurfdurflol that wasn’t was he was trying to say. He was trying to say that the best musicians practice more hours a day than an office worker spends on his job
@MetalUpYourAssAgain I'm not really saying anything bad about other drummers, I'm just saying guys like Christy deserve some props for being better then most.
i remember when stern had korn on and they played a song. howard brought richard in to talk about how he's a metal drummer and they had no clue who he was or the bands he was in. then he sat at the kit and killed it, they were still unimpressed
yes of course i already thought of that. when i say "it's enough" i mean all these aspects you just mentioned. so enough to cover all the costs and to make a good living..
Great Richard !! I love what he did with his baby Charred Walls of the Damned... if you guys liked Control Denied maybe imo you could like CWOD... try to listen to 'Zero Span' there is a video
I actually didn't liked that much. With the Control Denied stuff there was a huge amount of things going on, but with CWOTD there is some kind of predictability.
everybody's shocked that Richard Christy from the Howard Stern show was in Death. I was shocked that Richard Christy from Death was on the Howard Stern show
He still is on the Howard Stern show
Same here. Howard is an asshole too, he makes light of Richard's abilities.
A DAWG sammmeeee😂
A DAWG Same!!
Same
Richard is the coolest dude ever. So genuine but incredibly funny and talented. Awesome guy
Playing drums and listening and playing Sound of Perseverance got me through high school . Great video
I guess you could say you...persevered through high school *puts on sunglasses*

proflonghair07 pretty random considering this video doesn’t feature Sean
Flatting of emotions is also my favorite Death intro and Human is also my personal favorite.💕👍😃😊😝
I think he does: everyone is talking about him! Justifiably so ☺️
@@01theyounggun - True, but Richard has said before that Sean was one of his favorite drummers
Well he succeeded very well to create his own sound! The drumming on Death's The Sound of Perseverance is nothing like I have ever heard, just increadably good and most of all unique!
BeardedButtCrack Even the drumming on Iced Earth's Horror Show is totally impeccable!

I just added this video to my faaaaavorites.
Wow! He straight up said he didn't get laid for a decade. Now that's a transparent, honest man.
Chuck is legend....blessed are those who have met and hung out with him.
This guy is such an amazing drummer, I just fucking love his work on the Sound of Perseverance!
Pretty fucking impressive....richard is my faaaaaaaaaaavorite
fuckin ay hahahaha i can't not think of him when i hear the word 'favorite"
His passion for his art shines through, he can applied the same amount of dedication to his work on HS. Good on you Richard!
I'm a drummer and Richard has been one of my main role models to follow! His story is so amazing! Motivates me to keep on drumming and getting better everyday!! Definitely for me one of the best drummers in the world! Keep on rocking Richard!
he's not a douche, he is being honest. he's a really good drummer. 99% of drummers out there can't play what he does.
I friggin' love Richard Christy! Such a good hearted dude!
Richard is undoubtedly a bad ass drummer!! Great off-beat drum patterns and my favorite work of his is of course on The Sound of Perseverance - Death!
RIP Chuck and RIP Richard's hands!
This is a great video. Richard is the man!

distractions... like... vagina!!!!!! LOLOLOL so fucking funny! long live death! lol
And in terms of distractions, it pretty hard to compete with that one.
That moment when u realize richard christie from the howard stern show play drums in death
I just experienced that moment and I'm completely mind fucked!!
Seank C1tikal5000 more like when you realize that Richard Christie from death is on the Howard stern show
These videos are very inspirational and really helps people to practise more and more. Richard Christy is one of my favorites. Some sick drumming on Sound of Perseverance.\../
Amazing. I love that he enjoyed working with Chuck.
Great Video! Very inspirational!! Thanks Richard! Great story!!
How can you not love this dude .super fuckin chill
a calm man a good man a perfect musician and drummer i wish he comes back again to music world
Damn. What a nice guy. Very unassuming. Played in Death. In my opinion he was the best drummer for Death. And he doesn't make a noise about it. Hat's off man.
“Richard Christy talks about being a drummer”:
“In ten years of touring i didn’t get laid once”; aw shucks bruh
Great guy with amazing talent!
That moment when you realize, that Death's drummer in the most of the band's videos, you've rocked out to, is actually Richard Christy.... O_o
I got the luxury to hear Richard Christy play before he made it. He played in a local band called Public Assasin in Springfield MO.
exelente video ...

that dynamo show sounded really good
Sal and Richard are great on Stern. The best part of Sirius for me.
4:30
Sounds like BLEED by MESHUGGAH
Super common, simple herta pattern. (Not that it's easy to play)
.
Hot for teacher
Great drummer!! Got news that he had formed a band & will release music pretty shortly!! & thankfully so!
Underrated is an understatement...
agreed, i love richard on the stern show. He seems like a super cool guy too.
a true inspiration..awesome dude \m/
i love richard, he's one of the best parts of the stern show.
great guy amazing drummer
-->> uno de los mejores bateristas del mundo sin duda alguna!!! aguante Richard!!
4mins 30sec
"bleed" by Meshuggah... i'm not saying that RC copied... it's just nearly the same beat. awesome... one of my favorite drummers...
Real cool and funny guy, awesome drummer of course

Christy made great drum tracks for Death's The Sound of Perseverance. One of my best drummers.
even from where i am ecuador in south america richard inspires lots of drummers including me what he did on death is simply leyendary.
This is the man who cried when Cotton from King of the Hill died. He also was in tears when his goldfish Taco passed away.
its my favorite. (richard's voice)
Great stuff, Talondrummer! I'm already familiar with his recording skills, as I'm also a fan of his band, Forever Shadows.
richard, you are one of my favourite drummers ever. The Sound of Perserverance was fucking incredible :)
I met Richard once when I was a roadie for Incantation. That dude is so fucking awesome!!

such a good drummer, he's in my top 10 for metal. did howard not know who he was? why didn't he push his career?
Howard did a lot of drumming bits with Richard.
He spotlighted his drumming a few times but howard HATES it when his employees find success outside of the show because he believes that is taking away from their concentration on the show and for howard the show comes before everything.
Great great drumme of all time

Richard Christy has it all..fame..hes funny..he has talent..damn you have a charmed life bud
Richard U are my favorite drummer ever !!! Death band
it was your natural environment
Wow 3-4 hours of practice everyday for 23 years
That's less than half the time most people spend working their corporate job. You've got guys like EVH that played the guitar from the moment they woke up till they went to bed.
@@godbelow You realize how much more exhausting practicing drums is compared to guitar right?

I had the luxury to hear Richard play before he made it big. He played in a local band in Springfield Missouri called Public Assasain
at 4:30 he starts playing hertas with his feet. Same rudiment Tomas Haake uses on Bleed
That wound was pretty gnarly
Don't forget one of his very first bands Public Assassin...i know some of those guys personally and i've even hung out with Richard
nice guy,great drummer.
wow i never realized that death concert that i have watched on youtube 100 times had fucking ritchard christey on fucking drums omfg
like at 2:28 etc.
is that on the howard stern show?
best drummer of all time!
2:01 "Leprosy"
We miss you Chuck

Hard to beleive that he would be nervous playing a solo for dream theatre, when he's played in bands those guys are probably afraid of lol
"i got so good because i didn't have all these distractions like.. vagina"
lol that's hillarious, but this guy is a fucking monster behind the kit :D
@thundertower yes.
sadly enough i knew him from the howard stern show..but gaining a whole new respect for him from videos like this..is he compared to larz or better?
that's great that you had fun at the Dynamo gig Richard, because Scott and Shannon looked like they were sleeping.
Sick
