Nah. Most of the negative reviews are from people who never even tried the fragrance. They are just trolls.

Well. I mean fragrances / smells, are subjective at their core. So, objective reviews according to who?
That's a fact of life not only in fragrances.
@@Trax17032Objective review is one that tries to understand, deconstruct and explain the scent, it's composition, profile. It's not just about someone's subjective opinion, because then it's just that - an opinion.
Also it should maintain a constructive level of criticism.
@MrKamillordo So the people who rate a fragrance 10/10 are no better. Did you ever try to constructively criticize a fragrance to a type like that.
I've seen people get called poor by Creed snobs. Not manly enough to wear sweet fragrances. Have amateur noses that simply can't understand the mastery. Etc etc.
It's subjective through and through. If you love a fragrance that I can't stand or vice versa. Criticisms aren't "objective" enough, or me stroking a fragrance as the best ever isn't "objective" enough either.
@@Trax17032 Did I say this is limited to the negative reviews? No, I haven't. I also can appreciate a fragrance for what it does, even if I don't necessarily like it. I am also not one to even write reviews like these, since I don't consider myself well versed enough in this industry to be able to do it fairly.

I stopped reading Fragrantica. Reviews are odd to me and rarely match my thoughts. 🤷♂️

The funny thing is when people review bomb a new release and it’s not even out yet. They leave comments like the ones in this video and haven’t even smelled it yet lol.
Oh man, Centaurus by creed is the recent one that comes to mind. They were destroying it from day 1. Fragrantica shouldn't allow reviews before the fragrance is out.

I use a cologne for two weeks to a month before I make a decision about how much I like it

The type of people who make troll/snobby reviews are the same people who's favorite signature is some hyper obscure scent that everyone hates, like everything made by Toskovat.
The fragrance community is so toxic and full of haters and trolls and it just ruins the experience for the rest of us who just want to connect with each other over a shared interest. It’s pretty sad.
Yes and it’s filled with entirely too many immature teenagers. Colognes are almost like alcohol it takes age and maturity to be able to review them properly and enjoy and appreciate them more. That’s my own opinion.

I recently got my self the PDM layton and its amazing my wife loves it and i love it got 3 compliments at work even from my boss. I spray 2 times and lasted me above 10 hours totally happy with it.

I agree it’s the name. I love royal oud and royal water. They are not worth the price even at discounters sad.
@@Alritealritealrite I mean you could argue its worth as much, because there is a lot of thought put into coming up with the perfume, but yeah, the ingredients costs a fraction of the price. You pay for the idea and for the brand. Kinda like if you eat at a fancy restaurant. The ingredients costs a fraction of the price, but it can still be worth it

My collection finally ended at Terre D’ Hermes Vetiver based fragrances.
I didn’t even know that was the scent that my grandfather and uncles favored. As soon as I smelled TDH Intense Vetiver I was like “AH HA! That’s it. F the sweet bumble gum and vanilla smelling scents dominating the market today!”
PDM Layton to me smells like pain relief cooling gel. Its not bad but its not something I necessarily want to smell like either

Shoutout to Curve! OG Curve DNA is actually super unique.. it was new just when I started getting into fragrances and will always remind me of Jr. High and high school.. used to love late 90s-early 2000s Liz Claiborne fragrances and will still rock them on occasion idgaf lol..

I once received hatred from an acquaintance on Sauvage edt, said that he sold such a full bottle (such a disgusting thing!)😜😝👾 Then he felt from me, all evening he asked "This is Sauvage, right?"🤤 after a while he bought the same, these are people like this... I myself like to read Fragrantica, in different languages - in different languages, different reviews, sometimes very funny👍😁❤️💯

Regarding the PDM Layton;
There is no such word as “sheep’s”
Sheep are sheep no matter the size of the flock.
He must have sniffed it too hard
Of all the fragrances I own, I get the most compliments from PDM fragrances, with Layton easily leading the way. And I get compliments from people who I dont even know, they stop me at the local Wawa or grocery/department store to find out what I am wearing.
Need to get back to roasting our collections ash

But have to agree about PDM Layton. Tried it in niche store and was disappointed. Didn't get where's the internet hype. It really smells like some granny clothes spilled with some milk and caramelized sugar.

ck euphoria is a great and cheap scent i still have in my collection today
Personally I don't really like dior savauge, it smells like metal off of my skin, but my brother wears it and it smells great. Totally get the hype
The Parfum is the version to get. Not metallic like the EDT.
Maybe try the edp. Its a bit more balanced while still retaining the classic Sauvage DNA. Also a massive compliment getter, like any sauvage
I do have to somewhat agree with the BDC EDT smelling a bit like an old man’s fragrance. Not bad by any means, but I understand where the reviewer was coming from because it smelled that way to me as well. I upgraded to the EDP version and I’m enjoying it a lot more 👌
Strongly disagree, I ve been wearing it since I was 20, my brother since he was 16 and we both got compliments with it. It smells fresh and clean, which you can never go wrong with, but also super classy and elegant

Never liked Sauvage. I even tried Carbon by Prada. Didn't like that either.
Here's a hot take Prada L'homme smells like sticking your face in a bucket of baby powder. It's headache inducing.

Man I don't mind Layton's sweetness, I keep getting the Vicks smell the entire time wearing it which is why I don't like it. Luckily it was a sample

Sometimes I wonder if people leave these type of reviews in an attempt to keep the popularity down, this way they won't smell like everyone else? Read reviews with a grain of salt, trust your own nose and sample, and wear whatever you really enjoy smelling. 😀
I had to sell my Bleu De Chanel and Sauvage months after purchase. Didn’t particularly suit my taste.
SUAVAGE EDT Doesn’t smell like curve or montblanc yes too many guys use it but its the best release cologne for the time ,its in my collection i got all edt edp forte PARFUM elixir and elixir is my favorite. And i got niche and designer and the most compliments i ever get and gotten has been on sauvage not creed not mind game o nichane or PARFUM de marly r i got over 200 plus and when i tell you the best compliments i get are from sauvage edt epd and with elixir i get compliments all the time. Doesnt mean I dont get compliments on the other ones i do quite a lot , but the most compliments i gotten its been on the Dior sauvage line. Colognes smell different on people i seen two people wear the same cologne and yet they smell totally different depending on the person.

Dior Sauvage makes me wonder though. Sure it’s the most popular men’s fragrance for a decade now, but what will come after it? It smells so versatible and is so popular, that it seems impossible, that anthing will eventually take over… But we know nothing lasts forever. Kouros was big in the 80s, but it isn’t now. So on that same merit, Sauvage will slowly fade into the background and give place to…
I feel like Sauvage and BDC will dominate for a while. While recent trends are leaning more towards sweet frags, I don't think they could ever overtake those 2, due to not being as versatile. Out of the new ones, YSL Myslf seems to be a massive success though and it does meet the versatility and mass appealing requirements
Regardless of popularity, i guess i am still in the minority who doesn’t enjoy sauvage edt, i still prefer bleu edp
bleu edp is a better frag tbh, but Sauvage is still solid and a great dumb reach. It also gets more compliments, though that may be due to the better projection

Yeah, if anything, its criticism is being too strong and too in your face. I know it gets a bit of a bad rep because many people overspray it and then everyone in the room can smell it
Creed Aventus. I'm about 4 months into the fragrance game and tried C.A. samples 4 times and each time it just smelled like a bottle of Pine Sol on steroids. I don't get the hype.
to me it smells like a hotel room in heaven. I blind bought which i 100% shouldn't have done but it's now the best fragrance in my collection

Guys, what would you say is a budget starting fragrance in vetiver?
Niche fragrances are a coin toss for me except the coin lands like 90% of the time on the godawful bad smelling side. I've tried dozens, but I've only ever liked 3. Hombre leather by tom ford, Althair pdm, and Green Irish Tweed.
Go for the more mass appealing niche brands, I don't like the super niche ones either

I dont know if it’s just my nose or my personal taste but I found parfums de Marley is just okay. I tried it on skin and the smell was gone in an hour or so. Has anyone else experienced this?
No. Even the likes of Sedley or Greenley lasted a solid 5 hours for me and I have relatively dry skin
I think Spice Bomb Dark Leather will be panned at first but as time goes on people will go on to love it and it becomes a permanent staple to the line.
See you in a few years for all the bad reviews Dark Leather got before blowing up in popularity.

I'm going to have to be honest. And I know a lot of people for sure on here ain't going to hear it. But I own Bleu de Chanel toilet and parfum. Parfum is a lil bit better.
I'll disagree that they smell like an old man. Because they smell like an old lady. But them both from Dillard's. Haven't brought them back, because sometimes I used the parfum to blend with other things. But all in all, they are awful lol.
