I love this guy! I'm a communications major and a couple years ago I ha a mental health crisis and realized my job, my family and my friends were all neglectful, abusive, and causing all my stress. I could not communicate properly any more , I just disconnected with them all and found a new job that I'm very happy with. My therapist kept telling me why are you not communicating with them?. I guess because gas lighting and head games just made me feel it wasn't going to change anything. Now I'm in a new beginning in life and these videos are really helping me when I meet new people .

God bless you and your success!
As a kid I had parents in alcohol treatment and had to go to an experiment called "al-atot", a support group for elementary kids like us. Their 1st rule spoken at every meeting was:
      "Keep yourself safe."
I see you as doing that - keeping yourself safe and sane. More power to you.
It's heartbreaking when family is more destructive than reliably supportive but I hope in your healing and acceptance that eventually you can forgive them even though forgiveness doesn't habe to equal reconciliation. That you can forgive from a safe distance - for you.
Cheering for the challenge of your new life. Impressed amd inspired by your sense of responsibility to handle it so well.

@@bugsea54 many congratutions on the changes you are making to better your life by taking responsibility for it. ✨️ Wise, mature decisions can come at tough costs... but the positive network of support you are clearly capable of building for yourself thrives on opportunities to champion you and your goals. Everybody wants the best for you, even enemies (because you bother them less when you're busy enjoying yourself), but only people who love you aren't willing to accept anything less. Congratulations on becoming a person who loves you and simply won't tolerate any less than the best for yourself. Phew! Good on you!

Listening to this is balm to my soul.
I taught my children to nip gossip in the bud by saying, "Have you talked to (whomever they're backstabbing) about it?" And never to say anything about someone which you wouldn't say in front of them.
I love your words that you will be letting the person know what was said about them. And saying what you know and don't know about it all.
Talking about people behind their backs destroys reputations and relationships.

I found you over a year ago and started listening because I’ve experienced these kind of situations so many times in the past… fast-forward two years later these videos are so applicable with my current workplace it’s not even funny…. I’ve been pushed into a management/HR role with no training mentoring support and no real experience to go off of… it’s been difficult not only because I am trying my best to figure something brand new out and recognizing where I can improve and be better for myself and my team but also having a handful of very resistant and argumentative types of people on this team that have been able to get away with whatever they want for the last three years before me. Anyways all that being said this channel and your videos help me so much!! Thank you!

And when then asked what they are on about they say they shouldn't be involved. So why did they open their big mouth to create? Because they are a "toxic back stabber!" At work I have been a witness to someone equal to me, agree to help with our supervisors paperwork. Supervisor leaves. Night shift supervisor walks in. That equal that agreed to help with supervisor paperwork complain about our supervisor to the nightshift supervisor. Extremely uncomfortable for me to witness. I heard everything. But kept my nose down on my paperwork. The nightshift supervisor supported our supervisor, thank goodness. This equal is so toxic. I told my supervisor what she did to her behind her back. And my equal refers to themselves in the third person in all conversations. Super odd. The general consensus is this person is vying for our supervisors position and usurps their authority and tattles on her and others based on her "name here, is a rule follower". We are all like over here actually working and our equal is usurping and walking off the job on the constant, avoiding work and whispering into upper management ears. I'm putting in my two weeks. Just done with this person.

  • @belssage

I was in management 20 years. Seven years of management education (not 'training') prior to managing. I began as Team Leader moved on to Shift Supervisor then Manager. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was to politely interrupt an employee when they wanted to complain to remind them of this, "Remember, before you say anything about a co-worker ask yourself if, "Are they going against the mission statement?", "Are they impeding my ability to do my job?", "Are they harming a guest/patron/customer/client?", "Are they committing a crime?", "Are they making a mistake?"
No? Then the comment has no place at work. No gossiping, no hate comments, no problem.

I appreciate this, I need to practice the ‘I don’t know/I do know’. In the example with the folder & server, I would adjust my wording from ‘I’m sorry it wasn’t clear’ to, ‘thank you for providing me the opportunity to clarify’.

Recent dealt with a work environment where everyone said such awful things about each other behind their backs. Then would be nice working alongside the next day.
It made me SO UNCOMFORTABLE!! Have never dealt with that before & dealing with that is beyond my current social skills. Then when people try to constantly rope you in when you say, "you know, i really try to not talk about people..." and they keep on, its So uncomfortable.
People are so innapropriate + channel their insecurities in the worst ways that dont serve Anyone. They just wanna cause chaos & hurt.

And sometimes when you assert yourself there is an awkwardness. However, it's worth it, to maintain your integrity, and it sounds to me as though you want to maintain your integrity and your kindness, rather than be complicit in gossip.

Gossips are the worst! People seem to use gossip as social lubricant and/or social commodity. It urkes me to no end! It is so terrible to hear such negative, harmful, personal, and private information banned about like a wiffle ball on a pickle ball court. Often times, the subject has -0- idea because gossips are cowards!

Dan, you are brilliant and bright! I get such a kick out of your quick wit and humor. You seem genuine.
I'm working on watching your informative, helpful videos back to back. I've experienced many people in the past and present who exhibit toxic behaviors, sadly now with a new roommate.
I practice being a person of integrity and treat people with kindness, so like to watch your videos because they help me respect others while stating my boundaries in a clear concise way, without reacting, just responding.
I truly thank you for your great service and feel positive that there are many others who do too.
    Keep up the good work!
