I know that the political spectrum is convoluted and with all kinds of jibber jabber of this party was that and that party was this and the historic reference of things vs modern day definitions. It can also be oversimplified as in the case of Fascists and NAZIs were way on the right side and communist and dare I say that naughty word, socialists were extreme far left. The terms left wing and right wing dates back to the French revolution at the end of the 18th century, France was the first country that tried to emulate US democracy as a new democratic republic after the overthrow of their monarchy. The separate wings referred to the seating arrangement of each political side of the French parliament. Those who sat on the right of the presiding officer were conservatives in support of the institutions of the original monarchy. Those on the left were were the revolutionaries who ousted the king and ushered in the new French democratic republic for social equality in the new secular society.
The 1930s saw conservative Germans who were the bourgeoisie groups that lived well under a Kaiser monarchy, look down on the deplorables led by Hitler and his thugs that were now starting to gain political clout, but make no mistake, they weren't liberals, that group were anarchists with intent of autocratic authoritarian control.
So, with the knowledge that right wing means you are in support of creating and living under a monarchy that would abolish societal equality in our established democratic republic, WHY on Earth would you purposely call yourself a "rightie"?

The freedom of speech doesn't apply to privately owned media. It actually only applies to this nation and the right to speak out in public spaces, but private media absolutely has the right not to let you use their platforms for whatever reason. The internet is not playing by the same rules as American constitutional freedoms, it's a worldwide community that is allowed to dictate its own rules of morality.

If Trump is convicted in the Senate, he would be disqualified from ever holding any federal office again. In addition, I think that it would be within the Senate's power to revoke any presidential pension benefits, in the same way that in many states a convicted felon can no longer vote.

My friends were in the construction business in the 80's . They told me about Trump many years ago. Trump would commission millions of dollars in work , refuse to pay, until the vendors had to sue him. Trump then would counter sue and claim bad workmanship. The contractors would be forced to settle for pennies on the dollar if they got paid at all. This is how he operated for years and when even didn't work he would just file another bankruptcy

An uncle I have also told me how Trump hired illegal immigrants at his Palos Verdes Trump golf course. One got seriously injured lost his hand working with machinery that they would not fix and knew needed repairs even after him telling them multiple times, machinery was defective. They fired the immigrant and basically won the lawsuit, Trump only had to pay for medical expenses. Never mind the man will never be able to work in his craft again.

Trump once swiped all the stuff he liked from the ambassador's home in France, I believe it was. He had it all shipped to himself in DC, art objects and such. Thought he had original items, though they were copies, and also justified having done so by saying that these things all belonged to the US government, "so it's mine". What an ass.

If anyone believed McConnell was going to have the trial for impeachment before January 20th, they are quite literally Charlie Brown thinking Lucy was going to seriously hold that football still this time.
Love Seth, but he and his team have overlooked an important point. McConnell wants to wait until the Dems control the Senate before calling the vote. It will only bring 2 more votes, but then they'll need just 15 Republicans, not 17, to support the motion. McConnell is trying to get the best possible chance of an impeachment certification.

What scares me is if we don't convict and never allowing him to run for public office. Hitler did this long ago and he got a slap on the wrist and then came back stronger. We need to hold him and the others that aided in this attack (the members of congress giving tours the day before) on our democracy accountable and not be lenient. Right, left, or center, we all should be supporting this aspect of it. Yes Trump did it, what if Obama or Hillary did it? Point is it shouldn't matter who they are, who supports them, or what side of the isle they are on.
Attacking our Constitutional Rights, democracy, and our Capitol should be prosecuted to the fullest extent our law allows.

I’m a middle aged white guy from NY, so of course I relate to every moment of every episode. But, I still struggle to figure out how this writing teams nails every Closer Look. The transitional statements, that can easily be glossed over are dead on, always. I find myself pausing in the middle because I am laughing (“third grade ashtray” this episode), and do not want to miss the next sentence. While zero people will be reading this, I feel better being able to verbalize this.
This needs to be mandatory viewing for future history classes about this time period! 😂
I don't know how you get to be a grown-ass adult and not see the irony and hypocrisy in wearing something that says "censored" while you're giving a publicly accessible statement in front of all of Congress (or the Senate), that's televised for the entire country to see. You aren't being censored if everyone can hear you.

A gun is a tool. Like any tool, it can be abused. I was into forensics as a kid. Tire irons, crowbars, baseball bats, sharp pointy objects, and even pantyhose can be used to harm others.

As a female I have read a few stories where a gun saved innocent lives.
Heck, sometimes when in danger, the best thing to do is just flash your weapon at those threatening you.
Especially when your a lone female being threatened with rape.
Unlike in movies, most saner attackers will back off when they see that.
