Pretty much in a nutshell Disney is having all of their companies do a quantity over quality plan since their pumping out movies and shows like it’s an assembly line and their no longer focused on telling actual good stories. Pretty much their focused on making crowd pleaser/dumb fun films.

I agree. Phase 4 is just too overwhelming. There’s too much going on all at once between the movies and the shows, but at the same time there’s next to no major overarching plot progression. I’ve only seen a few of the projects in phase 4 because at this point it’s pretty much entirely lost my interest. I agree. Phase 4 is really overwhelming. As much as I love the MCU, it’s definitely getting out of hand in terms of production due to the VFX artists speaking up about it, too much content releasing, a lack of direction, lack of quality, oversaturation, I could go on. I really do hope the next Phase can address these issues and improve the quality in terms of the narrative of each movie. It didn't feel like a marvel movie at this point. I would have been fine with a more fledged out fight with his father l because that was the story that mattered. Who cares about some dragon side villain? They are trying too hard to have so much in their movies; it takes away from what matters. Sometimes, what is simpler, is actually better.

I'm mostly sad that they're pumping these movies and shows out so fast. Everything feels rushed and unable to reach its full potential. It's becoming glaringly obvious in the quality of VFX and the scripts. Sadly this probably isn't going to change given the insane amount of money the MCU's making throwing content out like this, even if it means sacrificing what could be really great stories given the time and investment in talent.

I personally think that the MCU is slowly beginning to run out on its course. I mean I think it's about time that all good things must come to an end at some point. Sure a phase 5 has been confirmed but who else do you think is going to hold up the MCU now that our main heroes are gone or retired? The Young Avengers? The X-Men? Fantastic 4?
Knowledge Hub has made a video about the predicting the downfall of superhero movies in general and concluded that Avengers endgame would be a catalyst to this downfall.
As for DC, the Snyder verse is said to be coming to a close because of individuals like Erza Miller. I don't know what The Flash or Black Adam would bring but all I know is that the DCEU is currently in a worser spot than Marvel and may be subject to a massive overhaul.

  • @YuriAmericanHero

Have to disagree with Shang-Chi. Destin Daniel Cretton did a great job with telling us a story of a new character that most people never heard of. It felt like the Chinese version of Black Panther’s African esthetic. And you can see some of the kung fu elements that inspired it. As with the rest of phase 4? Yeah, terrible. WandaVision started off unique and beautiful, same as Moon Knight, but you could see they didn’t have faith in the writers and directors and had to MCU-ify it. No Way Home is also the only exception, although it’s mostly a Sony product, and the best one at that. But I guess Disney can’t help but fatigue everything it touches, Star Wars and Marcel just won’t be that special anymore since they’re not made with love and hundreds of hours and passion poured into it, but instead just products that need to keep being pumped out.

I literally just watched Doctor Strange from 2016 for the second time! To be honest, I still don't know much about Marvel's mystic side enough to warrant a second watch for Easter Eggs but after watching it, it made me really sad that the sequel to the 2016 flick was Multiverse of Madness.
It's too bad that we didn't get a Doctor Strange sequel before Infinity War, I really think that Doctor Strange works best as a series of self contained stories...there's so much interesting stories that was established in 2016 Doctor Strange with dimensions (previously called multiverses) and Mordor as his motives aren't evil but I guess since Wong is now a big part of the MCU, I don't expect to see Mordor coming back as Strange's partner.
Just seems that the events of Infinity War and the blip radically changed what we were supposed to get for Doctor Strange movies.

It made me feel that thing your stomach that makes you want to scream, like the moment captain America held thor's hammer. When he said avengers assemble, When iron man said I am iron man and did the snap! It was stuff like those moments I could feel myself so happy I cried. And now I can't help, but feel happy that Iron Man, Captain America and black widow are dead now. They keep making the og characters especially the males dumb idiots next to their female replacements. The story is everywere. The characters are very two dimensional. I don't feel attached or even want to know them. As far as i see It. To me it ended at end game. Like naruto shippuden should of ended after sasuke and naruto's final battle! Now it's ruined. Just like star wars. I grew up with star wars. I watched the old saga when I was a child on VHS. So yeah that's ruined too. And I'm honestly really upset :( seems like all the stuff I grew up with and truly loved has gone to woke shit. They don't care about true fans who have been with it for ever. It’s just oversaturation and burnout. After Endgame they should have taken a long break, maybe not release the next movie until 2023 so the movies would line back up with the current timeline of the universe. Or if they HAD to capitalize on the franchise’s popularity just do one movie per year for a few years. No shows. (I know they didn’t release anything in 2020 but that wasn’t part of their plan. They absolutely would have if they pandemic didn’t happen.)

How can you love the first Avengers and the show Disney calls Loki? Loki in Avengers was a great character, a guy you love to hate, Loki in Loki is a mess. Loki transforms into a completely different character in a few hours, it was like Darth Vader turning to the good side the moment he realises Luke is his son. And you say Wandavision crashed in the final episodes, but you like Falcon and the Wintersoldier? Falcon and the Wintersoldier went off the rails a lot sooner than the final episodes, what was that show even about? At the end of Endgame you see Falcon getting the shield from Cap, and it seems like Falcon and the Wintersoldier was a 6-hour-version of that scene... take the shield... I don't want it... take the shield... I'am not worthy... take the shield...stop asking me... take the shield... okay I'll take it. The world had to accept Falcon as the new Cap, so they needed that show. I still think it is stupid to make Falcon the new Cap, Falcon is Falcon, but Disney will be bringing back a version of Ironman too, because... they do not have enough characters in the MCU?

I'm glad Sony has somewhat independence from Disney's studios so they aren't as much "assembly line mode", which is what Disney has been doing for a really long time now. It’s had it’s day. It had it’s zeitgeist moment, around the time of Infinity War. Even if they had maintained the quality (which they haven’t) it still would’ve been on a downward trajectory. That’s how culture works.
After being a pretty keen infinity saga fan, I now can’t even pretend to be interested in anything coming out. A lot of those early phase movies also relied on charismatic stars and their interactions, like Downey Jr, Evans, and ScaJo. Great video! I agree, the MCU is in a very tough spot right now and I'm extremely worried about the future. Not only is Pjhase 4 extremely oversaturated, but it seems like Marvel doesn't exactly know how all of this tie in together in the future. Phase 4 is introducing way too many ideas and concepts that will not benefit them in their favor. The only thing that I thought connected beautifully was Yelena's appearance in hawkeye, but that was at an extremely small scale. Right now we have some magical rings which apparently serve as a beacon, a new mysterious realm of monsters where Shang-Chi's mother is, celestials, the TVA, Egyptian gods, whatever the hell the realm is in Ms Marvel, and a character that can pretty much open portals to any universe. Wtf

  • @RoyalKingOliver
    @RoyalKingOliver 2 года назад +6

To me what I hate about Phase 4 is just how much every single project has to make heavy leaps in order to tie in to the MCU.
Most of these projects are spin-offs from previous franchises. And none of them are really good outside of Spiderman.
The movies that do stand out, wether good or bad, are the origin movies. Shang Chi, The Eternals, Moon Knight and Ms Marvel are all original projects that didn’t do too much work in order to tie itself in, because it didn’t need to.
And I love all of them (except for Eternals cause… duh) with Moon Knight and Ms Marvel being my favorites for just not repeating the same tropes and mcuisms the studio has been doing for the past 10 years.
And to be more specific, the reason to me why fans and critics actually liked Ms Marvel and were genuinely surprised by how good it is was because it literally did basic superhero story tropes and just owning them. People who say it’s generic don’t realize that yes, they’re the same tropes, but in context where for 10 years now the MCU has been constantly ignoring/avoiding these basic tropes. Ms Marvel stood out for just doing the ordinary.
And that to me is what makes me sad about Phase 4. They’re trying way too hard or way too little when they can just go back to the basics or experiment on new ideas.

But yeah aside from No Way Home and Wandavision (yes even the later episodes), Phase 4 has been very sloppy in my opinion. The continuity is really messy now, and there just isn't a clear through line like in previous phases. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with phase 4. I think people just have their expectations way too high, and they’re not liking the new changes that Disney is taking.
This phase is different than all the other ones, and that pisses people off. This one doesn’t have a big badie , each one feels like its own singular storyline, but if you look at the bigger picture you can see how they’re all connected.

The only thing that changed was die hard MCU fans perception. The Infinity Saga movies didn't add up at all until Thanos. Even though Thanos origin and who he was, never explained. Funny how Phase 4 is more of it. But MCU popped their cherry early and rushed everything. Fox owns the rights to XMEN until 2025. Disney made phase 1-4 all filler. When Xmen arrives and another reboot. Kevin Feige is overrrated and ego driven about content he never knew about. Crazy to think he never read Marvel comics yet hes in charge of Disney Marvel projects.

As of now it dosent look like it since there are no avengers or seemingly big team up movies until the kang dynasty. The whole start of this saga feels very confused with too much content

I feel the same when I watch these MCU movies. I was born when the MCU started. Which is why it hurts me seeing how the MCU is going down in a downward spiral. No Way Home stopped the MCU from going into a downward spiral. But it only paused it for the time it was out. Once No Way Home's story was looked at the downward spiral was starting once again. And after the Spider-Man phase the MCU has gown back down into a downward spiral. It's even worse now. I remembered when i first saw The Avengers movie. I don't remember anything behind it. But I just feel like I'm being disappointed everytime a MCU movie or show just flops. Bad character writing, messaging, etc. It just. Really disappoints me at the MCU's failure. After Endgame things could have gotten better. But it got worse.
I remember when phase 4 was starting and whenever I saw a movie, or the shows. I was excited. I had no doubt the movie or show would be good. But now. I can't go into a marvel show without thinking that it's going to be bad. The LAST MCU movie that I truly went in with high hopes was Moon Knight. I liked it. But seeing other people's opinions. Yeah. The show's not good. After that I've never given anything that Disney makes any chance of hope that I used to give. I just can't wait until the MCU just dies. I know I shouldn't be thinking that. But the MCU has only one. ONE good movie in phase 4 was No Way Home. And even that was bad when you look at it carefully. This almost feels like my own writing. I'm saying almost.
It's just that I KNOW what I'm doing. The plots are wonky on each book. But I have SOMETHING. They are just drafts. I just either hope that the MCU gets better or that it just dies.
    (Sighs) Til all are one.

@@jeffreyquinde6707 At the end of the film Peter Parker agrees to have the memory of him erased from everyone’s minds so they don’t remember he is Spider-man, but they show earlier that the school made an entire section dedicated to Peter being Spider-man. The spell only erased people’s memory, but there’s countless media and content that has been made about Peter being Spider-man so it wouldn’t make it all go away, that’s a flaw. Also, they say how those who know Peter Parker is Spider-man are ones who come into the portal while Electro did not know who Peter Parker was, and they’re missing characters who did know Peter was Spider-man. There’s plenty of other plot holes, but I don’t blame anyone for not being annoyed by these plot holes it is just a dumb fun superhero film. I just did not like the writing and thought it was sloppy. I personally hated the contrived “Fix anything” machine from Tony Stark that just turned all the villains into good guys and fixed their “evilness” I really hated that whole plot line. It would’ve worked if Peter wanted that to work because he’s just a kid and he thinks that anyone can be redeemed but it backfired and he learns that you can’t always save everyone, but somehow it just works and the bad guys become good? It was just too stupid for me and it didn’t work. Like I said, felt like a good fanfiction that needed a couple more drafts. Still enjoyed it for what it is.

Marvel currently as phase 4 wraps up is definitely experiencing major whiplash. The MCU definitely climbed it's biggest mountain with end game and I don't think the MCU will really be the same. Apart of the me wants to see what wacky thing the mcu will come up with next but at the same time end game was called "end game" because many like myself assumed that it would be the end of the mcu. I wouldn't mind continuations with solo stories but it shouldn't be really forced into as tv shows and instead be just movies still and be more spread out. These shows and movies really feel like they are just trying way to hard to be connected and set things up that they are just bad overall. I noticed this in all of phase 4 mcu movies and it really bogs down the story in all of them. You can tell there were alot of things forced just to set up for the next sequal which I just hate. The thing about previous marvel movies is that you can watch anything and won't really need context to watch the next one. Like you can technically skip all the phase one mcu movies and you would still have a fun time with avengers. You don't feel trapped having to boringly watch every mcu project just to make sense of everything. Heck you don't even need to really watch GOG 1 to understand GOG 2. The mcu really needs to step back and not think about connecting shit rn and instead let the audience just enjoy good solo movies. As well in "Movies." Idk if it is just me but I feel like in general the mcu doesn't really fit in a tv show format. Maybe if they completely leave the mcu format out of the shows i may like it more but in general those shows need more identity and focus on solo characters. Hi welcome to my ted talk

You do make a lot of good points but you contradict yourself a lot by saying that none of phase 4 movies don't connect to anything but neither did the first phases until the first avengers bc they are setting up the heros and giving them character development and just introducing us to these heroes we will come to love later down the line the same way the first phases did. I can agree with you about movies like black widow and eternals they were not that great of movies but the new phase is doing the same thing ant man did bc they might not play a role now, but later until the avengers movie or even before they will have a bigger role, and me personally like the direction they are heading which is different hero settings like the cosmic heros or our street level heroes and now our supernatural like moonknight and blade etc. Overall you are entitled to your own opinion but me personally marvel is doing good and people should just like the movies for what they are like the original phase. But this is coming from a guy who enjoyed shang chi and moon knight bc they are not really connected but will soon be, and also directors can make amazing movies and then make terrible movies not everything is for everyone for example Thor Ragnarok and Thor love and thunder which I also liked but not everyone enjoyed that movie but this is just my opinion and I respect yours so good day

But the rest are just... Bleh. Both in terms of Potential and Writing. I can personally chalk it up to Too much being announced. Ever since the Investor Day call, When Disney made Marvel And Star Wars blow their load on content, A dozen Disney Plus shows were announced. A year later, And I'm kinda hoping some of them get The chopping block. If Marvel Stuck with "2 Movies-2 Shows a year" Schedule to let Each Project get Proper Polish, (Ms Marvel and Moon Knight especially needed a Phase 5 release. the VFX need Repair. Badly.) Pick the Shows Sparingly to see which one Fits into the Wider MCU story, As well as in need of An Avengers movie announced at The End of The Comic Con '19 announcement, Phase 4 would have been over at this point and wouldn't feel... Well, Bloated.
