SAO is a confined world, yeah it is massive but it will feel really confined after a while, SAO also has a fraction of the amount of items in Yggdrasil, in both playing and teleporting to both worlds, Yggdrasil easily takes the cake
May I ask if ainz will find the reason why he turned into a lich because it feels funny why was he chosen to be transported to world similar to his game
@@hyjjjkyikk3158 wdym the reason why he turned into a lich? That was his in-game avatar all along. He wasn't transported to a world similar to the game, instead the world was directly influenced by the game because of Wild Magic.
I think half the reason people think Ainz is dumb is due to Ainz thinking himself to be dumb, and since we read so many of his inner-monologues, its easy to start perceiving him the way he perceives himself.
The real thing is... Ainz put himself against people who have BY LORE a 5 digits IQ. Of course he thinks himself as an idiot, he is a smart PERSON in the context of a normal salary man. Yet, he manage to be extremely smart and, sometimes by luck, sometimes by flash of genius, make everything run in his favor. Also, he is slowly managing to create a perfectly functioning empire even if he never studied politics. He is just smart AF, but he compares himself to someone nobody could reach
@@micheledelloglio5820 But he does also make rather silly mistakes at times as well. Not realising that the deathknights (that died at the exact same time mind you) MIGHT have fallen into the abyss with 25+ dead enemies around, a ruined bridge and no signs of fighting on the other side of the bridge.... That..wasn't very smart. But it is believeable. He WANTS to meet more powerful people, he is aware of previous cases of players and he himself was personally transported into the world so assuming there might be a player around isn't that bad...but..he lets his own cautioness and believes overshadow the real answer at times and that is a bit stupid. He most certainly aint dumb though. He seems way above norm in a lot of things but he does come up with some really silly ideas at times or completly misunderstadning situations.
When you actually put things in perspective, you realize why Ainz, being OP as he is, still acted through the early arcs carefully. I mean, you just got transported to a completely different world, with no knowledge whatsoever about geopolitics, the power of the New World denizens or what else got transported also, like World Itens or even players. Knowing how much the NPCs his friends created mean to him, it's only logical he wouldn't immediately do anything that puts him or his subordinates on the spotlight, gathering information enough until he can actually stop doing things behind the scenes and acting on the front. My man bone daddy is a strategist beast, absolute master mind. Sasuga Ainz-sama 💀 /🩻\ / \
That's also a great way to show how intelligent the MC really is. Other isekai drop their MC in the middle of nowhere, sometimes a predicament, then get the world explained to them by the first person they encounter who happens to also know how to fight. Momonga, on the other hand, explored every nook and cranny and is the first to deduce that they've been transported elsewhere and just had his subordinates confirm it. Then, he actively explored the world's mechanics by trial and error as well as observation. He keep doing this throughout the series and was the least arrogant individual even as the leader of a guild full of powerful beings. Truly magnificent for a battle tactician like him.
Years of strategising against top players and guilds turned him into a great strategist. But he's not that good at grand strategy. But he's really good at destroying individuals or organisations and also running an organisation.
His caution is a facet of his character that stays consistent across the show. He both covets and dreads coming across another player because they'd likely be on an even playing field with him and ever since someone brain washed Shalltear he is very wary of sending anyone on missions, specially alone. Just look at how worried he is when Albedo leaves for her mission in season IV, going as far as to gift her a world level anti mind control item and commanding her to not let go of it no matter what. It ocasionally shows as a weakness, clouding his judgement and slowing him down or risking embarrasing him in front of the Floor Guardians, but when the lives of his family are on the line, I'd say Ainz can afford to be overly cautious.
@@axios4702 About the Ginnungagap World Item Albedo has (the little black staff with the floating ball), he didn't gave it to her. In the LN, prior the server shutdown, Ainz noticed when he sat at the throne that, before leaving the game, Tabula Smaragdina gave Albedo that item without telling or asking permission to anyone. Since the game was already to be shutdown Momonga accepted the action of his friend and Albedo holds the item ever since. Unfortunately that never gets really explained in the show.
Fun fact: Ainz was part of the "No Cash Item Team" group in the guild along side Peroroncino that had the rule of never using a cash shop item, until this later betrayed Ainz by using a cash shop item to mimic Touch Me's sparkling effect
@@mahistv To say a few things myself: Some of your points are really good like Albedo and her emotions or the barkeeper but I need to correct/clarify a few things: 1. Ainz is not smart, intelligent or brilliant ... he is simply below average in terms of intelligence (not completely dumb or an idiot). BUT he is something thats quite important: he is in his own areas competent. Even the strats and tactics he is using are just like his salesman attitude simply from training and repeating things and even then it took him quite some time. (Funny enough that this is basically contradicting something the show often states: "No amount of effort can surpass talent and people without talent cant reach the same place as the one with it.) But his knowledge in term of Yggrasil is most likely unparalleled and because of his salesman attitude and therefore knowing how to interact with people if they fit a certain shema, he can control the conversation somewhat. Also he is an incredible hard worker which is seen how he practiced some lines and how he should act as an evil Overlord. His lower self-estem is in part even quite reasonable even though his cautiones in combination with that is close to paranoia. But even that has a good thing: He never overestimates himself or Nazarick and doesnt grow too arrogant. He know he isnt special and that is also the reason why Nazarick can expand like that without real damage. (Also because he knows that he needs to delegate the stuff to the competent people and that he needs talents so that his guardians are not overwhelmed and things can run smoothly whatever happens. Because he knows how bad/troublesome it is if an incompetent superior influences badly and ruins things.) Besides his concluding that a third Party is involved is also something he knows is a proven strategy. (Most likely used in the game too) Also that Gazef is the target was because of simpel elimination of reasons: is the remote Village important? No. He himself known and/or feared? really unlikely. Famous Warrior Captain that even such a remote village knows about? The last possible option and therefore the most likely reason. PS: Remember that he only has elementary school level education and even if people explain him things in the most basic form and him reading up on stuff, he cant comprehend a single thing. 2. Yggdrasil wasnt exactly P2W because it has much other problems in terms of balancing. Namely some character builds are so broken and using exploits that are simply unfair. For example Touch Me was like the other "world champions" so broken that you couldnt win against him without having this build yourself or some really broken world items. I mean some World Items would allow you to change (if just temporary but still) the game and its rules/code ... like deleting all Holy Spells from the game. Everyone without a world Item would be 100% affected if they want it or not. 2 things that outclass any payshop items by far. 3. Albedos strikeforce ..... it wasnt just made to kill players. it was made to kill supreme beeings and Nazarick just calls its 41 Members Supreme Beeings. Ergo Albedo is out murdering Ainz old comrades, so that he can rule absolut over everything, because she knows that they are basically his weekness and that Ainz/Momonga would either rule together with them or let them rule. Something Albedo cant accept. Albedo hates and loathes the members who left Nazarick and Momonga behind. Even her own creator.
Ainz was the smartest isekai mc. When first come to the new world the first thing he fear was his own npc attacking him, so to makes sure his safety he bought his strongest equipment, demonstrate his power (infront of aura and mare), and show them his superiority with despair aura while ask them about their loyalty. All of it just a precaution in case his npc betray him. And unlike every other Isekai MC who charge in at the first day, Ainz spent weeks in nazarick first and fortify it as best as he can since he didn't had any information about outside world, and when he finnaly decide to go outside he bought Albedo the greatest defender of all NPC in full gear as his shield. And all of the bad event actually happen bcs his floor guardian neglecting his order, like how shaltear got caught since she abandon her guard and playing with her target, or how sebas decide to blow up cover by saving tuarre. And fun detail i like about blody valkyrie arc was the reason Ainz bought albedo to treasure room was so he can confince albedo to hold other guardian floor action so he can fight shaltear alone. Ainz knows if he arguing with demiurge he will loss, since Albedo hold the highest rank in floor guardian no one would dare questioning her
Ainz over all grasp of his situation stems from running the guild, game mechanics and understanding of everything in nazarik is simply god tier in forethought. Where as I see rimaru's diplomacy is stemmed from his life as senior office worker and understanding of people as a whole. But what really sets him apart is his imagination and common sense is God tier. I can't wait to see how both end but I'll be sad when it's over.
@@folmhaigh039 Yes i agree that Rimuru was one of the smartest, but imo heis too naive and fortunately the isekai he lives was forgiving. If he had the same atitude but he lives in overlord world people like Jirvnic, Slane theocracy and even Renner and his brother might use him.
@@andraakmalmaulidani1793 he was at first but unlike Ainz he had to level up, he didn't start at level 100+ with the int bonus and all that, if he were to start at his endgame like Ainz he probably would be similar when dropped into the world, it's not quite a fair comparison
Ainz is actually smart because his character build had maxed out intelligence stats which influences his decision making in the new world unbeknownst to him.
@@mahistv after witnessing Ainz's complete victory over Shalltear he stopped doubting how Ainz plans and immediately assumes he has complete control over everything and plays 10thousand steps ahead of everyone
I think the reason why ainz keeps making un moral decisions is due to his intelligence stats. I hope we get an arc where he realizes that and experiences existential dread
no no. this is just a mere theory, cause the author himself haven't stated anything like this. don't you say stuff like this as if it IS actually implemented by the author himself, you just gonna misslead everyone
Damn! Actually when I read Albedo's charecter sheet I contemplated for so long whether those were her crocodile tears. But now this piece of puzzle has finally come together. It all makes sense now. She has seen all of them leave, unlike others. She'd really been through the worst of it.
@@mahistv Naturally. Neither the show nor the LN really rubs your face in the fact that the NPC's have years of experience just robotically following their standing orders in Yggdrasil Online. They may not have been intelligent beings capable of processing the grief at their creators leaving and never coming back at the time, but after the transfer to the New World, they are exactly that, and they still have that experience. In a way, Albedo has it even worse in that particular situation, because she's processing years of separation trauma (and most likely boredom) in the course of like a week.
@@mahistv To add to what you said, the NPCs are creations. "made to serve" so to speak. you even hear demiurge saying that their purpose is to serve and if they won't then they don't deserve to live. Imagen the existential crisis that all the NPCs would go through if Ainz was not around.
I'm surprised to see I'm the only one that didn't bat an eye lid at the scene. The way they all treat Ainz and talk about the Supreme Beings showed they were aware to a degree long before being Isekai'd. And its not hard to imagine what they went through, how would you feel if your father walked out the door one day and was never seen again? Now imagine your dad is God.
the reason people think ainz is less than intelligent is mostly because he is constantly playing catch up to demiurge when it comes to his plans. in that while ainz has made a decent plan with a good chance of success demiurge pipes up and starts going off on how that plan is the latest in a long string of carefully planned out moves made by ainz each second. essentially he gets so over hyped by his guardians/children that "ainz sama" and ainz are on entirely different levels.
@@mahistv Well news is that former Princess Renner thinks the same way too now. Ainz personally performing that “silly play” destroyed her plans of coasting off of Albedo’s friendship(Albedo no longer likes her) and only showing her true potential when she wants a promotion. She thinks Ainz is not only a military might, but a plotting master.
I agreee. no matter how intelligent you are. if you have to compete with an absolute mastermind like demiurge, you will look dumb. add to it that Ainz doesn't want to disappoint the points of view of his guardians since Albedo and Demiurge are always overplotting and see Ainz as the supreme being. Ainz plans are good. far better than average. but they can't compare to what Demiurge can plan ahead. on the other side, Ainz can surpass Demiurge (or any other guardian) in some other areas of skill.
I like the fact you said that the dude with magic item affinity is not dumb enough to try to kill bone daddy but in the novel when his grandma and him first heard of momon they plan to coerce him
Yeah, Ainz isn't stupid at all - he's just got extremely low self-esteem, which gets reinforced every time he recognizes somebody being intelligent in a way that he isn't or *thinks* he isn't. But the guy literally has a ton of smarts. He's memorized every single spell from Yggdrasil (over 700) including everything about each of those spells. He's memorized pretty much everything about all the NPCs in Nazarick. He's got some really dang good battle tactics, which he used to defeat Shalltear despite her character build being massively better than his because he's a build for role playing rather than with a tactical focus. And he's actually adapting to everything about the new world insanely quickly. If he didn't have that low self-esteem, he'd be confident enough to ask questions for clarity when someone says something he doesn't understand. And, because he actually is smart, he'd end up shoring up any and all areas where his knowledge and experience are lacking. Even with the low self-esteem causing a ton of problems for him because of how much he's short-changing himself, he's still learning and growing in those areas where he's lacking - it's just happening a *LOT* slower than it could.
and here is something that was not mentioned, in his days in the game he was so good with his rp build that he was one of the best magic casters when it came to time stop combos, and whats more impressive is that he ALONE was able to keep the guild at the 45th place out of every single guild i believe they were the 8th strongest guild considering they only had 41 members.
i just realized pandoras actor inhereted his esteem like in the PDL fight lol he breaks that overlord persona and crumbles, though that could've been a diversion to.
@@Beefercow He was just acting how he thought Ainz would (since PA is a doppelganger after all), that whole breaking persona thing was just an act to fool PDL - much like how Ainz fools his opponents in 1v1 battles by giving false information or impressions.
That scene with albedo hit me too, hard. Being alone to witness their creators disappear one by one and can't do anything about it is just sad. The other one was after Ainz fought shalltear, when Ainz saw the floor guardians picking on shalltear, and saw his guildmates instead. He tried to reach for them like he is longing for them to be there but snapped back to reality when albedo approached him. Some, if not all of us have the same feeling playing MMORPG years ago, and seeing our friends drop out leaving forever for reality reasons. I really love overlord lore, the depth and scale of it is insane. It's lore is massive but somewhat still, in a way expandable. So much can be added to a already rich lore, the possibilities are endless. Can't wait for season V. Sasuga Ainz-sama!
This series is by far the most well thought, well developed story ever written that got to be animated(my opinion).....tensura is also be good...but i think Overlord series is by far the best
“Lord Ainz. The merciful Lord Ainz, who stayed behind with us. Please! Please rule over us forever. I beg you from the bottom of my heart! Please! Please!” - Albedo
Last point... I have been saying it for as long as I can remember... in the LN you can feel Albedo's despair as Ainz says that he left a place for himself too...
@@chechenko_9430 She definitely is... But there are moments she is not, that was one of those moments... (also, when Ainz kissed her and she actually cried and called he momonga)
Ainz is in the minority of OP MC's that actually are careful when approaching brand new situations, we see so many other stories about overpowered kids that go out into the wild with zero consequences for their actions whatsoever while it is obvious how world-breaking and impactful their sole existence are. Another detail that goes back to even Vol. 1 is that Ainz thought it was weird how people of the new world actually used game lingo to describe stuff: levels, classes, skills, magic tiers, etc. The way it was contextualized made sense because it was actually strange but eventually there was a very good reason for this world-building-wise.
To the point they remember their game. It's not only time this happen. All across manga/novel/anime/audio books all NPC on one time or other tell their expirence before they got transported. Like Shaltear telling after fight with Ainz it's not the first time she died or Sebas when they were saving that girl thinking to himself that he may be looks older but he is younger that she is.
Not to forget, ainz can actualy gain Nfirea talent with the wish item and I am pretty sure it was confrimed in the novel. Ainz also has a wolrd time that can store XP, so in theory... If ainz copies the happy farm of Demi, he can continiously stack all kinds of talents and make himself stronger. Not sure if they would be usefull, but there is bound to be a talent like [Increase Mana Capacity by 5%] or something, right?
I believe the wish item could only be used 3 times, and he accidentally wasted one of them trying to break Shaltear's mind control. Also, we know for a fact that Nazarick's resources are at this point in time finite, because they don't have access to Yggdrasil crafting materials to reproduce them. That's one of the reasons the happy farm exists in the first place, is so that Demiurge can find new ways to restock Nazarick's supplies.
@@Nyrufa this is true but we must remmeber Nazarick is LOADED with gold since in Yggrasil they were already loaded and in the new world Ainz confirms that Pandora can change 1 Yggdrasil gold for 2 New World Gold... Ainz is an unstoppable force
@@rexrockefella4586 Ainz spent 500,000 gold to bring Shaltear back to life, which was a pretty significant hit to their finances. The reason why the guild was able to remain functional is because Ainz dedicated practically all his remaining free time to farming gold, just to pay off all the maintenance upkeep. Now, he's stuck in a world where Yggdrasil currency is no longer easily obtainable without using a specific item to 'convert' new world resources. Whether or not new world currency can be used to sustain the maintenance fees, or be used for resurrection, we don't know right now.
@@Nyrufa He could also use the super tier spell itself when the ring runs out of charges. With the world item avarice and generosity he wouldn't suffer from the EXP cost.
With the innkeeper, the man is also worried and pissed because he thinks Mormon is most likely some rich kid who had his rich parents buy his armor, not something that was earned.
1:25 ~ Not necessarily a Gacha ... Most items Ainz use have actual utility, and Ainz is a Collector. So, isn't really strange for him to buy directly from the shop to get, at least, one of each item. Also, in MMO isn't strange to have a weird random event quest to give a trash item (like that ugly mask). Yggdrasil is more likely one of those default Anime Video Games. Way too complex, full of shitty impossible mechanics and a unbelievable popularity, that makes it last way too long, when the game should've flopped in the first year. (also, hacks and dataminers don't exist)
@@mahistv Overlord was written before the Gacha Hell broke loose, or even really started to appear. So he likely wasn't playing slot machine with his hard-earned salary but he did buy all sorts of cash shop stuff, including pay-to-win trinkets.
A lot, and I mean a LOT, of the complexity and structure of Yggdrasil is based on D&D 3.x mechanics (especially epic-level D&D 3.x, specifically) with some extra stuff tacked on (like guild mechanics). It is not at all just "default anime video game".
Novel is WAY darker than the anime. A lot of thing such as torture, rape, murder and demiurge having fun (this guy is the most evil character of the novel for being both -500 karma and a total sadist) are not in the anime. You would throw up and breakdown if half of what happened in the novel was put on screen.
I've read portions and let me tell you, not only what you said is true, but Maruyama's writing is freaking awesome! That scene with Sebas about to kill Tsuare was just marvelously depicted in the LN.
Ainz-sama is only "dumb" because his human 140 IQ brain is not thinking as deeply about his future plans as his over-max Intellect stat should allow, or as much as the 200 IQ floor guardians expect from the Supreme Being known as "The Master of Death". In fact, Ainz' old human mind even had a habit of getting lost in the weeds on a bunch of tangents, walking away for a while, and coming back only to feel embarrassed by the things he did on those tangents (see: Pandora's Actor and his... particular style of uniform and mannerisms...). That may hinder his ability to perform deep-dive studies like what we see Demiurge and Albedo regularly doing, but it helps him EXCEL at lateral thinking, able to take in information, analyze it from every angle, and come up with many questions, answers, and responses that most people wouldn't have even recognized as being relevant. That constant flood of questions and constant demand for new data to answer it is how he was able to lead the diverse guild of Nine's Own Goal so effectively, how he was able to keep maintaining the guild despite its waning active player count, and how he has been able to adapt so easily to threats in the New World. So in short Ainz isn't dumb or god-tier omniscient, but he's smart with an extremely odd way of thinking (both to the newly-sentient NPCs and the longtime inhabitants of the New World), to the point that no one can fully predict what Ainz will do next, making him Nazerick's unquestionable mastermind and glorious leader in the eyes of its denizens (reinforced every time they think that they learn even a hint of Ainz' galaxy-spanning plans), while also making him a terrifying unpredictable threat that no one in the New World can ever hope to either outwit or defeat.
I loved this video so much. You really did honor my favorite NPCs, Ainz-sama, and what has amounted to me to be my second favorite anime, right behind AoT whose themes of always moving forward deeply resonated with me. That's saying a lot. Just... thanks man. The end brought tears to my eye.
Here is my theory: I think there are 2 brains in Ainz. They overlap on each other. The one brain is the salary man from another world brain, and the second brain is the Overlord highest-level-undead brain. When salary man's brain goes off track, you see the green light and Overlord brain temporarily steers the ship.
I love the anime and recetly started reading the LN (I'm at vol 6 now) and got a whole new perspective of the characters! Well, not entirely "new" but a more detailed one and the ln fills in quite a few "gaps" of the anime - highly recommend it to anyone who loves the series!
Your compassionate psychological analysis of Albedo's reaction to Ainz's/Momonga's suggestion that he might leave opened my eyes to what might go through the minds of AI characters that suddenly come to life in a strange world with the last member of their beloved creators. Well done.
The Ainz and rudeus greyrat from Mushoku tensei have a lot in common, what I mean is in their monologues they underestimate themselves, don’t give themselves enough credit, and over estimate others
What a lot of people don't understand about ainz is that in a lot of ways without him nazarick wouldn't work. Just because he's not providing the details for the plan does not mean that he's not providing the structure the bones of the said plan details can be hashed out but without good structure any plan will fall apart. That is what ainz provides.

What drew me to this anime more and more was seeing Momonga loosing himself to the dark side of being the Overlord of Death little by little! And he could see it! Had no choice but to accept it! The man behind Momonga is strong to be able to cope with that! So yeah I agree that hes actually smart! Great vid man!

Tbh, I used to think Overlord is a garbage harem anime because the first clip I saw was Ainz doing puff-puff action to Albedo (also my raging hatred towards harem anime that time) lol Glad I picked it up few years later after that because it had 3 season already 😊
That particular moment was a very bad coincidence and I even talk about it in my previous video. Ainz-sama totally lost the touch with reality for a bit, because nothing made sense - servers not shutting down, interface gone, NPC acting up... He just wasn't thinking too straight, or was he?

Albedo, Negredo, and Rubedo were made by Tabula Smaragdina, a gamer that was heavily into Mythology, Horror and Alchemy, through Albedo and Her sister, WE can tell what hes into. Sabus, was made by Touchme the most Righteous of Ainz Ooal Gown and was designed to look exactly like Touch me Irl, And through Sabus we can tell what type of person Touch me is, Despite barely having Screen Time. Demiurge was created by Ulbert Alain Odle, a Chuunibyou that was fixated on the word Evil and was of a poor upbringing but strived to work his way up the Social ladder, always trying "to see a few steps ahead" whats more, Demiurge is in a classy Business Suit which shows Ulberts Chuunibyou and goals, All the characters were literally designed to be designed by Gamers, Otakus, Weebs and all sorts, Which also showed the Characters that the "Players" were as well

If I'm honest and consider Everything. I actually didn't think about them remembering everything from Yggdrasil... But I don't get the whole Yandere thing. I will say yeah she's obbsesive and over-passionate, but almost a decade of minor interaction, and straight up neglect. It's more plausible to say she's desperate. The Death Squad makes sense as with her enhanced intellect married to the desperation. It's essentially a psychological defense to prempt the only thing she fears most. Being abandonded by Not only the last of the Supreme beings, but the one she loves most. Her psyche's pretty fucked.
@@mahistv I meant that I didn't get the connection till you pointed it out. What I don't get is the thing of people calling Albedo Yandere. Over Passionate yeah, but she's largely just desperate.
The main thing about Ainz is that he *IS* less intelligent than average. But he is *clever* instead. Those things are only vaguely related and still often get confused and mixed up. In game terms his intelligence is okay at best, but his wisdom is through the roof. He is not fit for making out a long term strategy like Demiurge is designed to do, but he knows exactly when he should what do to gain the upper hand in a short term situation. Yes the books as well as the anime point him out to be oblivious to certain situations every once and again, but those have absolutely nothing to do with his intelligence. But with the writer aiming for a "comedic effect" in that scene.
I do have to admit, both in English and Japanese Dubbing the actresses playing Albedo damn hit the emotional nail on the head with their performances in episode 11 (or 12 i think it was) falling to the floor in emotional distress at the thought of the last of the creators leaving them is something akin to the feeling i imagine if someone lost their faith in God. the Creations of Nazarick were semi self aware of their times spent with their creators are treasured memories. Given enough time and information i imagine VI's could eventually become self aware enough to become AI's.
fuck YEAHHHHH and this why we LOVE Overlord !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wasn't gonna buy any OL merch but after s4 I finally caved and ordered some Albedo figs :P
With number 1 it isn't just that they remember all of the past but their original programming was to be loyal to all 41 members of the guild and that original program became their normal day to day personality
Man shows up in S4, gave the MOST THREATENING LINE ever and then just vanished again. Then complained that his best friend who should root for him is rooting for his enemy and is mildy annoyed by that!
I never thought about Nfirea using staff of AOG. Excellent point! Also, yes. Muzan is such a trash villain omg. And Ainz is stupid. But he is intelligent in a practical sense. He's just average iq. He can make logical conclusions. But he's not a schemer, much less a super genius like the floor guardians make him out to be. He's just winging it.
I agree with you distinguishing between types of "smart" but I disagree with him being dumb, he is definitely above average and if he REALLY makes a strategy - it works. He just doesn't plot that much.
Would you rather play something like Yggdrasil or SAO or some other VR?
Yggdrasil 100%
SAO is a confined world, yeah it is massive but it will feel really confined after a while, SAO also has a fraction of the amount of items in Yggdrasil, in both playing and teleporting to both worlds, Yggdrasil easily takes the cake
Yggdrasil because it has magic and SAO doesn’t
May I ask if ainz will find the reason why he turned into a lich because it feels funny why was he chosen to be transported to world similar to his game
@@hyjjjkyikk3158 wdym the reason why he turned into a lich? That was his in-game avatar all along.
He wasn't transported to a world similar to the game, instead the world was directly influenced by the game because of Wild Magic.
I think half the reason people think Ainz is dumb is due to Ainz thinking himself to be dumb, and since we read so many of his inner-monologues, its easy to start perceiving him the way he perceives himself.
I swear, if we remove the inner monologue... people will absolutely believe that he is THE genius.
"I know that I know nothing" a saying derived from Plato's account of the Greek philosopher Socrates.

Sasuga Ainz-sama 💀

Sasuga indeed!
Those games are built to be pay-to-win. You WILL get an advantage with cash shop items, so everyone who can will use them, otherwise, you lose...
@@mahistv
To say a few things myself: Some of your points are really good like Albedo and her emotions or the barkeeper but I need to correct/clarify a few things:
1. (Funny enough that this is basically contradicting something the show often states: "No amount of effort can surpass talent and people without talent cant reach the same place as the one with it.)
But his knowledge in term of Yggrasil is most likely unparalleled and because of his salesman attitude and therefore knowing how to interact with people if they fit a certain shema, he can control the conversation somewhat.
Because he knows how bad/troublesome it is if an incompetent superior influences badly and ruins things.)
Besides his concluding that a third Party is involved is also something he knows is a proven strategy.
Small correction: Peroroncino was the one to break the No Cash Alliance, he wanted to give his avatar a gold glitter effect
@@Bucket_with_a_hat Thats what I said 😅
@@ThatGuyAkashi ah sorry about that, thought you said Ainz was the one to break it first
Ainz was the smartest isekai mc.
Ainz knows if he arguing with demiurge he will loss, since Albedo hold the highest rank in floor guardian no one would dare questioning her
You're spittin') I agree with that!
I'll agree he's one of the smartest but I think the Slime one is smarter, I'd put him at the top of the ones I actually know of
Ainz over all grasp of his situation stems from running the guild, game mechanics and understanding of everything in nazarik is simply god tier in forethought.
There are theories that his dark wisdom skill doesn't just give him more spell capacity but also affects his decision making.
I'm telling you, if you disregard the inner monologue, not a single soul will question his wisdom.
I agree, it took me a while to really understand the situation
@@axios4702 they just gotten freedom to express but the feelings is always there.
the reason people think ainz is less than intelligent is mostly because he is constantly playing catch up to demiurge when it comes to his plans. in that while ainz has made a decent plan with a good chance of success demiurge pipes up and starts going off on how that plan is the latest in a long string of carefully planned out moves made by ainz each second. essentially he gets so over hyped by his guardians/children that "ainz sama" and ainz are on entirely different levels.
Guardians should bring it down a notch)

I think people forget ains is defiantly above average in intelligence BUT he's always compared to the giga brains known as albedo and demi-urge
I agree, he might not pack a masters degree, but he is hella smart with what he has!
I agree, he needs to realize that he is a very competent ruler and, at times, schemer (C) El Nyx.
and here is something that was not mentioned, in his days in the game he was so good with his rp build that he was one of the best magic casters when it came to time stop combos, and whats more impressive is that he ALONE was able to keep the guild at the 45th place out of every single guild i believe they were the 8th strongest guild considering they only had 41 members.
i just realized pandoras actor inhereted his esteem like in the PDL fight lol he breaks that overlord persona and crumbles, though that could've been a diversion to.
@@Beefercow He was just acting how he thought Ainz would (since PA is a doppelganger after all), that whole breaking persona thing was just an act to fool PDL - much like how Ainz fools his opponents in 1v1 battles by giving false information or impressions.
Yeah just like iron man he always learn.
I like to think that the writer of the Novel writes it like Ainz is creating his plans, wants it to be simple, creates a masterpiece
Interesting!

“Lord Ainz. The merciful Lord Ainz, who stayed behind with us. Please! Please rule over us forever. I beg you from the bottom of my heart! Please! Please!” - Albedo
From the bottom of her heart IN-fucking-DEED!
Last point... I have been saying it for as long as I can remember... in the LN you can feel Albedo's despair as Ainz says that he left a place for himself too...
I think they've done a pretty good job in the anime too!
The light novel goes more in depth about it, but I’m surprise no one has really seen albedo for what she really is, a manipulator and a hypocrite
Just like laws of physics, levels and tiers are a part of that world.
Great points!

Now, he's stuck in a world where Yggdrasil currency is no longer easily obtainable without using a specific item to 'convert' new world resources. You would throw up and breakdown if half of what happened in the novel was put on screen.
Thanks comrade, time to read some books indeed)

@@mahistv Once the anime is over I will do right by the LN and read them!
2:59 - “And scoring so damn well, he regrets it at times…” Definitely that.
Gotta be careful with what you wish for)
What drew me to this anime more and more was seeing Momonga loosing himself to the dark side of being the Overlord of Death little by little! And he could see it! Had no choice but to accept it! The man behind Momonga is strong to be able to cope with that! So yeah I agree that hes actually smart! Great vid man!
Thank you! And yes, that is a very intriguing part of the show!
9:20 Mine was Demiurge Loyalty for wanting to bring his forces to backup Ainz, even if it meant that later he will be killed by Ainz.
Not sure if Ainz-sama would kill him
"Diablo immoral"
It's exactly what it is)
@@mahistv I will not blame the dev, bussiness is bussiness

Everyone: SASUGA!!! AINZ-SAMA
Of course! A skeleton... pardon, elder lich who can BREATH! Truly a Supreme Being)
@@mahistv yes, indeed 🤣
Nearing 19k, huge congrats bro, Keep working hard and posting these top tier videos.
Thank you! I'll continue to do my best!
Overlord is one of the most complex stories existing and people cry how simple it is XD
Those people are simple themselves!
Because of your easy explanation video for overlord haters, I'm giving this a thumbsup and subscribe
I appreciate you, glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this video, can you do all the seasons?
Thank you! That is the plan)
Him being an overlord Wiseman class already makes his IQ level off the charts. It's just his inner human-like mind still remaining after he was summoned to this world.
I agree, I even mentioned this in my newest video - his stats carry over!
I love when you mentoned being stupid but having magical talent you showed aqua.
Couldn't think of a more fitting character LMAO
Haha, thank you
Put some respect on overlord name
The greatest into another world story I've seen and heard this far
story wise I think log horizon is a better isekai. Considering you basically always know the characters in overlord are gonna crush whoever they fight
@@stuff4812 well the story wouldn't be called "Overlord" if he started losing
Hozen 🔥 tho
The holy empire arc which is the only arc, overlord is amazing
I agree, just the fact that the MC can't lose, doesn't make the story bad. One-Punch Man won't let me lie
Tbh, I used to think Overlord is a garbage harem anime because the first clip I saw was Ainz doing puff-puff action to Albedo (also my raging hatred towards harem anime that time) lol
Glad I picked it up few years later after that because it had 3 season already 😊
That particular moment was a very bad coincidence and I even talk about it in my previous video. Ainz-sama totally lost the touch with reality for a bit, because nothing made sense - servers not shutting down, interface gone, NPC acting up... He just wasn't thinking too straight, or was he?
@@mahistv he groped to see if he would get a warning message for trying to do R18 acts which could have alerted the admins
@@mahistv Ainz be like:
"Hmm, yea, that all makes sense, so Albedo, by touching your ■■■■■ I have made a conclusion - we are transported to another world and no longer in Yggdracil."
Overlord is basically Darksouls but Vanilla(doesnt make it any less good or bad) its extremely detailed, as a Example all the Residents Of Nazarick, EVERY CHARACTER in there, was made by the Author as if Unique Gamers Developed THEM, Those gamers wanted maids in Nazarick, they threw the Pleiades in there, Battle Maids....IN A FANTASY GAME, maids are favored by weebs and thats what the Gamers were, whats more every main floor Character(Albedo, Sabus, Cocaidus, Ect) were Personally Designed and developed as if Role playing Gamers actually made them.
Demiurge was created by Ulbert Alain Odle, a Chuunibyou that was fixated on the word Evil and was of a poor upbringing but strived to work his way up the Social ladder, always trying "to see a few steps ahead" whats more, Demiurge is in a classy Business Suit which shows Ulberts Chuunibyou and goals,
All the characters were literally designed to be designed by Gamers, Otakus, Weebs and all sorts, Which also showed the Characters that the "Players" were as well
I agree that we can tell a lot about members of Ainz Ooal Gown just by observing their creations... which makes us understand how Ainz-sama feels, because they constantly remind him of his comrades.
@@mahistv yea man, even with characters we barely see like the bathhouse Guardian, through it we can see that Lucifer was a prankster or a troll, every small detail about the Nazarick members just expresses the thoughts and ideals of the Members of Ainz Ooal Gown its amazing
Finally a man who gets it.
I connect with Overlord on a spiritual level)
When I first watch overlord i was in awe
So was I, that's why I watched it 10 more times
You wanna know why Eien is a genius For the same reason gon is a genius it's the rule of kiss keep the simple stupid The simplest answer is often the correct one
Sometimes, the easier the problem is, that harder it is to solve for a smart person...
@@mahistv Amen Amen Stagnation of mind stagnation of movement Stagnation of movement Is death
AKA you think you die
Great explanation dude, love it from you.
I appreciate it, thanks for watching!
as a non novel reader, is it hinted or revealed that albedo made an elite squad to hunt down other players? cuz if that was in anyway shape or form hinted in the anime i sure as fuck missed it.
No hints at all, you're good)
So good, you should be in 100k sub club. Just got done with season 4 of overlord. Any recommendations as to what to watch now? Maybe you should make a video on it.
There are plenty recommendations I can make, but I don't know what have you seen. Hunter Hunter, Slime, Fullmetal Brotherhood
Damn right, they all became real with memories of their past. Also the simple fact Ainz stayed not for the other creators tgey were gone, but for the creations.
This is big feels)
I think Ainz's forgetfulness is confused with stupidity. He forgets the things said in passing while the NPCs remember everything he says.
I think that contributes a lot...
whenever i hear "smartest op anime bbeg" being used, they are always talking about either muuzan, or maadura from naruto. and to me, my number one thought has always been "if they're so smart, how did an idiot with an army take them down with almost no plan what so ever?"
Muzan is garbage and an idiot! I will not have my mind changed on that PERIOD! Made enough videos about that dumbass)
5:19 well... most of them do... *stares at Philip Kaka*
He and Barbaro aren't too far apart)
Yes my favourite watched it several times.
Thank you, glad you enjoy it so much!
Very nice analysis! Gonna subscribe to get more your your vids! Keep them coming!
Glad to have you here! More Overlord coming soon!
this video ROCKS!
Thanks dude! Glad you like it)
Speak them facts!! (Albedo got me in the feels too many times😭)

All I know is I understand everything now thanks to you and also holy crap that is so true and sad
Glad I was able to help!

Man, once you called me a comrade, I was sold into your channel ❤️
Welcome dude! Glad to have you here
Bruhhh they better make the conclusion of Nferia’s plot satisfying. They spent too much time on that story not to
I mean, LN has a pretty nice thing going on with him and I don't see anything bad really happening.
9:24 Exactly what an Overlord fan will say
The goblin general horns Ainz give Enri are a trashy mob drop, not a cash shop item
I see, thanks for correcting me
Clicked because of the content, stayed because of the content AND the edit
Thank you, glad you like my stuff
thank you, the anime couldn't make justice with how deep and complex the world building is(guess it's borring for the majority) usually they only focus on the action scenes on the anime adaptation, tanya the evil is another example
Unfortunately yes, world-building is very underrated and boring for the majority of people. They need quick and bombastic action, or some drama
I typically call the Overlord anime a "Nazarick compilation".
I may use that in the future actually)
You say that they don't remember stuff from Yggdrasil, but then say a decade off neglect... I'm not sure if I understand you
@@mahistv I meant that I didn't get the connection till you pointed it out. What I don't get is the thing of people calling Albedo Yandere. Over Passionate yeah, but she's largely just desperate.
@@meliodasgloom1818 Oh I see. I just notice a lot of people associating her with that archetype and I don't think they do her justice with that.
Ah. And I agree. In greater detail later,
I'm gonna start watching this very soon! Just got into dnd and this seems like a fun anime :)
It absolutely is, and if you are into DnD, you should feel right at home
I see your point, also agree with the comedic relief!
We have had the overly cautious hero. Ainz is the overly cautious villain.
Very freaking true!
It's hard to tell HOW aware they were, but they certainly hold memories and such
I would say, one who self-critic oneself to be dumb or lacking, is actually smart enough to know that knowledge will never be enough.
I agree, the fact that he is so careful and self-aware, makes him at least somewhat smart by default
fuck YEAHHHHH and this why we LOVE Overlord !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wasn't gonna buy any OL merch but after s4 I finally caved and ordered some Albedo figs :P
I wish I wasn't broke so I can do that too)
@@mahistv that's why i bought small ones and not the BIG ones :/
This editing is hilarious
Thank you, glad you're having fun!
With number 1 it isn't just that they remember all of the past but their original programming was to be loyal to all 41 members of the guild and that original program became their normal day to day personality
I mean, it's part of it
Man shows up in S4, gave the MOST THREATENING LINE ever and then just vanished again.
Then complained that his best friend who should root for him is rooting for his enemy and is mildy annoyed by that!
great review dude i absolutely loved it
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Kick ass analysis Mahis. 👍
Thank you!
