Thank god someone is experienced enough to repair micro channel coils because there’s too many technicians that just recommend a new unit instead of fixing the coil
@@zack9912000 I agree but I’ve come into situations where the micro channel coil is leaking and it’s the customers only unit. Just fix it and recommend a new coil after
I'm confused. Does anyone have any idea why he used the Al-cop rather than the Alloy-sol from Solderweld? Al-cop is for joining aluminum and copper but has internal flux Alloy-sol is intended for aluminum repair and melts at a much lower temp but needs flux. His method seems to work very well and is super quick. Would Al-cop last as a long term micro-channel coil repair solution?
No confusion. We tested Al-Cop by accident and found it to flow better than Alloy-Sol for repairing aluminum. Al-Cop lasts just as long and there’s no flux to deal with. We’ve been using it this way for years.
Haha I had a funny thought. With microchannel coils this will be part of the yearly maintenance before you wash it out with a hose. You take it all apart and braze all the holes shut. Hahaha this becomes the regular maintenance for this system when microchannel takes over.
We found that the AlCop works better on micro channel. It was an accidental find when Solderweld was in our shop doing a class on brazing. AlCop is all we stock in our vans and we have had no issue. It’s entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
Oh these coils are the worst. I've had to do so much warranty work on these coils and I've stopped selling York. I will never sell York equipment unless they fix this bs. It's horrible. One of my customers for example 18 months a whole brand new system. Bam leak in the coil. We can't warranty the labor or the refrigerant. It makes me look like an AH and I genuinely feel terrible. There should have been some law suit and a free replacement agreement for all these coils. I will never ever sell another York unit...
@@cochisecounty_travels I refuse to do a micro channel repair. 😤 I think the idea is pretty cool but the need to get their s together first! Way too many issues with micro channel leaks and evap coil leaks. It's ridiculous. Then again it does provide a pay check
@@hvacdr We had a micro channel in Colorado that was shot with a gun. We fixed and got the unit back on line. most repairs are shipping or freight issues during transport.
@@cochisecounty_travels we we we. Im over 35000 service calls in. I have fixed a coil that was shot by 9 mm. It was on video. it grazed through the copper coil and it only needed a simple patch. I saw the video. A tenant was trying to kill the owner. The guy is in prison. As far as them aluminum coils i wont sell a unit that has those type of coils unless im held at gun point. and i also will not fix one unless held at gun point.

All of our guys are trained in microchannel. Repairs are pretty easy
Microchannel can be patched, but the coils are just junk.

Does it cause any restrictions and does the refrigerant fliw through the the coil?
It does not. The filler material bonds to the parent metal only without slag or impediment to the flow of the line
I just want to make sure I order the right one and use the right one thanks in advance

Would it be a good idea to pull a vacuum while brazing micro channel
No. No need for it.
Yes, on some coils, it helps pull the solder in on difficult spots
Can I use a butane torch, or does it have to be MAPP gas?
Should be Mapp.

Nope. We’ve had no issues with these coils.
Is this a temporary fix or a permanent solution?
Permanent
you recommend to install ac with micro channal coil????
Yes
Question why are you using the Alcop instead of the Alloy Sol, I believe the Micro channel condenser coils are all aluminum?

You have merchandise? Shirts or stickers? I’d like to support 🤘🏻

Many companies use micro channel. We have no problems making coil repairs.

Garbage vid. I bet if it was pressure tested it would have micro leaks all over the place 😂😂
Nope. We repair microchannel coils and aluminum leaks all the time. We’ve been doing them for years. Good try though.
