Al822 isn't great at bridging larger gaps, but it can join Cooper to aluminum. You can wrap a large hole with thermostat wire, then seal the whole thing with the 822. Since it flows so nice, it makes for a great repair.

I practice brazing the bottom of aluminum cans I drill holes in. Definitely a skill that takes a lot of practice.

I have some solder weld aluminum brazing rods with the flux already in them and they work great. Never tried the ones where you have to dip it in the flux tho.

I love your video definitely the AL 822 is the better product. What gas did you use to weld with? I didn’t see where you showed that. I’ve never had a chance to work with an aluminum coil yet might have always been copper and where did you buy your torch at for your aluminum?

Could you do a smaller area where the fins need to be removed? i would like to see that repair process. So what gas did you use and exactly what is the bernzomatic tip that you did use > you told us the one you didn't use

Are you using a propane torch or acytalene?

It’s not the steps boss you need more heat you don’t have enough heat that’s what was happening to me using the solder weld when I was trying to use a Map gas torch you need a turbo torch or just use the small tip on your oxygen acetylene torch that stuff will flow smooth when you get enough heat!
Also I used the AL 822 and had a problem with gas leaking between the base metal and patch the torch pulls the oil from inside the coil and your patch doesn’t make a good seal! I don’t have the problem with the solder weld! Maybe just use the extra flux with the AL 822!

I thought Alloy Sol rods came with a coating of flux on them, and you're not supposed to use extra flux. I mean that's what I've heard. I'm going to repair a HVAC low pressure line I nicked with the bottom of a car battery I was installing in my car. It's a pinhole the size of a safety pin needle.

@ 4:45 it looked like you had it completely soldered but you kept at it and it got sloppy like joe.
