Love the comments. They're not filled up with a bunch of guys saying. Just replace it! just replace it! I hate when somebody wants to replace something thats still got possibly five more years of life. That's why the younger guys don't know how to do shit cause there too busy replacing everything.
It's a major issue for sure! It's surprising to me that this "no incentive to repair" culture we're living in isn't really a topic of conversation in mainstream circles that are supposed to care a lot about the environment and the poor.
The day I learn how to braze aluminium and manage to actually do a decent job with it , I think I'll be rather happy with myself. Well done mate , very neat indeed 👍.
Dude, you are top tier in my books for how-to content creator. Good tempo, good play by play, good visuals, and you obviously have a firm grasp on the ins and outs of all that is HVAC. And the voice is youtube gold so its all there man. I watch alot of how-to vids, not as a hobby but because i have to learn somethin fast so i can do all these projects that have little to no experience in but i take on in the name of the Almighty Dollar. Your gonna have success in this man so keep on rowin. Me, and a whole buncha guys aound the world lean on youtube like a crutch nowadays. Its like the Chiltons for Everything. I subbed right away and im gonna run thru your list. Thanks for the info
You’re welcome! It means so much to me to hear that…because my dream was always to empower the working class! I haven’t always been the best about supporting DIYers. Are you a DIYer? I’m honestly interested in your story! At this point, as I’ve gotten older, I’m more sympathetic to HVAC needs. I’ve even been thinking about HVAC charities 😊 A new system can be 8-12K. That’s a HARD financial blow and I think there are reasons it’s so expensive because it’s a hellish industry to be in. Just know that I hear you and I do want change 👍
All right, I rewatched this video to see if there were any tips that would help me. I've done some aluminum brazing before, mostly successful but not always, but this one isn't going to be easy. Right in the middle of a micro Channel condenser coil. All I've got is an acetylene torch and some Al8. If I mess up, the church doesn't have any air conditioning for the services this weekend, and that's kind of a big deal in Florida. No pressure, right? Okay, enough stalling. I'm going in.
@@HVACLife It was actually much easier than I figured. I cleaned it up real well, mainly just sandcloth until everything was shiny. Since the channels were so thin, I thought they would melt too quickly. As soon as I put heat to it, within a couple seconds, I applied al8 and it melted perfectly. I believe there was about a 1 second difference between 'hot enough' and 'oh, damn, I melted it' but it worked out. Maybe because it was for a church I had angels on my side? Perhaps just a bit of luck. It seems to always be the stuff I expect to be the most difficult that end up easy, and the stuff I expect to go smoothly that end up an absolute mess.
I think the stuff thay goes right is there to teach you how to dream and not waste away in nightmares 😊 Good job dude. I honestly have never repaired a microchannel. Didn’t think it was possible 🙌💯
You didn't screw into the side of that unit for the wire rope bracket did you!?!?!?!?!? Those units MUST NOT be compromised in such a manner, or so the instructions warn. 🤫

Glad it was helpful!

Oh yeah that sounds difficult. How did it go?

Could You Make That Repair With Stay Bright 8?
On making your powder flux to paste.
When you mixed it, roughly what is the consistency you’re looking for? Normal water or distilled?
distilled is always better in cases like this. less chance of impurities messing around
@@HVACLife what is the name of the flux?

Al Braze is way too expensive.
In Indonesia, Al Braze cost about $42 - 227gr because imported from US.
