    I’m teaching myself to crochet at age 80 using RUclips videos. I’m looking for just small projects and this is one ill be doing today. Very well explain and shown, at least, in my limited viewpoint when it comes to crochet. Thank you so much. I can do this!

    That is amazing. I have been crochet since I was 12. I'm 65 now and yet I just learned a new trick. I have never done the rib brim ever like you just showed me. See you can teach old dogs new tricks.
    I am from now on going to make my hats like this.
    Thank you.

      My hat's brim didn't lay flat like yours. It makes the brim fan out, almost like a sunhat. I don't know if it's just the type of yarn I practiced on. Or that I used a size larger hook than you did. 🤦‍♀️

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад

      @@bethhayes4882 It's possible you added too many stitches to your brim causing it to fan out. It's also possible that you need to go down a hook size. Try going down one hook size and see if that makes a difference :)

      HOW CAN WE MAKE OUT WHERE IS THE FIRST DOUBLE CROCHET STARTING FROM??

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  6 месяцев назад

      @@floofycat97 the first double crochet is worked into the first stitch of each round. The chain does not count as a double crochet.

    This looks so good! How would I adjust the pattern if I’m using a cotton yarn that’s a number 4 medium weight

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  26 дней назад

      Thank you! You would follow the hat sizing chart to get the size you want (see description box below). If you’re using a worsted weight yarn, it should come out the same size as mine as that’s what I used as well, just in an acrylic version. Hope that helps!

    Amanda im yeying to figure out how many rounds would I stop at to make brim and just attach It to hat I hope making sense so if newborn hat is 10 rows top to bottom what row would I stop at so I can do brim maybe "1 1/2 " brim I'm going to play around to see what I can d

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Год назад

      If you’re using the same brim I’m using, I ended up chaining 6 for the height. You’re always welcome to chain more to make the brim thicker. I did not measure the brim of my hat, but I’d say anywhere between 1-2 inches would be a safe bet.

    I can crochet, made a lot of items like shawls and blankets/throws but I have a new grandchild, my first ever, a little Boy due in Feb… and I have made blankets… but I really want to make a few little hats for him, can’t wait to try this and the “dreaded magic circle” lol wish me luck! It’s gonna take me half a week not half an hour lol

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад

      The magic circle can take some time to get used to. If it’s easier, you can chain 4 and slip stitch back into the first chain to form a ring. Good luck and congrats!

      @@AmandaCrochets definitely i already make 5 hats and making another one but this time im using 3MM hook will that hat comes smaller? the yarn i am using is baby yard recommended hook 4mm but i used a smaller one and as i am doing row 6 i realized is coming smaller. Please advise? will the size of the hook determine the size of the hat?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад +1

      @@StargrlAnnywz Yes, the size of the hook and yarn will determine how big the hat will turn out. If you're using a smaller crochet hook, you will need to make more rounds until you get your desired hat size. Likewise, for a larger hook, you probably need less rounds for your hat.
