I own a 70 Mach I I bought from the original owner in 1978 and it still has the original yellow paint with the black striped hood with the 351C4V, 4 speed, shaker hood, window louvers, A/C, hood locks, fold down rear seat and I know that car inside and out and the work you did on your 70 is absolutely amazing and I doubt there is another one like it anywhere and the best part is you drive it and enjoy it, which is exactly what a car is for.

Same here I have a 70 Mach1 I bought from original owner on 9/19/73 and still own it today and still sports its original Medium Lime Metallic factory paint. 351C 4 speed with louvers spoilers and Ford Factory Magnum 500s. I bought it when I came home from Vietnam. I worked at a Ford dealer in 69 and 70 and they had a few on the lot but I was only making $2 an hour and couldn't afford one at the time. its a keeper thats for sure.

They’re both cool in their own way! I like them both! There’s a company in Orlando Fl.called Revology. They build mustangs with brand new steel 1965-1968 bodies, but with modern,(coyote) engines and modern transmissions, modern brakes and suspension and modern comfort and technology in the interior! They also have the reliability of a modern mustang! I would LOVE to get one! The only problem is they range in price from $175,000-$225,000 depending on what model and options you choose! But if i had the money,i would buy one!

So much I can say. I want to keep it pithy... Restomod minimum on a Mustang: aluminum radiator, OD Transmission, rack and pinion steering, 4 wheel disc brakes.
This gentleman, who did these cars, deserves respect. Impressive work. My favorite of all he has done is the color of the 1970. I think that is the best blue color I have seen on a car. I want to call that "Royal Blue" like the color on the Boss 429 "Royal Maroon."

I've owned first gen Camaros and other classics and struggled with how far to go with the personalization (degree of restomod). I just bought a 70 convertible mustang that I will keep forever and it will eventually include a mix of mostly period correct updates that the car never had but that I like the look of (most likely a tribute car), along with a few modern upgrades. Update: after TKO instal in 2004 which resulted in an unacceptable drive shaft angle even with the trans touching the top of the tunnel I have discovered the fix..The brand new Tremec TKX state of the art 5 speed ! Which will indeed fit in a 69 Mach 1 with ( mild modifications ) to the tunnel ring and shifter hole. Was able to achieve a 4 inch from center of output shaft to top of tunnel clearance ! So even with a seriously dropped Mach it still maintains an acceptable drive shaft angle! AND The TKX shifts like a dream ! BEST $3,000 I have ever spent on my car !!!!!

Thank you! The wheels used were for a 94-04 Mustang. They are Rovos 18x10.5 and 18x9. I went this route because of wheel selection. Didn't want a custom offset. The rears are tight, but work just fine without any major modification to the wheel openings. Just rolled the quarters. Understand that I did get the rear axle cut down so the wheels would fit, but best I remember the stock 70 9" rear is about the same width. Thanks for checking out the channel. The front is another story. I used the k member from the 14 and shortened the track width to fit the wheels. Not sure what stock is and I didn't measure after the modification. Just got my 2022 Coyote with a 10R80 transmission. I wish I could have seen the build of this car because I'm headed in that direction. Right now I'm looking for suspension options or maybe roastershop chases. Wiring is the first tackle though so awaiting the arrival on the ford performance control pack. Any recommendations for me? Doing research at the moment before I start ordering too many parts and blowing my budget. I'm just a military retiree looking to for fill my dream.

Sounds like an awesome way to go. I just bought a mach 1 with the 10r80. That is one bad combo. As far as what I can do to help...seems like you got it figured out. The chassis is where I wish I could help. Seems the roaster shop would be the best, but it starts to get expensive. I used what I could off the 14. The stock suspension, no matter how much you spend...it's still a Falcon front end. Fat man and others make good options. Just get one that gives you the best bang for the buck. Good luck with the build!! Should be one bad ride. It will test you, but just keep moving Ford!!😂

The 69 is a much better looking car than the 70. The rear end and vents on the side make it alot better looking. I like the headligjts better too. I would never complain about a 427 or 428 upgrade over a 390. I understand the 5 speed instead of the 4 speed, especially if it has lower gears. The 70, is not my cup of tea at all. Besides being an inferior year, all the nonsense added to a great car really turns me off. I do enjoy seeing classic cars turned into modern cars.

@@mustangmike5324 I painted my Dark Atlantic Blue Metallic 2000 Saleen Speedster in my garage in June of 2020. I started in May 2019 and It took 13-months of "prep-work", including building the paint booth. The clear coat was the tricky part. Took me 40-hrs to paint it (including 3-hrs to fix a paint run. Then back-out the car and set up the booth for the bumpers, side scoops and speedster covers). I was in a rush to finish it in time to drive it around the NASCAR Kentucky Speedway special event. I worked 8hrs at work then rushed home and worked on it for 17hrs straight, sleep for 6hrs, then worked on it for 23hrs straight. By Saturday morning 7am I was hanging the rear bumper cover and my fingers were sticking to the clear coat. Finger prints are still there to this day. I had to be at the track by 11:30am. All I had to do was reassemble and my wife was begging me to stop at this point. This also included changing all four wheels. But I finished the job in time. Word of advice to anyone reading this; never rush a paint job!

    • @Cobra428SCJ

@@mustangmike5324 I painted it myself for about $1600 and it took over a year. This price includeds all the sandpaper, tools, paint guns, and material to building a paint booth. Which is ironic because I didn't want to pay Macco for a quick $800 paint job. My gawd, next time, just take it to Macco.

Wonder why I am getting a lot of these videos suddenly in my feed. Really starting to hate them. My 9F02R, purchased June 1969, has been on stands in my garage for 10 years now with "I'll get to it one of these days". 1960-70s they were just cars. We drove them swapped parts & did mods without a lot of thought of where the collector's mindset would be 50 years later. Didn't matter what make, most owners made the car "their" car to what they could afford in many cases. Few kept orginal pieces but a lot were just tossed away. I've always had a distaste for the "date correct" because I have thought that the vehicle is really defined by the owner's influence and its history would not be truthful without those owner's input. Other item is that the factories pumped out cars and they didn't let small mixups interfer with production lines and build quotas. Shit happens & let the dealer worry about it. I saw cars come off the transporter and go directly into bodyshops and the customer told there was a factory delivery delay..... A week later the customer got their "brand new" vehicle. I believe it was Shelby who stated " I built these cars to be driven, hard, not parked locked in some garage". Its history IS that car.

No time like the present to get on that ride. Do it the way you want. I obviously don't care about numbers matching cars too. I want the car to be a nice driver. The one thing I always hated was that Mustang's were built on a falcon chassis...junk IMO! Thanks for watching!!

There's a bunch of reasons. One, by the time I got both donor cars the S550 was only out 1 year. Plus, the S550 can't be used without widening the 70. The independent rear and double ball joint front cannot be narrowed without a bunch of modifying. Thanks for watching!!
