Microscam has put its office software as a subscription so in time I can see them charging for Windows. Mac computers are overpriced so they will either buy a used Mac PC or use Linux. Microscam is putting adverts in Windows in the hope that people will become used to them but if they don't want to see the adverts they will find a way to disable them or move to another OS like Linux.

Why is someone asking that, no one wants any bills.

I tested out linux on an old laptop that doesn't meet windows 11 requirements and tried the games i play through steam and bottles and it worked fine for what i use it for. I swapped my windows 11 desktop to linux as well, once setup i have happily migrated to linux about a month ago.

Bottle / Wine is hit or miss regarding emulating Windows apps. Especially third party plugins for music production DAWs

Hah it is getting down to a point where each windows update may require a subscription. Man linux is starting to sound nice to use.

I bought win 10 years ago with my hard earned money, I didn't loan it, and they gave the free upgrade to win 11 that I didn't ask for free, so I took it because why not. So in the future win 12 or whatever, if they changed to subscription or you're not getting the updates, I'll stop here and do whatever I can to work with the existing one. because I buy the software, not loan it.

Companies won't stand for this. Im a field tech and some major business (major discount retailers, home improvement stores) moved on to Ubuntu or some variant of linux and it works pretty good. Keep pissing off your customers ms. Its happening.

If Microsoft manages to successfully charge a subscription for ongoing "support" of Win 10, then there will be a justifiable reason (from Microsoft's perspective) to charge for a Win 11 one.
But I hope they will not go down this route.

That is not a new concept, subscriptions. I believe that was their goal from the beginning: lure people to use their products for little or no cost. After they are bonded to the software, charge a subscription.

and due time slowly ramp up the prices, like what Adobe and Autodesk has done with theirs.

But Apple doesn't license their OS. They limit MacOS to just Macs only

Move to Mac OS?? They already have their version of ReCall on all their devices, so what move there? Linux is the only other option. Let hope Microsoft wakes up
