A most wonderful interview with this accomplished artist…his style is very pleasing..have always liked pen& ink with some colour…have watched & enjoyed his videos…
I think this is the most laid-back, "peaceful, easy feeling" interview I have ever seen on RUclips! Thank you both for sharing your insights and art journeys with everyone. I was one of those who really never liked my drawing or sketching. I am more of a technical artist, who likes the preciseness of the ruler, and I can write calligraphy fairly well, and precision lends itself well to that artform. When I picked up watercolor two months ago, after watching multitudes of RUclips tutorials, I realized that I must tackle the 'sketching monster', as it were, to achieve the look I wanted in my paintings. I must say that in just two months, I have already seen great improvement in both my sketching and painting due to my sketching practice. After watching your interview today, I hope to tackle the 'control monster' next, and learn to use my ruler more "for just measuring things", like John does. Bless you both, from Texas!
Omg! Harrison is so sweet. Love how honest he is with his art and how much he enjoy it. The art and music has a lot in common and even when I do not play any instrument music works with my mood and inspires me at the time I’m making art. Great podcast Ania like always! xoxo
John is a lovely guy and a talented artist. I've been to a few of his workshops and will be going to more! Don't miss it if you get the chance. Nice one John.
That was a wonderful interview. John and me have 2 things in common we both played drums and we both love drawing however I just got back into it last year at the young age of 63 LOL. Thanks for posting Ania 👍👍🇨🇦
What a lovely interview. I love John's work and enjoyed the demo an am signed up for the workshop. I looked up the artist/architect he mentioned and think he's referring to Ptolemy Dean - it's a different spelling to the one John gave, but he certainly uses wobbly lines, so I believe I have the right guy.
I found several things in this discussion that really resonates with me. I loved the idea of just coloring just man-made things or natural things like trees or skies. What a good discussion. Keep them coming!
Wonderful interview. I’ve followed John on Instagram and RUclips for a couple years. I very much like what he does. Just missed being able to take a live workshop with him when I visited Yorkshire in late 2019. I did go out sketching with USk Yorkshire!
Just loooove this guy!!
We feel the same way!! 🧡
What a great interview.

This was a great conversation, I enjoyed it as well as parallels the way work as well. Straight to carbon black ink with added color. Thank you both.
Thank you, means a lot that you listened and enjoyed it :) - Ânia

Nancy, Urban Sketches chapters are almost everywhere. They do follow a very particular set of rules, called the Manifesto, though.
Go, Nancy!!!!! - Ânia

Love you style, John, and have followed many of your Etchr videos. Do you have a site for us to show you what we've done?
Wondering where John lived in Canada
