Glad Coyote is back, and representing my home town of Columbus! Blendon Woods is an amazing park, and it's awesome he was able to find such an amazing turtle specimen.

I knew a guy (friend's dad) that had his Achilles tendon completely severed by a snapping turtle through a Wellington boot...He swears that it was an alligator snapping turtle, and being Southern Ontarian Canadian and this anecdote taking place in Southern Ontario, you'd probably think this was a tall tale.... But I have caught several Alligator Snappers in my youth... plus the dude had a permanent limp walked with a cane and had very little flexibility and range of motion in his left foot...

Totally believable. As a kid in Southern Ontario I kept a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle I caught in the nearby swamp as a pet for about a year. That thing was so aggressive it would tear apart anything else that went in the tank. In the time I had it it grew at least double in size, and seeing the writing on the wall, I let it go back where I found it. It was only years later that I was able to identify it as being a definite Alligator type. Technically I don't think they're even supposed to be in Southern Ontario, but their range does officially go into Illinois and Ohio which are just the other side of Lake Erie. Somehow I don't think the turtles care too much about what the maps say.
I’m so happy you finally made another turtle video, your old turtle videos inspired me so much that I made my own Channel where I go out and try to catch whatever turtles I can. I would like to thank you for introducing to the world of swamp monsters thanks
I remember reading somewhere that a human finger is only a little harder to bite off than a carrot. No surprise that big boy bit clean through! Definitely an animal that demands respect
The fact that Coyote Peterson picked up the turtle just like how Clint from Clint's reptiles explained makes me like his nature knowledge ever more. Also I love how Coyote claimed the turtle was super angry meanwhile the turtle was chilling in the canoe.
Ah reminds me of the good old days of Aligator Snapping Turtle saga on the channel Snapping turtles are more dangerous tho apparently so thats fun lol Clints reptiles just made a video on how to handle one without hurting it by pulling on the tail or shell
This! Came to look if someone else had seen it. That turtle is pissed because someone is basically pulling it up by its skeleton. I’d be biting and scratching too! :x

Coyote uploading a video on if a snapping turtle can break a hand and Clint’s Reptiles uploading a video on what he thinks should be a new way of holding one, coincidence, yes but interesting.
I watched that video yesterday. I was thinking it's funny how they each ended up posting a common snapping turtle video. Clint's is focused on showing they are capable of amazing behavior if you treat them right. Regardless of the difference of focus of their videos, I love these snapping turtles
9:34 if you watch lord of the rings return of the king, even Gollum had to really wriggle frodos hand to bite off frodos ring finger. Crazy enough frodos ring finger bone was bitten off from the second knuckle up, showing a similar result to the ballistic thumb. Peter Jackson made a very accurate finger bite off scene as we can see. Excellent job
Had an absolute dinosaur one, notorious for cleavering bluegill as people would reel them in, and i thought he was hooked as i fought him to shore and had lomg reach pliers i was going to unhook when he simply released his bite, not hooked at all, and came like 8 inches out of his shell to snap me and took the pliers with him lol. Then he just sauntered back in the depths of his pond kingdom.
Snapping turtles are so incredibly cool. They are so intelligent and protective, and they all have such unique personalities. I believe all animals are special in their own way but I will always have a special spot in my heart for the common snapping turtle.
Big boy said it's on site lol. Also, notice how he only leveled up the force of his bite as he felt was needed. Basically he was trying to give warnings. Goes to show he is not a danger if you leave him alone. Most animals are like that.
The hand looks like the fingers are not at all flexible, so I think it is a bit easier to bite the fingers off of that than a real hand. Because if you bite my thumb, it's not gonna be completely stiff, it's gonna move around as you twist it.
Obviously not a perfect representation because the gel hand isn't an accurate analog for a hand with muscle and tendons but even considering all that I have no doubt that big snapper could take the end of a finger if it wanted to. I can't count how many snapping turtles I've caught over the years while fishing. Every once and awhile you hook into a ginormous alligator snapping turtle and those are even wilder. Great video!
The really impressive trick is getting a handle on the turtles when you dive in after them and maintaining a safe distance between your hands and that beak
We found a hatchling baby snapping turtle in our backyard in Pataskala. In a neighborhood nowhere near a body of water. We kept it until its shell was Roughly 5". This was approximately 8 years ago. We thought it was a female until the day we decided to let it go at Blendon woods pond. We brought it out of its aquarium and it's manhood was on full display and Boy, Was he aggressive!! So we set Spikey loose in that pond hoping you might catch him one day. Who knows? Maybe that's him!
my family had a snapping turtle nesting just off our dock at our cottage we never bothered her and she never bothered us. i was always scared to lose a toe or two though but never had any problems with her
Warning, I'm not an expert. Clint's reptiles shows that holding a snapping turtle that way, makes them upset and possibly hurts them. Holding them under the shell and holding the tail at the same time, seems better. Again, I'm not an expert. I've never even had a pet turtle before. Be safe.
I also was thinking about Clint’s snapping turtle video and wondering if Coyote might want to consider how handling techniques could contribute to discomfort in the animal he’s catching
@@BlueberryHobbit i don't think that how you hold a wild snapper is on your mind when you are trying to catch one or move one most of the time when these wild animals have human encounters they are all ready pissed off and defensive . it might not have any thing to do with how they are being held. if you have a pet snapper then yay you might not want to hold them in a way to piss them off but the wild ones ya you grab them any way you can so not to lose a finger
