For this game we do not have the rights to the play-by-play audio, so like in previous uploads we put films music in its place. We are sorry about this, but hope you still enjoy watching the classic footage!
NFL Throwback I love the films music anyways, especially for games in black and white
Why is it always Monday Night Football? Is ABC stingy about rights or something
ABC owns the rights to the audio for these older games
@@NFLVault makes sense, though that's dumb haha. The NFL should at least be able to hold the rights to their own games.
I wish someone before my time negotiated that contract haha
Bernie Kosar was one underrated QB at the time
He was a big game baller for sure.
Bernie played the whole second half on a broken ankle, bringing the Browns back despite horrible pass protection and no running game.
Belichick’s offense was over-conservative and plodding...but once BK started calling his own shots in the second half, things improved dramatically.
Bernie would have been victorious but for Stover’s miss (Stover missed a game-tying FG in 1991 against Houston that ended the Browns’ playoff hopes), Pleasant’s dumb roughing the passer penalty, and Belichick’s leaky pass defense.
Great final drive by Marino...but this should have been Bernie’s victory.
Belichick wasn’t always a genius - NE fans might want to watch some of these old Browns games for a taste of what may be coming now that TB12 has taken his talents to Tampa.
Jason Percy browns defense really left receivers open on that last Marino drive too
@@Hotspur77 I remember that, it was pretty much the end of his career after that, he was never the same again, at least Bernie got a ring with Dallas, and he played a lot that season too. I don't know how many games I have watched where the defense let Bernie down
He wasnt underated in cleveland
How stingy is ABC for not letting the NFL use broadcast commentary, I want to hear Al and Frank call the game
Dan Dierdorf's mustache has entered the chat...
I KIND OF LOVE THIS MUSIC
Gotta love the big jerseys. We should have like one week a year where big jerseys like these are brought back
I remember watching this game live, for Mark Bavaro getting bounced off his head scoring late. But ultimately, even Bill Belichick and Nick Saban couldn't stop Dan Marino in money time when he was on his game.
Yeah true but they still put up a decent fight
There is a recent presser of Saban where he is asked about the best QBs he’s ever seen play - and he references Marino and this drive at the end
Bernie Kosar’s Browns... You gotta wonder if he would’ve beaten Denver in one of those AFC Championship games if the Browns coulda gone on to win the super bowl. Especially the one in ‘86.
Those Damn Broncos ruin everything
Sad thing is in that 86 afc championship the referee under the upright who said the kick was good in OT was blind as a damn bat. Most obvious missed kick i have ever seen.
I love the old Dawg Pound! Bernie Kosar was a pretty interesting and intense QB. I remember when Philip Rivers first came up in the NFL a lot of people said he wouldn't be successful because of his motion but if you look closely there's some similarities in his motion and Kosar's. Kosar's longevity fell off mainly due to Belichick losing faith in him and the wear and tear that came with the hits he took. He still showed some flickers of greatness after his Cleveland days and was the one that came up with the fake spike play that Marino used against the Jets!
Kosar was a great QB. Very intense and a natural winner.
Growing up playing QB my whole life, always loved the position. And the way Kosar plays it, is exactly why I love this sport!
@@Local_Laydee reading a defence is 75 percent of the position, it's missing today in most QB's. The corner position is also a lost art.
A young Bill Belichick vs. Don Shula match!
The first of two matchups between them (Shula would win both).
Belichek was probably cheating and still lost. He's a second rate hack. Just like pansy pretty boy Brady.
You can’t even spell the guys name right and your calling him a hack. I’m sure bill and his 8 rings will lose sleep over you calling him a cheater.
@@mshat18 Hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack hack.
Suck it.
@@mshat18 Did I mention he's a HACK?! And a LOSER? Couldn't even beat a wild card Giants team led by ELI MANNING in the SB. TWICE!
18-1 and Spygate. That's his legacy.
Shula: 17-0. Perfect. 347 wins. ALL CLASS.
And Brady? Oh, poor baby. The defense looked at him sideways. Oh wait...what's this? A roughing the passer penalty thrown by the refs (who also play for the Patriots.)
Bunch of cheaters. Deflategate anyone?
Jesus, Dan could even beat Aaron Rodgers in a deep ball contest. That is insane. He dropped dimes like a slot machine.
Could Mahomes tho
No no no Rodgers has thrown a ball 74 yards without even setting his feet against Detroit and it was accurate as well unfortunately there was pass interference and the ball was dropped if that ball was caught no one would even think Marino mahomes Vick favre Cunningham etc could hang with him in a arm strength competition you can find the pass on RUclips
Dan the man, the true 🐐 pure passer. Rodgers and Mahomes are the closest but Marino was second to none
@@gregtrust5599 you got that right Rodgers and mahomes are good but let them play under the same rules as Marino did and let Marino play today were everything is pass interference the defenses can't hit you . Marino would have destroyed the nfl put Marino on the niners or the Patriots see how many rings he would have had it would have been a lot. Put Brady and Montana in a quarterback challenge against Marino see how many times they win the answer is zero because Marino would beat them in ever challenge.
So did Kosar. Strongest arm I've ever seen in the NFL besides alway, Kosar had the best long ball in the 80s NFL as far as accuracy, second was Marino.
Dan Marino is easily a top 5 QB of all-time and shame on the Dolphins franchise for not getting him a running game and defense.
Jose Antonio Quintana so are you gonna say Jim kelly is better just because he had a better overall team I would shut up
@Jose Antonio Quintana
You are clueless
@Jose Antonio Quintana you sir are dummy
@Jose Antonio Quintana aka Laz Aleman Get out of here you piece of crap..Marino is the GOAT
@Jose Antonio Quintana Yeah the guy Who broke every passing record and held them for 20 years. Go to bed JR cause that hot air in your head is clouding your judgement
Eric Metcalf was a serious problem in these days. He was my favorite player outside of the Dolphins
I remember that too Finally and Marino were my team but dog pound was my second. Kosar was a good QB and yeah Metcalf was really good..
poor Bernie played his heart out with a broken foot only to lose .....seems the story of his carrier
You can see Bernie limping more and more as the night wore on (I know: how could you tell? 😆) Turns out he played most of the night with a broken leg, and missed half of the season. Dude was Prince Valiant in the face of King Midas Marino.
Great comment
@@Shinobi33 I think I spelled Valliant wrong?
broken foot
Marino da goat
If I remember correctly Bernie Kosar played the 2nd half with a broken ankle.
*I absolutely love old nfl games*
Still waiting on 49ERS @ Packers 2013 WC round
All that the offense did to take the lead after being down 20-3 only for the defense to lose the game for them in the end sad
defense scored and then stopped Marino to get them back in it
I was at this game!!! Remember it like it was yesterday!! Kosar played most of this game with a broken leg!! Great Warrior!!!
Bittersweet in a way. This 1992 Dolphin team was the last great Miami Dolphin team(maybe 94 also) they ended up going to the AFC Championship game where they ended up losing to the Bills but they haven't gone that far since.
1994 MIAMI DOLPHINS were better than the 1992 team.
Barely one year later Belichick released Bernie Kosar for having “declining skills.” Saw Mathews tackling Marino. This game is more watchable than many of the nickel & dime offenses today.
Kosar was done in 1992. In fact, he was only a slightly above average QB at best in his career. 53-54-1 record, 124 TD and 87 Int in 108 starts. He one really good season, 1987. That is the year he made his ONLY pro bowl.
Steve P Yes but Kosar lost Marty as head coach & by 1991 Belichick was there who had a different system. Bernie wasn’t an all time great but he was fun to watch. 😃
There were like 3/4 long passes in this game, just like any other game this sunday really.
I believe it was diminishing skills
marktwain4 So did Belichick. Bernie’s last play was a TD pass. Bernie went to the Cowboys & won a game for them w/48 hours prep time.
4:44 was definitely the "Oh Cleveland..." moment of the game.
This game earns a whole lot of Cool Points just for the fact it's Don Shula's team vs Bill Belichick's team!
Dan Marino may have better stats, but Kosar has one thing that the other doesn't.......
A Super Bowl championship (with the Cowboys)
the typical story of the browns, Bernie gets them a lead and their defense gives up a last minute drive, some things never change
Back when both MIA and CLE had great uniforms
Back when just about every team had great uniforms.
#21 for Cleveland is Eric Metcalf. He's related to D.K. Metcalf. Eric Metcalf had some great punt returns in his career.
His father Terry played for the Cardinals and wasn't too bad either.
His Father is Terrance Metcalf, the lineman who played for the Bears from 2002-2008.
The 1st song that plays is the song from Madden NFL 11
Nick Wilde I think is called “the equalizer”
Dan the man 🐐
5:17 Clay Matthews oh my God
Dan Marino in the clutch
Marino had the best arm the NFL has ever seen. Unmatched even to this day!
heart attack for the cardiac kids . need quintuple bypass . they do always give you exciting games them browns from the late 70s to early 90s eras .
I can still hear Chris Berman doing the Michael Jackson “Hee Hee” every time the NFL WR M. Jackson scored a TD.
I have resided in Ohio since 2017. Been an Ohio All Around Sports fan since I was 15. This modern marvel technology and RUclips makes this 52 yr young Browns & all Ohio fan happy. I can look back and see the games of the past, preserved here for fans to see.
Belichick's defensive coordinator Nick Saban, before switching to contact lenses. Honest. 3:04
Dan Marino really super player
Cool show
wow best college coach ever, best coach ever period and the best quarterback of all time all in one game... classic
I'm from mexico city. I love the NFL for watch on TV. To Bernie Kosar
It would be interesting to see if those great 1980s & 1990s Miami Dolphins teams had another QB and if they would have improved post-season success.
This has to be the drive Saban is talking about in this recent clip ruclips.net/video/lQ0hQbcdTiY/видео.html
Three coaching legends in this game
Marino definitely was a great quarterback. He is in my top 5 for goat status for qbs and probably number 1 in terms of pure passing. Rogers has nothing on him in terms of that. But not winning a super bowl and surprisingly only going to one really drops him below Brady,Montana,Elway and Manning for me.
That’s fair. He’s probably a better pure passer than them. But those guys are still so incredibly good. It’s really tough to pick a top five. Marino is definitely in mine.
@Maher Justice exactly This ring thing is weird for me. No QB won a Superbowl without a great team BEHIND them
Go dolphins
Proof Marino would wreck belicheck
Metcalf would be a 1,000 yard back in today's league.
I think Mack was out that game, we woulda won!
#33 for Cleveland looks like he was paid off by Miami to drop everything
#83 out there dropping passes all night too, including a touchdown.
Love this channel. Was 8 when this happened and until now finished watching this game. Went to sleep at halftime. Hahaha. Btw that last play deserved to be a completion...penalty or not.
The 92' Dolphins was a team worth watching. However, as always......they tend to disappoint in the end. 🤷
Still love The Dolphins. Hopefully the 2023 season take us back to Super Bowl 🙏🏻😁
I remember watching this game I saw the first quarter and went to bed. I woke up to this victory. I was living in Homestead FL. We just went through Hurricane Andrew a month before, and we just got power back.
That last play is emblematic of kosars entire career in cleveland. Scrable till the end, its ugly, its messy but he always kept us in the game till the last fuckin down. Miss you Bernie. We'll take you over doug flutie any day. Also....Marino....pound for pound, adjusted for era, the greatest passer to ever sling it.
Playing in the dirt infield and watching one of the most ungainly (but somehow amazingly elusive) QBs in the history of the NFL. Those were the days.
As a big Browns/Kosar fan re-watching this game brings back a lot of memories. Bernie Kosar playing his heart out there on a broken leg, putting us in a position to win. As usual, our receivers were dropping passes, our kickers couldn't make easy kicks (even extra points), and our defense lets a great QB march down the field to beat us in the final seconds. In return for playing great and sacrificing his body, Bernie gets unceremoniously dumped the next season. Yeah.
I was there for the Monday night match up, The Browns came back and the fan's were so loud during the final two minutes, but to no avail, Marino marched the Dolphins down the field for the win, I remember going into work the next morning so hoarse from shouting, my voice was so raspy, I couldn't talk right for a couple of days.
I guess it's just me but I prefer the music over the highlights unless I'm missing out on the greatest play by play announcer ever, the late Dick Enberg.
Wish the Dolphins never left the Orange Bowl during Marino’s years! It was special and magical to watch him play in the Orange Bowl. My favorite athlete and QB ever #13 4-ever 🐐
Btw, great taste with the theatrical score… see what i did there? 😉
It seems weird that a wide receiver was allowed to wear #1 In 1992.
I think he eventually wore 81, no?
Yes other QB have the rings ,but your eyes tell you who’s the best QB of all time in this video
I am a lifetime Miami fan , but no. Marino was not the best of all time. I would put (in no order) Brady, Montana, Manning ahead of him. I am just listing QBs I have actually watched play. Marino was certainly great and a HOF QB, but he did not get it done when it mattered, the playoffs. He was 8-10 in the playoffs for his career. Go look at his career stats from 1989 through the end of his career. Marino had an incredible 142 TD is his first 4 seasons, and 278 TD in his final 13, only throwing for over 30 in a season once. I loved watching Marino, but to say he was the best ever, is silly.
Steve P how many of those games did you watch with Marino took the lead with a minute or two minutes left in the game and the other QB went down the field to win the game,. not to mention that every team played the passing game against him because their running game was pathetic. Marino talent far exceeded any those QBs you mention and although they are great , they had complementary football players around them unlike Dan. The greatest example is Elway caring his team to Super Bowls that had no business being there , but once he got a complete team around him he won two Super Bowl. Where would Brady be without Adam Vinatieri?
Same ol brownies
Shula vs Young Bellichek
Before he was a team whisperer
Yep, looks like another instance where Marino had to "save the day" because Miami's Defense forgot to show up for the second half. Lost count of just how many times that happened over Marinos career!!
You can tell a Belichick offense. little did he know this would be money in the 2000s era. the 90s were too rough. Even Marino's Hail Mary is a dart. You can tell this is before the Achilles tendon because Marino can roll out.
A few years ago a reporter asked Alabama coach Nick Saban, who was the Browns defensive coordinator in this game, who was the greatest quarterback he had ever seen. He directly mentioned this game and said that when Marino walked on the field before that final drive, he looked right at Saban as if to tell him, you're losing this game.
Even though it was 3 years away, it still hurts that this was close to the '95 move. Man, I was a Browns fan to the core in those days. It has not been the same for me ever since. I want the current ones to win, but I'm just not throwing my heart out there with them. Just not as invested as I once was. Modell killed that part of my fandom.
Marino vs Kosar - the two most non-athletic top-flight athletes ever
Did Bill Belichick do anything but lose in Cleveland?
This was poetic
Leroy Hoard was a bum until he went to Minnesota
was the field that bad? These players look like they're barely able to stay upright on it
What was up with that field? Dan and Bernie were pretty beat up by then but they weren't that gimpy.
Browns dropping perfect passes all night 😂
How the hell did kosar make it to the nfl, battle of the sloths at qb
The mistake on the lake. Bernie is a legend!
how many times marino run past the chains and threw?
That spike by Jackson was epic.
Muni had green grass once? No way!
I’m a Browns fan and a Dan Marino fan!
Good lord that Browns oline was bad
As a long time Dolphins fan, since the mid-70s, I saw this game live on TV but hadn't thought about it until just now. My biggest takeaway is seeing how young Bill Bellichick and Nick Saban looked at the time.
Can you burn me a CD with this music on it? It would be great to play as background music.
I remember this. A thrilling 4th quarter. And what compounded the misery for Browns fans, was that Kosar broke his ankle that night.
Good old days
nil throwback I beg pleas like 4 classic thanksgiving games with the audio please make it happen !!! my favorite channel on youtube
Jesus, those browns receivers couldn't catch a break... Or a cold for that matter, poor Kosar
i felt like i listened to one spy movie , a western , and part of Tchaikovsky's the Nutcracker Suite
That spike on the second to last play makes me wonder if that is where Bernie Kosar got the inspiration for the Clock Play.
I can hear Chris Berman doing the highlights, a young belicheck, Saban not looking completely miserable, and Marino had a cannon.
I get the copyright problems for audio, but if there’s any audio to use instead the NFL Films audio is the one to go with! Love it.
Bring back those UNIS !!! Chubb and Hunt the new Mack and Byner.
I would listen to nfl films music before jumping out of a tesla™ electroplane and parachuting into battle in ww3
Even back then they called ticky tack roughing the QB penalties.
This game was not sold out ... it was blacked out on tv.. I listened to the game on am radio..
i remember watching it on tv
I think I recalled wrong.. I couldn't get to a tv.. I listened on the radio.

this is the music which lost out to Hawaii Five 0's final choice
The dramatic music makes the video better👌
The music reminds me of the movie Lifeforce.
What’s the story behind the dude wearing the #1 jersey for Cleveland 🤔
Was just about to ask the same thing but went to see if anyone else has said it too
Miami Dolphins was member AFC East Division from 1970 through 1993 and Cleveland Browns was member AFC Central Division from 1970 through 1993 era during the dark days of Art Modell and Bill Belichick era 1991 through 1993
Tyler G I like old school NFL from 1970 through 1993 era
@Tyler G Actually the phins have always been in the east (and still are) . The colts are the team that left for the AFC south. Neither team was ever in the AFC Central. The dolphins and colts were in the AFC east together from 1970-2001
The Music Is Awesome
