There's no driver shortage. That's been a completely misleading lie for years. LTL is where you should be starting out for your first couple years to gather experience. LTL drivers are getting up to $100k annually. Everyone thinks you're going to have to start with a mega carrier like SWIFT,cr England,etc ;that's not the case. Yellow,ABF,Old Dominion, FedEx,UPS are where new ,or even experienced drivers should be looking if they want a real bag.

I’m willing to be a driver of a trailer truck here in the US, if would given me a chance to get the license I will be much work hard on it to be a driver even i have no experience i can say i will be the best driver of trucks because of my willingness. Is anyone here who could help me give me employment and help me in my dream possible? Currently I’m in California under B1/B2. I drive dump trucks and gross average of $2,300 give or take. Net alittle over $1,900 on my checks.. And due for another raise soon. Home everyday and weekends. Our top drivers made alittle over 88k last year.. and long haul is a rip off.. and your statistics are alittle off. Demand is high, but the pay isn't worth it.. and theirs alot you don't get paid for. And you actually make more doing dedicated, then long haul. It's more consistent with pay and better time off. Long haul you have alot of waiting witch means your wheels aren't turning so no money. And detention pay sucks..

So much misinformation. My first year as a company driver i was doing 80k hauling flatbeds. Lol now i got my own truck & company and make 150k a yr after all expenses..
There is no way that long haul makes just $54,000. I made $64,000 in my first year hauling diesel fuel locally for the railroad. I fuel locomotive engines for CSXT. It’s my first Class A job. It is actually really fun. I know there is better money with other things like Flatbed, or Car Hauling, but I am really having fun with this. I have 1 1/2 years in and I enjoy it more all the time. The Site Leader here has told me that if he ever moves up, or goes elsewhere, that I am the next to take his spot because I know the job really well, and have been here the longest after him. Even veteran drivers with years of experience have trouble with this job for some reason. Spilling fuel, hitting things on the railroad at night, different style tanks. Different sizes of fuel tanks. Some have broken digital meters, or sight glasses. You have to stick the tanks to get the most accurate measurements. Checking the “lean” can prevent spills, or not checking it can cause one. Some guys don’t want to take the time to do the job properly so they spill. No different than any other job. Knowing the difference in the sounds the tank makes can tell you all kinds of information. I am really interested in Car Hauling however. The great thing about having a Class A is that it allows you to explore so many options for both A and B jobs. I don’t want to jump from job to job though. Firefighters have to make more! I thought upwards of $80,000-$100,000. Have a great day.

Good money back then. I'm ashamed to say I started out at 18 cpm in 85. A cabover International was my home for weeks at a time.
